confirmed in august White Dwarf (UK) that there will be an accessory pack called the "Leman Russ Accessory Sprue" Which is really just the old hull sprue, including old style sponson weapons, old style front pillbox and old weapons for that, and old turret with old battlecannon on. So to buy a leman russ is gonna cost an absolute stack load (Buy a kit with a newly raised price then get the accessory pack). Guess im gonna grab a stackload of pcard tubing and scratch my own roadwheels for russes then... because i have to say i do like the fact that FINALLY the weapons for sponsons and hull are cool looking

Having seen the sprues and potential for wallet death, I must say I am glad I jumped ship from 40K to FoW. Should I ever return, it'll likely be a highly elite army I'll go for. So Marines (again) or Eldar. I think it is a shame that GW have done what they've done with their newer releases. They had a lot of potential for cool but its been pushed aside for the far more important fact of making enough money to keep the company afloat. I really hope they stop fooling around once the financial markets are stable again. Dave out. |

had a look at the kit yesterday, here are my likes and dislikes: Likes:
Those points were taken from a 10 minute gander at a full assembled and painted model, the track guards comment is just reiterated from what digits reported ![]() Edit: Shad - you totally stole that from TSOALR

Take a gander at Warseer thread - sprues shown. I do however like the new commander head - real tanker at last! Nice hand pose too. With luck, they will add a different crew option when they do the standard russ for more options. http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=200118 |

Quick question, do you still get the sprue with the stowage on, track guards etc in the kit - or just the two sprues shown? |

Well I'm [tinkle]ed. I know we've all seen the sprue pics, and have been moaning, but this = 30 pounds. (plasma parts already removed, need to work on them...) ![]() This is barely more than what you get inside a rhino, which costs 18-20 pounds, whilst its nothing compared to what you get in a russ kit, which is 5 pounds cheaper. Or compare it with the 35 pound Land Raider kits, which make this thing look like an ork buggy. It's amusing that GW are pricing this as if it's still a metal kit, although even that had way more parts. The only good things are the weapons, so, I'd suggest you just bits order which weapons you need from a bits site, and buy a normal russ, shouldn't come out much more (if at all) than 30 quid. tepok, i agree completely. The reason they are pricing this as a metal kit (as stated in the 08-09 financial report) that plastic kits have exceeded the detail levels of the metal kits, and so should be sold at a price that reflects that. Now GW were fair to crank up the price of metal minis last summer when tin shot up by 50%, but there was no need to raise them again once the price of tin dropped, and then charge even more for the new plastic kits. At the current rate of price increase in 5 years its gonna cost 35 quid to buy a russ :/ |

Extra detail? Like adding 20 rivits? Or getting rid of door hinges? Or making seperate pieces all part of a larger one? Or by making a gattler that looks like it's been designed by a 5 year old? Tepok |

Extra detail? I think it's the larger turret. |

I don't know I think the pink VW beattle land raider proxy was pretty bad. Which that reminds me of a funny story but it's to long I'll put it under the battle reports as proxy story. |

whereas the price has gone down by 5 quid for us, but thats it... and tepok: that was purely what Tom Kirby stated, think he meant they have the capability to make plastic moulds with more detail than metal ones now. |

Many of us don't have that luxury though! Unfortunately I will end up buying some but not in the numbers I have in the past.....I don't mind paying for resin but I am slowly getting turned off by this kind of cynical marketing when it comes to plastic kits. I had thought many plastic kits were good for the extras but this one has seriously reversed that trend! Anyway, enough whining. I want to get hold of one now to convince myself wrong. http://www.waylandgames.co.uk/games-workshop/warhammer-40k/imperial-guard/imperial-guard-leman-russ-demolisher-pre-order/prod_5369.html?added=1 20% off Edited by Digits, 29 Jul 2009, 11:47 PM.
