This is the first I have seen of this, although I knew one was being released. The model for the special character Vulkan He'Stan of the Salamanders Chapter. Vulkan He'Stan I do like the Salamanders, and was excited to hear that they were getting a special character etc since its been a few editions since Chaplain Xavier was about. And this model had so much promise, yet I am slightly dissapointed. Cloak is too big I think, I know its supposed to be a proper Chapter Relic n all, but still. The Relic blade is cool, as is the gaunlet with the flamer, but not sure about the random bit sticking out the weapon, nor the icon on his backpack. Apart from that, nice model all in all. But I think that there will be some conversions of this guy that are better than the official model. |

Hopefully he'll be in bits like the other characters, but he looks pretty useful for conversion from what I can see. |

Is there any news/pis regarding Jaghata? khan the white scar guy i would be mor interested in him i have all ways wanted to do a white scar ravenwing style force and he is allowed on a bike if i remember rightly. J5 Edit: its Korrsaro? Khan not Jaghatti? thats the primarch i think

Course hes allowed on a bike lol, his two Wargear choices that come with him are a bike and a sword. But yeah a model of him would be cool. I heard they might be doing a new model for Shrike as well. |

I rather like him. If I recall correctly, the Salamanders have quite the appreciation for relics and master-crafted equipment. I'd be surprised if their leaders weren't pimped up. Xzibit and his crew would probably add some flat-screen monitors and a smoke machine to their armour were they not so busy with cars.

Vee, if you read the fluff in the new marine codex for He'Stan, he is currently on a mission to recover the 9 lost artefacts of the Chapter or something, and so three of his wargear pieces are recovered artefacts. His gauntlet, his cloak and his relic blade. So thats why they are so pimpin, which is fine, I just think that the pose is off, and as has been mentioned, makes him too busy as a model for a 25mm base. If he was more "spread out" maybe and on a 40mm base, might look better. |

Oh yeah, I know his story. Salamanders do love fancy stuff though, well, killer fancy stuff. I'm also of the opinion that all commander models ought to be on a 40mm base, although you might make the exception for Ethreals and other squishy things. |

Yeah, especially marine models, as they look too cramped on 25mm bases, and as a result end up in very 2d poses very often. |

something i found funny is that the cloak billows to the right and the flames go to the left with the ribbon on his spear. the ribbon on the spear may be because he is throwing it but the flames should'nt be going that way., that said though i do like the inside of the cloak with a flame trim. |

From my first impressions, I'm rather liking the model. The large cloak and robe things reminds me of protective overalls, which given that he's a Forgefather seems rather apt. Not entirely keen on the backpack icon, but as with Kantor's banner, it doesn't mean I have to use it. I'd probably see if I couldn't have his staff vertical, planted into the ground for example. But that might change if I see more photos of him before release. As for Planetstrike... yay!

That might be because the flames might be part of the decoration and not actual flames perhaps? I do think the model looks awkward and a bit overcrowded, I wouldve though taht He`stan be based off a Techmarine though. I will buy him though. |

Hmmmm, a nice enough model, certainly, and better than some of the special character sculpts we've seen over the years but he aint no Kharn, Azreal or Eldrad. Some nice ideas on him, but the constraints of fitting him on a 25mm base have, as has been mentioned, cramped him rather brutally. But, yeah. . . Planetstrike. Gnarly. Dave out. |

the reason that i think the fire on the icon is 'real' is because it has been painted so, and bacause if you look at the ring there are slight dimples or holes, theoretically these holes would be used to let feul out, so the fire would burn in the direction of the feul pumped out, which would go in the direction of the wind |

i think what has happed is the person making him has been foursed in to making him because of wusiwug and because he is not in terminator armour GW has not alowed the him to have a bigger base. |

Tournament-wise, the only restriction is that you cannot use a base smaller than the one provided. Putting him on a 40mm base is legitimate. I've seen plenty of tournament armies with heroes on larger bases than the ones provided with them. |
