I have heard rumours of plastic Thunderhawk as have many others, indeed with Planetstrike released this Summer, it is inevitable. I reckon pre release for Gamesday. My reasoning, simple, GW need another sure fired winner in the fall, AND, the official coach seating plan I just saw up in Stockport GW, is laid out on a Thunderhawk floor plan! Mark my words! (Edit: I've also heard it's done, they are just jigling the sprues around so they can fit it in a box that will sit on GW's shelves) Edited by Digits, 21 Aug 2009, 06:05 PM.

That would be awesome and horrible at the same time. Awesome for obvious reasons, horrible as there's no way any rational argument is going to stop me from impuls buying it! |

I'd be sorely tempted if/when it does appear. The Forgeworld version has always tempted me, so be interested to see how close any plastic version would look to that. Certainly go nicely with a company force |

@deamon forge- Doors would probably be rhino sized so that they could be changed with forgeworld versions, that or forgeworld will just re do and sell the doors like chapter rhino doors. @ digits - Games workshop chester has there's as a thunderhawk layout, but the guys said it was only for laughs. Not sure whether to believe them though. Also i doubt that they would really need a small box, just look at the chapter box set they did for apoc,in my store thay simply piled 5 or so on the floor as a display. However all of this is irrevlevant as i definetly belive that there will never be a plastic thunderhawk, After all the cost to sale ratio would be tiny. The cost of design and manufacture of the baneblade cost around £500'000, and a thunderhawk is way bigger than twice the size so even at £100 about 1500 models would have to be sold (given that, that much plastic is expensieve aswell as the card for the mahoosive box). But now that i think about it that probably isn't such a large number. After all I reckon more than 1500 of the cityfight sets were sold so on second thoughts i believe that this could possibly work financially. LOL I changed my mind through the rant. Still though it may pe possible i am very sceptical and think that this is all going to end up with nothing, hopefully however i am wrong. |

Got precisely no Space Marines and I'd still get one. Or three. I'd also say the smart money is on the £100 mark, I imagine that it's just too big a kit to be anything less. As for the doors, with the current GW fashion of loads of options, they might do several different doors. |

Just thought about it and they will brobably do as they did with the drop pod doors, extra symbols plates that slot into the door in some notches.

Ah, but any plastic door based chapter specific components on the T'hawk will do nicely on a Rhino or Raider (never mind using the expensive FW ones). I first heard about this over a year ago, and was "informed" that the idea was sound, but they were having trouble with sprue layout, as has been said, and also making sure that the thing won't colapse under its own weight. After all, its a big puppy, and plastic is a lot denser and weaker than some resins. I reckon the major portions of the hull structure, not including doors and such, will run well into double figures. Possibly three or four sub sections to make up one side of it. Still, I wants. Dave out. |

Entertainment officer...Meet the gang cos the boys are here.....

Could it be kitbashed into an IG lander? thats all I want to know. One thing to consider. It was suggested previously that the SM chapters that would 'feature' in planet strike were not the usual suspects (though that DA fortress in the book kind of opens that up to question). one of the chapters suggested were the Hawklords a chapter I have quite a keen interest in since there is a definite link there to Hawkwind (one of my favourite bands). The sharp eyed among you will note that in the SM codex it clearly states that these boys dont do drop pods they THawk insert only and that other chapters send their pilots to train with the H'lords.....make of that what you will yes its a tenuous link....but it keeps me happy |

I doubt there is a marine player anywhere who wouldn't entertain the idea of atleast one, even if they are £100 squids. I know people that have stompas and don't collect orks. On a side not MRS Gonzo has always liked the transporter version FW do, so even someone that doesn't "do" 40K has an interest in a flying piece of plastic 1/4 the price of the FW version. Bring it GW, my credit card is waiting. |

i'll be interested in how good it looks in plastic but i doubt i will ever get one for the same reason as i don't have any other super heavies, they are 2 big haven't really got the space for em. Ive got a feeling that it might be more than £100 given that 10 of the new greatswords are gonna be £25. |

Yup, I thought of that too. Could make a tremendous piece of scenery. I've gone right off marines myself, but I could be tempted to do a small force of maybe deathwatch. |

damn you Digits! you've just given me the inspiration to do a deathwatch thing from the Tyranids book from the Ultramarine omnibus (where Ventris leads a deathwatch squad in a thunderhawk into the heart of the big bio-organism thing) |
