I've wanted to use that topic title for ages.

OK folks, a bit a a new, new, not so new project. I'm back in the game and I have a tale to tell. As the more retentive of you will recall, a few months back I returned from my southern sojourn to SYSC (South Yorkshire Sheffield City), home of pork pies, whippets, heroin addicts, 7 year old parents and most importantly my gaming group. I've been toying around mentally over the last year with the idea of dropping out of this lovely hobby. I was getting stuff painted here and there, doing a bit of this and that but ultimately never, ever getting a game in. I do so enjoy sending little toys into war and the piece of coal I call my heart started to drift away from it.

Moving back however has reenergised me. I've played more games in the past few weeks than I have in the last few years but as a result of my laziness, I have been using other peoples armies. Mine are all unnasembled or smashed up in boxes you see. So it's about time I built my own. I have about 600 points of Bad Moon Orks built now, but I won't bore you with pictures of models primed black. I hate that. Instead I have a test model, Frakkit the Grot.

This is gonna be a slow business. I rarely have any success batching stuff so it's one man (or greenskin as it were) at a time. I also got a stompa for my birthday which I have been converting pretty extensively, I'm pretty proud to have made the head remove to reveal some interior details but that is a while off yet. Anyway, I'm painting another grot right now so keep yourselves posted and thanks for looking.

Happy times and places,

Ricky

If they all end up painted like this, we'll be in for a treat!!! I love the little gun blue in the revolvers. Nicely done Ricky!

Aye, but an Orc at a time to produce models like that? I think we'll happily endure the fall of civilisation just to see this army completed.

It is a good looking grot, lovely painting and a nice contrast with those blue nails.

As something else, is that city really that bad?

I know what people mean re single Ork painting but I too prefer to paint em one by one, yeah it takes longer but I feel its worth it in the end.

That grot looks great mate and as others have said I'm eagerly waiting more :)

Ack! So many replies for one grot. Here we go.

Digits: Cheers Dave, didn't think anyone would notice the blue. Ta!

KayvannShrike: Thankyou. :)

Schoolcormorant: Cheers Steve. I'll have to paint a Skoolcormrunt in the future.

Brambleten: More of a pleasure than a challenge I hope. As soon as I try to challenge myself I fail...

Highmarshalldave: I don't think you'll have to wait long till the end of civilisation. Global warming or the Koreans will take care of that.

Daemon-Forge: Cheers mate. It's one of those daft titles I've had in my head for years.

bram kuijpers: Cheers bram, I've made some changes that I hope won't upset you too much.

Marovian: Pale noses Foxtrot Tango Whisky!

bringerofdecay: Cheers! I've got you to thank for my Warboss!

Novogord: Sheffield is actually one of the better places in South Yorkshire. Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, now they are [Not on the floor please]holes. (ducks)

Death Korp : Mad? I hope not. I just wan't to spend a little more time making these guys sing is all. :)

Mawa: Don't you mean MOAR!1!11?

Peacecraft: Thankyou and welcome to the Ammobunker! :)

Right, update time. Another grot done and I'm still on with the Battlestar references so standing with Frakkit is Daggit!

I've put Frakkit in the frame as well just to show a few cosmetic changes. The turquoise nails weren't working for me so I redid them to bleached bone and also painted the star on his bandana white rather than gold....

Daggit was a frustrating little thing to get right. I had to fix him from a varnish accident and also the face hanky took three goes to get right. I'm quite happy with it now though and wan't to make my grots quite multi-coloured rather than put them in strict clan colours. I figure they get what they get through looting rather than good honest teef so I'll be able to have some fun.

I don't actually have that much to go through for the first thousand points. I'll give you a rough list.

1 Warboss + Ammo Runt,
2 Big Meks+ 1 Oiler,
5 Nobz,
11 Boyz,
10 Grots, plus Slaver and Squig,
1 Trukk,
4 Deff Koptas,
3 Killa Kans,

So in total 41 models and two down already makes that 39 to do. I know the force won't be tactically viable, I'm more hoping it'll be a springboard I can build upon.

Anyway, hopes ya likes.

Happy times and places,

Ricky

Who cares about tactical viabilty when you have a fun and gorgeous army to play with?

Grots are looking good mate. Your wee alterations to the tester make him look a lot better.

Good to see you painting and posting stuff again. The grots are excellent, a whole army painted to that standard is going to look fantastic, nice different bases too. No matter how slowly you paint I'll keep following this log if you keep produceing stuff to that standard!

Really great, and the list looks small enough to be manageable. I prefer without the turquoise nails, good choice.

Nice work on the metallics, the washes of color give some real depth.
