I've edited the first post, and changed the topic title.

Every news site has pretty much confirmed he has died.

RIP.

Saw it on CNN as well as BBC and Sky. General consensus appears to be that he aint dead yet, but as far as anyone actually knows he was found not breathing and take to hospital, nothing more. Given that he's probably in the care of some of the finest physicians on the planet, and he is only 50, I'd expect the chances of not-death to be good.

Dave out.

RIP. His personal life was an utter mess straight from his childhood onward, but damn, the guy was talented. He was an epic figure in modern music, had the highest selling album of all time, and perhaps the best stage performer of our generation.

This also might be the best music video of all time.

Please be respectful and NOT, derail this thread and keep it civil.

Digits, has given a last warning to anyone that does.

That was edited into the first post a while ago.

Children.

Any post that does not slavishly conform to the following paradigms:

"What a loss", "I'm sorry to see he's gone" or "My condolences"

Is unlikely to be what we're going to consider as pertinent or respectful.

You're all grown ups.

Just a thought, but perhaps this could also be a place for people to remember that Farrah Fawcett has also died.

I found out when in the pub last night celebrating my graduation. For a while everyone was unsure as to if he was actually dead or just in hospital, then the news on the tv said he had died.

Again, as some people, personally wasn't a particular fan, but I can appreciate the loss of a music and performing icon, no matter how he was in private, to his fans its how he was in public that mattered.

And 50 is way to young to die these days, real shame. RIP MJ.

Indeed it is. I mean, my Grans 82 and has 2 different cancers, and shes still going strong.

RIP Micheal Jackson, one of the last great pop legends, he will be sorely missed by everyone, even if they were not too fond of him. I don't think anyone can't name at least 3 MJ songs, that just proves how great he was. I can't name 1 song by a modern artist/group.

RIP Michael Jackson

Although i'm supposed to be the grim metal head :P i must admit that although i wasn't a massive fan, i did like his music was always upbeat and i know my friends agree. Like others have said though his personal life was a huge mess he was a massive Icon.

Hmmm, Thriller, ABC, Smooth Criminal, Beat it...

im already ahead of the curve, and ive never actually sat down and intentionally listened to his music, think that gives you an idea just how successful he was.

And theres always Cliff Richard...

Thriller, Beat It, Billy Jean? thats all i know :$

I wouldnt call myself a fan, but i have occasionally listened to the odd song, and he is going to be missed. As said on TV this morning, now a days you have pop stars. He however, was an icon.

You know who I feel sorry for out of this, aside from his immediate family and close friends. . . The fans. No, not the run of the mill "oh, he was cool" fans. But the "I must see him at the O2 and spent thousands on ebay for tickets and will now only get the face value of the tickets back" fans. That must have been such a kick in the stones, eh?

Dave out.

His music, in particular Thriller and Bad, was the soundtrack to my childhood. Despite all the controversy later in his life, the name Michael Jackson will always mean awesome music on my casette player to me.
