Well the past few days i've been sorting out a lot of stuff in me room, and during that i found something I though you lot might like to see. Its the original introduction booklet i got when I first started this hobby its tattered up but brings back the memories. Don't think GW make anything similar these days.

I must have had loads of them over the years, not anymore though.
Nice to see the ultra-smurfs army with all red weapons!

I had a few of those back in the day, but probably not anymore, though I think my old WDs from 1998 to about 2001/02 are still around somewhere. *gets nostalgic about when WD used to be an interesting hobby magazine rather than a big advertisment you pay to look at*

The pic on the centrefold of that leaflet is a classic. The models back then were complete [Not on the floor please] compared to what we have now, but nostalgia inspires me with such a fondess for them :)

I remember those
I think I got one when I first started playing,

I had a pile of those.
They all got recycled when I was rationalising my stuff before moving in with the to-be-mrs.

I still have a batch of old pre-200 WDs, though. They're usually worth a re-read.

Ah I remember that. 6-year old little Timmy getting his first glimpse of the hobby. You can tell I haven't come very far :P

I was thinking the same thing when i was looking back through it, quite scary how much the models have improved in a relatively short amount of time.

My first one was a strictly 40k catalogue, the cover was a pimpin' picture of Asmodai seeming to say, 'Hay guys!! Mah sword is teh biggest!!!!111one'.

Lol yeah, bright blue armour, bright yellow trim, and bright red guns! Not just the models that weren't as good back then, the colour schemes were awful! :)

awww yea, but it got me into warhammer. Well, iron warriors did. and lets face it, their scheme was a bit ahead of the curve...

I've still got one of those lying around too, but the real nostalgia hit me when half a year ago I found my 2nd edition starter set (funny fact: It was the german version, but I can't read german :-/ ). With the starterset were also a couple of cardboard vortex grenades which I used at the following apoc game :P .

Now this is what I call nostalgia...

Imperial Army (not your new fandangled Guard mind you!) Minotaur circa 1987. See we used to make do with these brutes in my day not like you youngsters and your fancy plastic kits.
We had to get up half and hour before we went to bed, feed the abhumans, build most of our tanks from washing up bottles and we were bloody grateful!!!!

This is my idea of nostalgia. ;)

I just got a little bit of sick in my mouth. That's nearly as bad as the metal Possessed. Kinda glad I'm too young to have been collecting in '87 :)

Now come on, ya dont mean that. Nothing was as bad as the YMCA Metal Possessed ;)

I cant claim any Nostalgia really as I've only been in the hobby for 3 years, unless you include owning Heroquest waaaay back :)

Nah worst ones were the Marauder World Eaters. I've got some knocking about somewhere I'll dust them off and post a picture. God they were ugly!

If they're the ones I'm thinking of, I rather liked them :) The odd bare arm or leg here and there? Or were they older than that?
