Gribbly Monster

Well, I got the name Grizz firstly as a nickname back when I was in high school. One of my best friends, sat next to me in biology, and as the other guy who sat at our table knew me through my friend, so we got on pretty well. One day it was decided that since the other guy was called 'Panda' (never did discover why he was called that...), I should have my own animal name... It was at that stage that I had been regularly shaving for about a year, and that week I'd just not bothered with it, so in my friends eye's, I had a grizzly face on account of the stubble. Putting two and two together, I was a grizzly bear... Shortened to just 'Grizz' obviously as time went on, and because it's hardly a name you'd choose for online shenanigans, I just use it as well. As for the avatar. That's the Keywork, from Coheed & Cambria, it symbolises the planets and the energy connections that they have between one another. Looks pretty cool and unique on it's own, without even knowing the back story behind it; which always appeals to me on both points. The sig, well it's my logs. 'Nuff said. |

My reasoning is much less awesome. I was looking through Legions of Middle Earth while registering on TheLastAlliance, came to Username, and looked down at my page at the unit "Shadow Guard, 5 Kataphrakts". Shadowguard + Kataphrakt = Shadowphrakt. As for Duffstix, my username on other forums, Duffy is my surname and I like the river Styx. |

Mine's an old army nickname. I was in Kosovo with KFOR. My company was assigned to searching a forest for illegal weapon caches and, of course, my magazine broke - spewing 5.56 nato all over the ground. Now, in the Danish army there's an unholy amount of paperwork if any ammunition goes missing, so I was ordered to stay behind and pick them up, then report back to the vehicles. Of course, this was during the winter, so there was almost a foot of snow on the ground. Much swearing occured, and the some more swearing. Now, while I'm picking up the ammo, the rest of the guys circle round in the forest and arrive at the vehicles without coming back to me. Just as they are about to leave, they figure out that I'm missing and then line up to search the forest again, this time for me. Of course, I was right where they left me and ordered me to stay until I had found everything, but they still started calling me AWOL. The avatar is just the symbol for my old regiment, the Guard Hussars. |

My Screen name is simple enough. Back in fourth edition you were crazy for taking a heavy land raider templars army, it was much easier to pod spam and so on, one day after losing badly to a power gaming Eldar bastard, I brought two Crusaders and challenged him to a rematch, this time beating him. He found it funny and when his friends asked how he lost, he replied: 'Because Marshal Two Crusaders over here decided to step his game up'. So I decided to keep it. I chose the avatar because it is the coolest Templar pic. My sig links to most of the things I have done, and the quote is my favorite. I find it appropriate because more often than not, I find myself arguing over fluff. |

Entertainment officer...Meet the gang cos the boys are here.....

I like this! good one Pete Ok mine then. I have not been at this whole lark for that long really, well, not as long as some of you here and in some way felt a bit self concious about it, getting in to the hobby given my age (silly I know, I'm not the oldest here....i think! but there you go). I also as many of you know have a love for all things French having spent my early years living there (and often regreting my return....except when thinking about she who must be obeyed and the 4 drains on my resources) So. how to represent this? I'll let wikipedia explain 'The Old Guard was the name of the veterans of the French Army's Imperial Guard under Napoleon Bonaparte. The Old Guard served Napoleon since his earliest campaigns. All soldiers within the 1st Grenadiers, 1st Chasseurs, and the Sergeants of the 2nd Grenadiers, Chasseurs, and Fusiliers were in the Old Guard Infantry, while the Mounted Gendarmes, Grenadiers a Cheval, Guard Empress Dragoons, Mamelukes, Chasseurs a Cheval, and 1st (Polish) Lancer Regiments bore that honour for the Cavalry. It is believed that Napoleon hand-selected members of his Old Guard based on physical traits, most notably above-average height. Their imposing stature was likely impressive to foes and allies alike. The famous words Napoleon used to encourage his elite guards were, "The eyes of your Emperor are upon you!" The Old Guard Grenadiers were known to complain in the presence of the Emperor, giving them the nickname, Les Grognards. After being disbanded by the victorious Sixth Coalition in 1814, the Old Guard along with the rest of the Imperial Guard was reformed after Napoleon's return from exile on Elba, and later fought at the Battle of Waterloo. The Old Guard Infantry were pivotal in the defense of the town of Plancenoit against the Prussians, and served as a kind of rear guard after the failure of the attack of the Middle Guard on the British Center. The Old Guard Cavalry had the misfortune to be involved in the wasteful midday charges against the British infantry, and were unavailable at the decisive moments of the battle. Napoleon had used up every last reserve except the Old Guard. Faced with overwhelming firepower and numbers, they fell, and were forced to retreat.' I thought it fairly appropriate especially given my favourite army. As for the Avatar? my original one was of Windsor Davies in his role as Battery Sergeant major 'Shut up Saib' Williams from 'It ain't half hot mum' ( a favourite TV show of mine after I came back from France) and I still use that elsewhere. The new one is the late great Terry Thomas (the picture taken from ' Those magnificent men in their flying machines' which at the time seemd highly appropriate as we were getting into the whole Double Eagle thing) whose fim career saw him repeatedly playing upper class 'bounders and cads'...not me at all but of course thats the joy of Avatars. |

I love the forum, I have been a member of Whineseer for 3 years but it never really gelled and there was always the feeing that round the corner a flaming was about to happen... And so I have observed for a while some of the illustrious members (sheep, dave33xx, schoolcormorant, digits and old guard amongst other (as well as Tinners but we still dont know who he is :p) (and saw the stand at gamesday 08 which was awesome) and I wanted to contribute myself. So a Blog is soon to happen (my Black Legion amongst other projects) and I feel the need to introduce myself... I was at a dance event a couple of years ago and the theme was Superheroes. I thought long and hard and decided that a play on my name was the way to go. After all, Actiondan is the greatest hero of them all... The avatar is just a cool pic from the collected visions showing what marines are supposed to be like. It might change in time but only if they make guardsmen look as cool as Marines (Karl Kopinsky this is not a challenge....) The username and Avater may change in the near future (I'm thinking Workhorse and a pic of a Shetland Pony)but I still want to contribute to what make this a fantastic site. |

Well some of you might know that Novgorod (or something like that) is a city in Russia. A few years ago, when I was reading a book about ww2 I came upon that name. I wrote it wrong when I first signed in on a forum, so I kept using it. So nothing fancy about it ![]() My avatar is something I find rather funny. |

Novogord: Really? I thought it was called Novgorod As for me, my surname's Burnard and thanks to the uninventive nature of cadet nicknames, I ended up being called Burnie for 3-4 years and it's stuck. I also go by other nicknames including T-bone, Timberland and T-bag (first name's Tim) As for pictures, it's usually been a picture of me or something I consider coolish (like the elysian now )

Mine must be the most boring, it was my ebay addy! VX is short for vixen, a nickname of an old friend which just stuck. The avatar, mmm. Bigbadcol and myself were running exercise Dragonov for cadets who were joining the forces, and we wanted a badge. This isn't it but it gave us the inspitation for the badge. Point to note, every cadet who attended the course was accepted into the forces |

Mine is self explanatory, when I joined Warseer, I had just started my Raven Guard army, and thought KayvaanShrike was a pretty cool name for a character, and it was a cool model, cool fluff, so thats what I went with. Then just carried it over here. Avatar is the AB background with a great pic I found on Google! Which if you can't read it says "We know exactly what you've been searching for" with the google "o's" as the lady's buxom bosom! lol |

Wow so many awesome stories. Name: I followed Strongbad's advice on creating an onine name. Take an activity, place or cool sounding thing. Add dude, dudette, boi, or grl. then string some numbers after it. Tada it's a name. I believe his example was BballGrl1234, not that far from Lavadude360 ![]() As for my avatar. It used to be a picture someone on Whineseer drew for me ages ago, literally drawing out our names. And at present it's the first krieg mini I painted. May be due for a change but . I'm lazy and 2. Everyone recognises it. Also the name emboldening, somewhat of a trademark now, was done because I thought you know what my name deserves to be emboldened ![]() Dave |

Well, mine happens to be my original and still current email address. I wasnt all that interested in sticking my name on the address so I cobbled it together at work one day, blue being the colour of my uniform, and sabre being the old radio callsign of our patrol vehicles. Avatar, thats one of my Westralian Xth Sentinels. The quote's in my sig come from my works shoulder patch "Serve and protect" and a quote "I dont recall" that was used quite extensively during a Royal Commission held into dodgy Govt/Business dealings in West OZ some years ago. I've translated them to latin as best I could. |
