I thought it might be fun to share some info on your display name, signature etc... To better make an example of what I mean 'll go first My name was at first meant to be "Deus Ex Machina", as it, unlike "DOMINUS Ex Machina" has a meaning, and a pretty cool one too:: deus ex ma•chi•na 1 In Greek and Roman drama, a god lowered by stage machinery to resolve a plot or extricate the protagonist from a difficult situation. 2 An unexpected, artificial, or improbable character, device, or event introduced suddenly in a work of fiction or drama to resolve a situation or untangle a plot. 3 A person or event that provides a sudden and unexpected solution to a difficulty. But due to accidentally naming myself "Dominus Ex Machina" on on Work In Progress (I still don't know how that happened) and also discovering that there was someone calling himself Deus Ex Machina on a couple of other sites I decided to keep it Dominus It IS Latin and translates roughly to "The machine is the lord/ruler" or "the machine is supreme" (well something like that, I wouldn't know. Got a friend who studied Latin though and that's the best he could come up with). I later discovered that the book “Imperial Armour vol.1” (don't know about the others, vol.1 is the only one I own) from forge world has "Dominus Ex Machina" written on every page (note: I got the book after I accidentally named myself Dominus instead of Deus). My avatar doesn't change often, but when it does I simply put up something I recently painted, nothing really interresting about it. I love servo-skulls, they are by far, without doubt, the coolest beings in the 40k universe in my opinion. I think of it as a cruel form of recycling for mankind’s greatest resource - itself. I also feel that it sort of ties together with my name, being a machine and all as well. This is why I included servo-skulls in my signature (which I actually didn't make myself though, someone on the Bolter and Chainsword offered to make one fo rme, it was so long ago I can't remeber what he called himeslf though) EDIT: just as it so happens my internet connection died over the last few days and out of boredom I created this new signature in photoshop for myself. Two lions in the colours of the Swedish flag, some fire and my forum name and that's it. Did the lions in the Swedish flags so that people would know i'm a proud Swede This is the old signature that I used for years:![]() Now I’m looking forward to find out a bit about you guys, it would be fun to hear you explain your more or less crazy names! Well back when i was a wee wippersnapper i was looking for an email address, and i happened to notices that in the inquisitor rulebook there was a arcoflagellant called simeon38x... so i took the 38x and made dave38x, david38x, dave_38x and dave 38x my usernames for various forums, as well as my various email addresses. To my knowledge i am the only major user of the name online, be it forums, email addresses, games etc. My avatar is normally something thats cool, and my sig is the same

here is my reason: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonzo_the_Great Muppets rock! I've always wanted to be a stuntman/alien/daredevil but sadly always lacked the purple feathers and blue fur to pull it off convincingly. Also I sometimes sneakily call my wife Camilla, mainly when she is sleeping. As for my avatar pic.... it is of my namesake on warseer, and of my mum here. (because I love her). I don't change it often, there is more to life than changing a wee picture every other day. More to life, such as beer! Edited by the_great_gonzo, 3 Jul 2009, 01:56 PM.

I'd meant to do one of these myself, fair play to you for beating me to the punch Pete. Well, highmarshaldave, eh? I guess it all started when I first registered on Portent (yes. . . Portent, I am that old) and at the time a lot of folk used ranks and titles from their favourite armies somewhere in their usernames. Given that I'd started my Black Templars when they were merely cool marines on the box of 3rd ed, I had quite an attachment and, around the time of my finding the internet, Codex: Armageddon had just been released. The natural choice of rank was, of course, High Marshal. And the name just stuck every since. . . As for my avatar, I've always been interested in Thrawn as a character, and I think I chose him cos he was cool and matched Warseer's colour scheme fairly well. Again, it just stuck and has become quite recognisable as been a symbol of me prowling the interwebs. Dave out. Edited by highmarshaldave, 3 Jul 2009, 02:35 PM.

Doesn't it look like a face!
|
Well, my name has a funny story behind it. One night, three score years ago, I had a vision. It was God. He referred to me as Tinners, so I assumed he had dialed the wrong vision, but I figured, meh, just roll with it. But no, it was because I used the name TinTin on CSS and eventually it became Tinners. |

I'd love to be able to say mine has some deep and meaningful explaination but the truth is I was in the dog house with my missus over something at the time I first started posting back on the B&C ezboard forums. I can't remember what for now. I just kinda stuck with it I guess... My avatar is one of my favorite minis that I have made. |

Originally, a while ago when I created my first email adress I had a fascintion with the new ogre kingdom models that had just come out. So I named my self yellow gnoblar, when I went to sighn up for the warhammer forums (the first forum I have ever sighned up to, the name was too long or some one already had it or something, so I had to think of a new name. I was just about to go see monty pythons play "spamalot" so I decided upon sir.spamalot. Stuck with me ever since. |

My name fiore hellheart came about when i first got the game guild wars a few years ago, up to then i just used my real name, In fact i think my B&C account still has my username, anyway it came about because i made a new character that was a fire elementalist and wanted a fiery name, fiore stuck, and then becuase the character needed a first and second name i chose hellheart, have used it ever since. The avatar can be explained by school life, for some reason a few years ago my mates started calling me an ewok, so i thought i may aswell have that as my avatar, explains the sig aswell. OK, I'll play. Digits is my real life nickname given me by fellow member of the Sealed Knot. For some ungodly reason, it seemed as if I was taking injuries to fingers or toes every muster I turned up at. If it wasn't due to a sword or musket blow, it was trench foot or self inflicted. The final straw was when I was trying to help a rather drunk fellow musketeer (and member of this forum) expel the contents of his stomach after a rather disgusting regimental bucket evening. I was pushing my fingers down his throat when a gag reflex made him clamp his jaw down hard on me - silly bugger! Everyone in the regiment it would appear seemed to get a name, hence mine became Digits. |

Cool topic ![]() My name comes from being a football fan. I don't know how aware people are of them, but many clubs around the world have a hardcore group of fans, called Ultras. They are often linked with violence, especially in Italy, but that's not always the case, some groups of them are just passionate supporters. Anyway, 5 or 6 years back there was a group of about 8 of us who used to go to matches together, and we jokingly called ourselves the Wigan Ultras. So for want of a better idea, I used the name to sign up for some forum or other and have continued to use it. My avatar obviously is just a model I painted that I was quite pleased with, and my sig just tends to be a banner for whatever campaign/thing is going on. HMD: Always loved your avatar, Thrawn is a great character. |

Brambleten is the name i use on most forums/games i use, although i have started using Tellos as well for things. Bramble was the name of my first dog, and it was going to be my runescape user, but it was taken, so i stuck ten on the end, and it has stuck. Avatar is my awesome Sartosan vampire, as i think that if i had Megan Fox or Jessica Alba i may appear obsessed. sig is links to my vampire plog, my everything else plog, and the Team |
