Freehand banner---not a Rembrandt, but I'm proud of it; my first ever attempt.

I also tried a little freehand on several of the shields. Any guesses about which?

C&C welcome.

Thats a nice looking unit there :)
I remember those old chaos warriors though. Gives me nightmares thinking about how hard they were to rank up properly . . .

Dacone2--Thanks, I'm glad you like 'em. Yes, ranking them was problematic, to say the least. I numbered them on the inside of their bases to help remember how I finally got them to work, and I'm giving serious thought to printing out the whole unit picture and keeping it in the case with them...
I've got a box of the new style warriors, and while I do like the detail and bits, I'm not to keen on the 'sameness' of the pose.

Non picture update: I'm still working on building/converting the Knights and their steeds, as well as the 'reptile' chaos warriors. Not sure what I'll paint next, thinking about a unit of Marauder horsemen.

Thanks, Novogord, glad you like.

Minor update, been doing some work on the knights, more specifically, thier steeds to try and get a little variety in the unit.

Head swaps, maybe a little GS/plasticard work to come.

Added another spike and some DE blades.

Trying to add armor to a Bretonnian horse. Banding sewn on to the caparison with plates on the top. The black areas need to be cleaned up/rounded off a bit. Still lots to do here.

I'm inclined not to mix the walking (left) with the running (right) horses in the same unit, but what do you think?

C&C please, especially the Bret. horse. Thanks.

It's difficult to say without seeing a bit of paint on them to be honest.
How big are the horses compared to a chaos steed?

Actually, I was just looking for feedback on how the p-card work on the Bret. horse looks, and if anyone agrees that the running and walking horses would look strange in the same unit. They're the same size as the armoured steeds are. I've got company right now (posting while the grill is going) so I'll put a few more pictures tomorrow.

Ok, well a day late, but here's more progress on the knights. The steeds are all built, now on to the Knights. I think my attempt to add armor to the Bretonnian horse come out alright, I certainly learned from it.

Anyway, the pictures (they're not great; I managed to convince the batteries in my camera to get these snaps before they completely gave out...)

These are the steeds for my Knights of Khorne.

I'm hoping to finish the other four riders this week, and then start on painting them.

I doubt once the horses have riders and are rall anked up you will notice the different poses.

Khorne knight champion looks pretty good, appropriately imposing.

The Nurgle warriors look very good finished off, nice mix of models giving the unit much more variety which is a nice change from a lot of Fantasy units.

Thanks for your comments, Rictus. I'm glad you like the Nurgle Warriors, variety is certainly what I was hoping for.

Dacone--That's good, I was hoping to make the horses look a little different from one another.

Small update:

Finally finished building the knights for the horses! I thought this unit would go a lot faster than it did, but no worries, I've got around 2 weeks to paint them. Anyway, here they are (if any of the riders look a little crooked/wonky/off it's because they're not attached yet; same goes for shields.

Novogord--Thanks, unfortunantly, some dumb-ass (me) kicked over the tray that they had gotten primed on, and they sort of exploded. Good news--I found all the parts, bad news, I'm throughly disheartened with them now, and feel like putting them up for a looooong time. This month's goal may be in jeopardy....

I think you're right. The horses do look good once they're painted! :)
Nice sorceror. How did you do the gem in his hand?

Nice sorceror. How did you do the gem in his hand?
It is on the model, that is why I like it that much... Those nice little details.

Novogord--Thanks!! I'm glad you like. I liked that Sorceror, too. I've a couple more of the old ones, too.

Dacone2--Thank you, I'm glad that they turned out pretty good. I was really starting to wonder if they were ever gonna get finished. They almost all rank up, too!

The gem is actually part of the mini like Novogord said; I painted it with metallic red base coat, metallic orange after that, and then a thin highlight of the same orange mixed with some yellow. All colors were Reaper paints.

Here's a small teaser of my next unit for the Fantasy Challenge; Marauder Horsemen using way old chaos centaurs.
