Anyway, enough whining. I want to get hold of one now to convince myself wrong.

same... deffo buying one,

Yet again GW increase prices, yet again we (myself included) bellyache and complain and like every other occasion nothing will happen and we'll all continue to buy the kit.

Unimpressed with GW over this, but at the end of the day, there's always other retailers than GW selling the product cheaper. I'll be going online for mine, though I won't be buying as many as I first thought.

It is a very sexy kit though, even if they have dumbed it down - all the options in the world are great, but I want my running wheels back!

i happy that there isnt wheels. putting wheels in means more chance for me to screw the tracks up, where as now there appears to be less chance of that happening. if i actually buy one.

It was good at first, everything we wanted, new turret, plastic weapons (lots of them), even fixed exhausts - then they remove everything we're used to.

I haven't bought a Russ since they were selling them in a box of three for £50. An occasion when I thought one of the GW higher ups was on crack, if that was the case then he's obviously 'on a downer' with this new idea of charging £30 for two sprues.
I don't need dozens of tanks and so being able to build them in 5mins isn't a problem. I quite like doing the wheels, missing some out and using for stowage and all that nonsense. The fact the kit doesn't have a stubber is a bit too far, the smoke launchers are horrible aswell.
And I admit I'd convert them anyway or scratchbuild them but that's irrelevant, the removal of choice and an increase of price seems like such an antithesis of any standard business practice and it feels like being told to Foxtrot off by GW.

I don't envisage myself wanting to buy a Russ, doesn't mean I won't, because invariably I will, I'm what Nazi historians would call a passive resister, whilst I dislike what's being done there's little I'm going to do about it.

On the upside the Baneblade and Shadowsword are two of the nicest kits GW have produced, so I'll just have to replace Russes with them...

Sorry for the diatribe there...

So let me get this right - the new Russ kit doesn't have track guards or a stubber!? Tell me you're joking? It's ok selling the accessory sprue, but that's another £8. I was thinking of a squadron of demolishers but don't think I'll both now.

Although saying that might just get three normal Russ's and some FW turrets. Does the normal Russ kit still have all the extras?

Time to stock up.

I also noticed that you can pick up a complete Vanquisher kit form FW for just a tiny bit under £30 - so think I'll be going with that option instead.

just checking FW, and an executioner complete kit is the same price as the demolisher/executioner/punisher kit, so its pretty close for a change, rather than FW being more expensive by a country mile

The fw dk demolisher turret is MUCH nicer anyway!

as far as the executioner goes, i have to admit i like the new plastic one, as it looks more like a stormblade cannon and other plasma weapons, which are reasonably rectangluar, rather than being round like the FW varient/s

yeah, the FW one is definately a tad dated in design...

Meh, its dated, but thats no bad thing. Its good to see some variety in the designs, though.

It's just a sad state of affairs when "premium" FW stuff is the same price as the normal kits. I am not a FW snob, and I hate bashing GW for pricing as I think we generally pay a poor price. But to take out both the metal sections, and the accessory sprue and then charge £30 for it is a bit much. As mentioned, with FW now pretty much on a par that's where even more of my money will go.
