Well, it's been almost a month since I visited here. My life got real weird, and it happened in the blink of an eye. First, my superiors in the Navy volun-told me that I was going to be an IA (individual augmentee---a program wherein sailors go through a 2-3 week how to be a soldier course, and then get shipped over to the sandbox to help out the Army or Marines with whatever it is that they need help with. Being an electronics technician I could have been in base camp running a satcom setup, or I could have been out on patrol with a 50 pound ruck, radio, and M16.)

In the middle of running about like my hair was on fire going to all the appointments, doing the paperwork, and getting shots, I started having severe chest pains. So, I went to the hospital, and had every test known run on me and lost around a gallon of blood along the way. Three days later the doc comes and tells me that I'm fine and go home. I didn't have a heart attack (which I'm happy about), but they're not sure exactly what DID happen
I requested copies of all my test results and consulted with my mother who has a medical degree, she took what I told her and talked to her doctor and collectively we've decided that I might've had Angina (undetermined chest pain). Isn't it nice and tidy how they even have a term for 'we don't know what it is' ?

So, my IA orders got cancelled, because I'm too much of a health risk, and I'm back on the ship, which would be great except that we've been working 12-14 hour days the whole time because some dolt decided that we could complete our entire training cycle which is normally 4 months, in 2 and a half months. As a result I'm going to be a little scarce around here, but I'll check in when I can.

The only good thing that came out of the hospital thing is that I've decided to quit smoking, not so easy with work the way it is, but I'm doing ok. I'm down to half a pack a day from a pack a day, so I'm getting there.

Anyway, if you're still reading at his point, I have found a little time in between all that to paint/model a little bit. Updates are in my logs, please go take a look.

Cheers!

well it does'nt sound too good but good luck with the giving up smoking and i'm sure being on a nicely airconditioned ship beats being in the desert

Stopping smoking - always a smart move. And you will feel better for it - honest.

Best advice ever!! Looking back on everything I've done in life up to this point starting smoking was the stupidest thing I've ever done, and the one thing I'd change if I could.
