Anyone here have any experience using solidworks? Coming from a mainly 2D AutoCAD background I guess it's going to be quite different. I did do 1 term doing the basics of ProE, but that was 10 years ago now and I'm not sure Google Sketchup is much help either |

I can work with solid works, not that I'm a master in using it, but I can some stuff with it. It is the program my school uses for drawing mechanical designs. I'm rather happy with it

Specifically it's for a job I want to apply for, Solidworks is listed as a desirable skill, but it is an apprentice job so I guess they're ready to train me in whatever they use - it's mainly whether I'm going to be able pick it up without much experience |

Well before I went to Kaho, were I learned Solid works I learned drawing in Robocad and Auto cad. We had some basic lessons in the first year, but it is not that difficult to pick up. There are now still functions I can't use, you can do a lot with that program. But you don't need to worry, it isn't the devil himself you got to control. |

Not knowing what your background with Auto-CAD, if your drafter you should be able to work it with some mastery of skill in oh 4-20 days. (has's worked with it) the short cuts, and commads will take time to learn. |

I'm a 2nd Year Trainee Engineer Draftsperson, and the company I work for mainly uses Inventor, which I think is basically Solidworks with different names for commands. I've got experince using Inventor 2009, also, I know how to use AutoCAD, ArchiCAD, 3DS MAX, and learning how to use Maya. If you've got any problems, feel free to ask me for help. |
