I was talking to a mate of mine who is a sales assistant in a GW store, according to him the pirices are not just going up, he said that the prices of battleforce type boxes is going to change so that all of the boxes save around 15% in total off the total reatil cost, so boxes with large saving will incerase in price and boxes with low saving will decrease in price. I think he said that the necrtons would be decreasing, but dont quote me on that. |

As I said in my edit I was typing when you were posting. GW's whole concept of making plastic minis to make collecting cheaper is the reason I am irritated. For Warhmmer I am less worried about conversions and it wasn't that long ago I could get a box of 10 metal Greatswords for 45 USD. I know that's pricey but they were Metal. I'll let it drop now, I don't wanna be the only one who's got Nerd rage here. It's Ok we all have different opinions on what's too much. |

The info suggests £12 plastic boxes are being put up to £15. Happy for that to be wrong. Then again it's £12 for a shrieker jetbike now because of minimal metal parts. Edited by Keravin, 24 Apr 2009, 08:18 PM.

The metal greatswords are nicer figures than the plastic. True they don't have the easy conversion, but the price rise on those is pretty stupid. The steam tank pricing in comparison is a lot more sensible. If GW wanted to be up front with customers it would tell people now what the rises are. it's not in this month's WD and the website has a minimal statement on it. Seriously guys, if we wan't to moan about prices ten let's do some reading on the budget that was proposed in Britain at 11 Downing Street the other day. There are more frightening things in life and the worlds economic future right now than slightly more expensive models. Though something must have gone wrong with the very fabric of the universe because I have just disagreed with Keravin but agreed with Old Guard. That never happens. I think I should go and make some Dairylea on toast and calm down. ![]() edit- Nope, it still feels weird. I'm hoping a cup of tea will sort it... lol Edited by The Antipope, 25 Apr 2009, 12:44 AM.

this is what happens when you limit your hobby to one manufacturer, not a critism , i'm just the same, if we had a comparison where we could say X is cheaper we'd have something to moan about,or use instead, but we generaly don't, GW make the toys we want, and what they charge, is within reason, up to them. we'll pay it- they know that ,if not then an army of potential new us's piles in at 3.30 everyday i think anyone who works in manufacturing at the minute (and lets not forget thats GW is)will tell you it's twitchy sphinkter time, lots of jobs in well established companies are falling alll around and if they can take steps to safeguard their position- it would be criminal not to, i'm sure you'd do the same. and lets be honest- we've all got more than enough toys to keep us going for years if we stopped buying now |

In Canada, the price of food has shot up almost 10% in the last year. That is something I will complain about, as I need it to live and I spend much more money on that. Miniatures were a luxury from the start for me, as it's just a hobby. I'll worry about keeping myself fed first, along with all the other necessitites of life which have recently increased in price - miniatures are a low priority.

indeed bodhi, the whole price rise of living in canada, coupled with the crash of the english markets relative to the canadian ones meant that all of a sudden the costs for me for this trip were doubled... |

A rise of almost 10% can't double the cost of something Dave. |

Spoken with the local store staff today, the only confirmations he had were that battleforces would be going up in price and that the blister packs would be changing, though he said he didn't know how. And didnt mean to start this thread as a tirade against global markets or GW in particular, just to make people who hadnt realised aware that the prices would be going up. (ducks back behind his barricade!) |
