Odd question concerning CSM Varients1; Noise Marines and such

I've got a question concerning how to create units like Noise Marines and Plauge Marines

Are they basicly the stadard marines with additions like the symbols and new weapon choices? Or do they have an entirely new profile and choices I have to work with?

I'm no expert on noise marines - I've not seen too many about but they do seem to have completely different looking weapons.

As for plague marines, there are a few great project logs on here showing both colour schemes and conversions. El Diablo is painting some right now....

Someone summoned me?

Your question is a bit of an odd one - are you after the modelling aspect or the army list aspect?

If it's the army list aspect, each of the marked marine types (Khorne Berzerkers, Slannesh Noise Marines, Tzeentch Thousand Sons and Nurgle Plague Marines) have a separate profile in the army list, and each has different equipment options, special rules and points costs.

From the modelling aspect, each of the choices has currently a way to do them 'straight out of the box' -
Khorne Berzerkers.
Noise Marines.
Thousand Sons.
Plague Marines.

Those are the basic boxes you can get from GW, though for Noise Marines i'd recommend getting hold of the Sonic Weapons bitz pack - this will give you more sonic weapons for Noise Marines as the squad box only contains 2.

If you want to play around with green stuff, then your going to have fun with Plague Marines. Nurgle style details are very easy to add to plastic CSM figures if you don't want to go with metal figures.

Or, if you fancy some resin, Forge World do some great upgrade packs for Plagur Marines and Plague Marine Terminators, which are just terminators with the Mark of Nurgle. Im using these 2 packs for my own Nurgle army, which starts from this page of my log.

Thats about all my heat ravaged brain can come up with right now, if you've got any more questions just ask and if I can't help, im sure someone else can.

I was looking for the ruleset aspect, as I was hoping to include them as elites for my Lost and the Damned, but thanks for the paint and model info as well ^^ *goes look in the codex real quick to find the info*

Edit: I found where they discuss the variations, but didn't find anything on the info for them, beyond the weapon choices in the different god areas and the mentioning of the elite/troop choice specialty rule after the Chaos Marine profile. Hmm...

and which version 'dex are you using? because it sounds like (if they share one profile anyways) that youve got the 3rd edition codex not the 4th...

hehe i havent bothered with the new one :P

to answer your original question - in the third edition 'dex the models were simply given the appropriate mark for the right cost and then you looked at that book of chaos towards the back of the dex for the effects that mark had :)

Though now I found sources for 4th and 5th rules, it's all less messy ^^;

The only bad thing I see is there's no more individuality for lesser and greater demons, to tell the difference between Plaugebearers and Deamonettes besides the Mark, and they removed the Fast Attack demons ;^; I used to like those options...

yeah, the individuality of the daemons got lost in C:CSM, but then got put into C:Chaos Daemons

That being said, if playing a chaos-based group in an Acopalyce game, you can field summoned demons using Chaos Demon rules with your Chaos Space Marines.

Ah, loopholes ^,^
