I don't think they're banning ebay sales are they? They're just restricting the channels they sell to to official sellers (including indpendant stockists) as far as I understood.

I've noticed this too, for a long time i've been keeping an eye on ebay for a delaque necromunda gang, but they frequently go for more than you'd pay buying them off the specalist games bit of the GW direct site. It's crazy..

Just got the following email from ebay: it indicates that they have noticed manufacturers cutting off middlemen who sell on ebay, and they are not happy about it.

Quote:

eBay was built on a simple idea - that we could empower people by building a global trading platform where practically anyone could buy or sell practically anything. But that idea is now under threat from certain brand owners and manufacturers who are trying to turn back the clock and block the sale of their products on online marketplaces and other websites across the EU.

Ultimately, what is at stake is the right of sellers to compete
fairly in the wider online marketplace, and the right of buyers
to be able to access the best possible deals from the widest
possible selection of goods.

Some of these brand owners argue that their objective is to prevent the sale of counterfeits on eBay.
But thanks to our work with 31,000 other rights owners, only 0.15% of listings last year were detected or
reported as potentially counterfeit. The real aim of these brands is to block the sale of all their products on our site - regardless of whether such items are new or second-hand, genuine or fake. It's not just luxury items that are affected, but also everyday items like children's toys, electronic equipment, lawnmowers and pushchairs. And if we want to prevent other brand owners from following suit, we need to act now.

We are therefore calling on European policymakers to amend EU competition law to stop these unfair
trade practices. But we need your help to persuade them to take action. If you would like to join our
campaign against online trade barriers, please sign our petition.

Regards,
Your eBay Team

I didn't use ebay but I can see how it would affect those who can take horrible models and make masterpieces from them for half the cost of a new one.

Righ, just got this, sums things up!

Dear jason price

Thank you for your recent order of Games Workshop products on Ebay.

As you may be aware Games Workshop have changed their trading terms for all official retailers of their products. The 2 main changes being:

1. Official Games Workshop Retailers are no longer allowed to sell Games Workshop products on Ebay, or any other similar 3rd party site.

2. Large trade price increases for
internet retailers. They do not like the levels of discounts internet retailers having been giving their
customers.

It is not all bad news though. At Buy 4 Less we have managed to maintain a very good discount on Games Workshop products on our website, www.buyforlessonline.co.uk, and as you will notice we have also had a complete make over, making our website very easy to navigate and hopefully a pleasurable place to shop.

Our website is designed to have exactly the same customer experience as our Ebay shop, so all of our valued Ebay customers feel at home on our website. As we have no Ebay fees our website prices are slightly cheaper than you are used to on Ebay, and we
have kept our excellent combined shipping rates that we use on Ebay.
CLAIM YOUR 5% DISCOUNT

Please visit our new site at www.buyforlessonline.co.uk and see what you think.

As a thank you for your valued custom we are offering a 5% discount on any orders which are made on our website
before 31st July 2009. To claim your discount just enter the promotional code 'WELCOME' in our checkout. You can use this discount code as often as you like until 31st July 2009.

Regards

The Buy 4 Less Team
