Oh no don't start this. Theres already tons of pointless bitching about this on every other forum ever... ^o)

Edit- It's hardly stealthy either. It's advertised on their site for crying out loud. Also you have been given a months notice so it hasn't been 'snuck' in.

They are releasing a list on the 27th of April for the retailers, so we'll know soon after that.

In the latest 40K radio podcast they seem to think Terminators will go from 50 up to 60 USD per box and all 35 dollar squad/unit boxes will go to 40 USD.

Terminators are already expensive enough, if they raise the price I'll just have to convert AoBR termies for my Marine armies.

How do I avoid the price rises?

I use this website, sure it doesn't have 100% of gws minis, but it has a fair few, and who is going to argue with 20%+ off RRP?

If you go to the Links section, theres a list of companies that give you 30% off prices. All I can say is buy the expensive stuff now before they go up.

As Antipope stated, its life, raw materials and fuel (cheers Darling) have gone up, so its passed onto us, GW has to make a profit at the end of the day.

Fuel went up. Raw materials haven't.

Other manufacturers are reducing their prices.

GW intend to almost double the cost of Cadians - 10 for £15 for example.

Do you really want GW to go out of business? They have been running in the red for quite a bit now and have finally started to close non profitable shops and reorganise. This price rise is part of that. More money going out than what is coming in means you are giving away the company... That is not a long term business plan.

This then is your choice: Pay higher prices or not have shiny new products or rules... Ever.

No I want them to run like a business.

Ditch the bloody stores if they are losing you money.

Do sales.

Stop [tinkle]ing off your customer base.

Every price rise reduces the number of people prepared to pay it.

And in the middle of a recession it's even more stupid.

Once again proving the irrelevance of the stores.

I was asked last week why I had bought from online with the big IG order I made and my response was the shop does nothing for me and I have no loyalty to it.

GW want to make a profit then they need to think about what the shops actually do, because frankly it's usually just providing a creche.

I didnt want to start an argument thread or to bitch and moan about GW. It was just the fact that nothing made it to WD which is at least 3 months ahead, so its either short notice or just little raved about. If they put up their prices its nothing to me. I do 95% of my shopping on the web away from GW, cheaper there

No he doesnt. The stores most important role is to play the games they sell, the fact that you can go and be guaranteed a game using models you've bought from that company is an extreme boon to sales. The stock in the stores is not that important - unless you play a game, realise "I need.." and pick it up off the shelf.

Privateer Press cant guarantee you a game...or decent casts unfortunately. As Antipope said, pay for a Lexus, get a Lexus. Pay for a Mini, get Privateer Press...or something.

Another thing the stores do is bring in new people to the hobby, a website alone will not draw in as many new people as a store on a busy street/shopping centre will. You may not like all the kids and what not in the stores, but they are customers just the same and they most likely get the stuff from a store rather than online.

Entertainment officer...Meet the gang cos the boys are here.....
well not entirely he doesnt...the cadians are £12 for 10 not £15. in line with other armies IE orks for example.
and following tinners point I was once told, And i cant vouch for the truth of this, that 'THE PLAN' is getting feet through the door. that your average blue shirt is gauged upon the number of startup games he can get going to assure bussiness in the long term. the little annoying sparkly eyed lad is tomorrows big spending veteran. however all that asside.......

Its life, suck it up. Prices rise! The whole of the capitalist system is based upon the fact that prices rise. Yes we are in a recession and yes some areas of industry have reduced their prices but that is not an automatic call for all companies to do likewise. Ford reducing the cost of a fiesta has diddly squat to do with GW.
I have said this before and at the risk of repeating myself. This is a hobby, ergo it is a luxury activity. People spend stupid and I mean FW city wall prices for a single golf club! why? because they want to play and they think that that club is the key to success.
GW or indeed any commercial enterprise is not a charity. Does that mean that I will welcome every price hike ? well of course not but it is a fact of life and ultimately the question has to be asked do I want (can I afford) to do this? if the answer is yes then push on if not then take up golf.

The options are there. use independent/online retailers if you want to save money.

Frankly I came here to avoid the 'GW are Thieving Evil Empire', they are not the only model maker that raises it prices. why is a Tamyia Panther more expensive than a Italeri or Dragon panther? and where else do you get the number and by and large quality of releases in the wargames field? and I am getting tired of this old chesnut coming up every onece in a while. This is a short step from 'OH no the bar stewards have broken this or that army' as if they have made it their mission in life to single someone out and make that army list of theirs unviable.

If people want to whinge there is a place we know where they have specialists that you can seek solace with.
I do not mean to single any one out here or have a pop at anyone. I understand fully that everyone (me included) wants their hard earned Pound,Dollar,Euro,Grote or yak to go as far as is possible but really what the hell does this achieve!

So with that in mind can we call an end to this please?

I just looked at the US site and the pre-order of the greatswords are listed at 41.25. So roughly 42 bucks for ten Plastic WFB models!?! That's Frakin' highway robbery.

Well after 25 glorious years of collecting GW miniatures it looks like my limit has been reached. I'll still pay 40K and WFB, but I will build no new Armies that I don't already have the models for; BTW that is a lot of minis and armies. For those armies I will probably make very selective purchase to flesh out a few units.

Edit sorry Old Guard, I was typing while you posted. I'll let it drop now.
