So it goes like this: I get home in three weeks, shortly after which it is my birthday. Now i have a few ideas when it comes to my next army: Tau Auxiliaries Mounted Infantry/Armoured Company is the army, but here are the questions: Do i play them counts as guard or tau? Do they get desert or jungle catmoflarj? What do you people think of when you think tau auxiliaries superheavy? Do you think BB with tau markings or BB with the odd tau gun? Or even BB chassis that floats off the ground, fields exclusively tau weaponry etc? Doubtless my return home will see a rise in the percentage of my life frittered away looking at and posting on AB as well

Well then. I'd say desert camo, counts as guard although you could do tau as easily, and for the superheavy a streamlined anti-grav baneblade with some of the signature tau things such as weapons, hatches, cool viewports etc. Sounds like a great project, be good to see it |

Personally, I'd go for counts as guard if it's all auxilliaries. However, if you're mixing in Tau or going Apoc size, you could do Tau. Jungle splinter camo is the way forward, think it could be a very nice scheme. And sure, I don't see why they wouldn't have Baneblades etc. I can't see why the Tau would conquer a world and then get rid of all the powerful new stuff they've got. I'd personally keep the Tau additions to a minimum, I imagine that the Tau alterations would be quite subtle, like improving the engine, and perhaps swapping the odd weapon. |

I'd say desert camo too, and not splinter camo, or any fancy German patterns, good old S95 or S94 style camo for the clothing I think. As for Superheavies, if they are humans who are aux to the Tau, keep the Baneblades as normal as possible, but with Tau markings, and as has been said, a few tau weapons, not much though. Bear in mind I think the Tau are intelligent enough to now that the locals military strengths are going to be with the kit they know and use, rather than stuff they are forced to use, i.e Tau weapons. So for basic weapons, use pulse rifles sure, but count them as lasguns. So use the IG codex! |

i would go with what KayvaanShrike because the tau anatomy would be different from a humans so some people wont be able to use tau equipment |

aah, but i would have thought the tau would engineer equipment designed for humans and other physiologies, they did it for the vespid with their armour... this tank would definately see appearance in some form or other: ![]() As would the PI heavy infantry with visorless helmets ![]() ![]()

Those models do definitely look a good mix of Imperial and Tau. I can just as easily see them either leaving the auxilaries with their own equipment, or enhancing it, but certainly the latter would give you more cool modelling opportunities. I would stick to the Guard codex though, as if nothing else, it gives you different units and play style to the Tau you already have. As for the paint scheme, I would make it match your existing Tau, so the two armies make a cohesive whole if used together for Apoc. |

Those helmets look ace for an auxilla, no doubt there. I agree with the others, use the guard rules. In a month, not only will they be new and shiny, but they'll give you something different from you tau. Then again, the basic guardsmen could easily be made so they could count as both Tau and IG, giving you a choice of models. A matching paintscheme would probably be a good idea, with a few differences. Maybe use a different contrasting colour than red? |
