Most people reading this will remember Ammobunker taking part in Games Day '08 with two gaming tables and the Project WIP table. By now you may of been expecting something to of been said in regards to this years Games Day, especially after the success of last year. Unfortunately AB won't be taking an active part in this years event. While it was seen by everybody (AB members, the visitors & GW staff) as a resounding success the fact remains we won't be able to take part due to the criteria that GW and their legal team set for participating groups. Last year we were able to take part without meeting the criteria as it was an experiment of sorts, but this year we have been told that while they would like us back we can't take part again untill we do. Now we are working on a solution to this but even if it is all resolved and in place by this Monday it is far too late for us to organise and produce everything in time for September. Last year took an immense amount of work in a short amount of time, with us being a forum rather than a gaming club it makes it even harder to pool resources and spread the workload and with no experience in taking part the level we achieved was pretty amazing (if I do say so myself...). We hope to be in a position to take part in Games Day 2010. Before then we will of course have The Open Bash 2010, which with us being able to concentrate on it with no GD presence it should be the best yet. Last year the tables were the hub of AB's membership at GD with people meeting up and hanging out there. Not having the tables means we lose that but it does mean that other things are possible, such as a mass meet up at a given time and place. If people are interested in this please pipe up and we will see about getting something organised in time for the day. And remember, meet up or not, to wear your AB T-shirt to the day... |

GW Legal need the participants to belong to an official group, and by that they basically mean a store, or a gaming club as part of the Gaming Club Network. Now a criteria of the GCN is that you have a fixed meeting place and hgold regular meetings, obviously a hard thing to do for an online forum. Again, this is what we are working on, since there are a few members who are already part of clubs etc. As Matt said though, even if that gets sorted in the near future, we still can't participate at this years UK GD. |

Just have everyone, who can, go and where the T-shirts. Bring your awesome armies and show them to who wants to see them. Have your screen names somewhere so people know who you are .

As mentioned by Kayvaan the only people who take part are GW themselves and GCN member clubs. GW do have legitimate reasons for this and I don't want this thread to get derailed into discusing what cannot be changed. This is the way things are full stop. We are trying to arrange something for future events but this really comes down to the GCN. When we have information to give we will do, untill then let's keep this thread on what can be done on the day. |

As mentioned in a PM to Rictus, I think I can get hold of pin on plastic name badges through work, I'll grab a couple of boxes and bring them along, I'll try to print out some simple cards for them too, something along the lines of this below, but with an AB logo and in colour..... DAMN must type faster ...Gonzo! a man of few words. (right up to that second post) Yeah it is a bit dissapointing but in some ways it is a bit of a blessing. As Rictus said it did require a lot of work and while it was definitely worth it, it did take a lot out of us. We are certainly not ruling out future attendance, but as has been said The Bash 2010 is the main target and this year ? well we get to enjoy the usual features of GD ( you know being pressed up to a couple of hundred sweaty people in the FW queue) since last year all we managed was about half an hour walk round and back to managing the tables. I even had a seminar ticket and didn't go. Fear not Bunker dwellers our time will come again. I aggree with Gav big meet up. Hordes of Bunker dwellers roaming around in large numbers frightening small children and smiling knowingly at persons from 'other places'......hang on ! thats probably not the best idea .....ignore my rambling.... While this is a bit of a shame, at least we do still have The Bash. Obviously if the criteria can't be met then we'll just have to work around it some way or other. Still, a meet up would be cool. Just a shame we'll have to buy the bloody tickets. Dave out. |
