i confess even i have space marines, and i choose the silver skull, becuase i like them ![]() my army is based to counter other space marines, tau using lots of suits and a few chaos army's. most used army composition : master of the forge with a beamer and on a bike. 3 tacticals with plasma guns and cannons, 2 tacticals with lascannons, 1 ironclad with heavy flamers and that huge hammer in a drop pod, 1 standard dreadnought with twin linked lascannon, 2 thunderfire cannons 1 land raider, alright enough talk, lets show something. first off a full army shot : ![]() then a few tactical squads : ![]() ![]() the ironclad says hi! : ![]() so does a sergeant, ![]() and its still totally worth it ![]() ![]() also this is a pip captain, constructed from blacktemplar bits and a servo skull with a iron halo. ![]() and these are a few other guys : the first chaplain, ![]() the second ![]() a librarian ![]() cato! ![]() and a mexican! ![]() enjoy, a new tactical sqaud and rhino will be done soonish

nice marines you have there. i really like the use of the servo skulls (the sergeant has one as well, doesnt he?) and the plasma gun pose is definitely still worth it

Lookin' good Brams! I must confess, I haven't heard of the Silver Skulls before but they look good. The plasma guy is all kinds of cool, but I think his tabard is a bit spotty. A nitpick, but it takes some attention away from the cool conversion. Otherwise they look good mate. I just think you have a fair bit of basing to do.

Cool stuff. I've always liked the Silver Skulls and you've managed to capture that gritty feel with yours, which looks good when done right. |

I love the silver skulls. I remember trying to paint one when i first got into the hobby, he looked like a christmas decoration. Yours do not, which is good. ![]() The servo skull really works. I thought it would be to small but its not! How do you paint the metal armour? AR |

thanks AR, the metal armour is extremely simple, PART UNO: paint the marine boltgun metal on all the armour bits, NOT the part behind the knee and such, that should remain black ![]() PART DOS: then you wash the marine with LOADS of black wash or realy realy realy watered down chaos black, it should make the metal dull and unshinny, after this you drybrush the armour decorations in boltgun metal, like the chest angels and such. the helmets are made by following the above, the you highlight the sides and top with boltgun metal, and 50/50 boltgun metal - chainmail. after this you wash it realy lightly just to remove the shiny. then all you need are red eyes and black shoulder pads ![]() should a make a deccent tutorial about this? |

These are really gritty Bram - I do like them. Just how I picture marines should look, not all garish colours which, despite being fluffy, rarely look gothic enough to me. Keep it up... |

The idea of using the servo skull as a head is bizarre but does really go with the gothic feel you're going for. |
