Hmmmmm on second thoughts then, that may be a little extreme after painting a nid horde! Dam it.

But slaves are the cheapest unit in the book. Normal Clanrats are 5 pts each before upgrades, and there are other dearer core units. Meanwhile, Rat Ogres for instance are 50 pts each, then you've got your characters, and whatever goodies the new book brings (talk on Warseer of Vermin Lord, Doomwheel and some mega-huge rats). They are definitely a hoard army, but only mentioning Slaves is a bit misleading.

(I make no claim to have any idea what stuff works in a Skaven army, just pointing out that there are plenty options in the book, and 40 pts for 20 slaves is by no means an average unit)

I added them all up this afternoon... With Kayvaan all armies are covered except for Ogre Kingdoms and Dogs of War (that's really not an army anymore is it)... to my knowledge.... The WFB armybook list is not my strong suit...
I'm sitting on an unpainted Tilean DoW army. Pike blocks, armoured crossbows, cannons and heavy cav. (It's quite painful with all them pikes. *snarehit*)

But, I'm not throwing in this time, as I've go too many other projects being worked on already.

Sorry... :P

And WHAT madman wants to do Skaven?

Skaven are an awesome army, they can be tailored to suit any style of play from missile weapons, magic and close combat.
Definately the army to take if you are a fan of the adeptus mechanicus by any means.

Downsides are low leadership and high model count though, but I love ratling guns and rat ogres.

If I hadn't already started chaos I'd be all over them.

skaven are probably the one army i would refuse to do, purely on the fact that i read the lizardmen army book before i read any other WFB background, and that set off a hatred for skaven. it has subsided, but i would still look at all armies above them.

I could almost be tempted to change from High Elves!

As to what I'm buying this weekend - too much. Going to the War of the Ring lauch tomorrow, so might end up with some of that. But might still pick up the High Elves army book.
