I have combined the two threads into one, no point having the Gaurd stuff seperated. Easier to discuss them as a whole then.

Some very nice stuff. The Valkyrie is just awesome, put me down for some. The command sprue looks like it should have plenty of options to it as well. I have to confess that I am not sure about the Ratlings, need to see them in person.
Thanks for the photos guys. Wish I could have made it today, would have been better than the day I have had at work.

Hmmm, not sure on the Ratlings (they look like mini fantasy ogres to me) but everything else looks spot on! Really looking forward to these plastic upgrade sprues, plenty new army concepts on the horizon!

Well done guys, you've got us loads to discuss.

I can't say enough about how good the two command squads look to be. So many options and extra bits and very characterful pieces such as torsos, heads etc.

I will be picking up at least one of each for the Militia.

Looks like I'll be parting with some cash :) Been looking forward to this, will probably pick up a couple of Cadian Command Squads, one Catachan, a couple of Sentinels to add to the horde that I have still unmade...

Can't wait :)

Great job on the photos Rictus!

I know I'm getting at least a few of the Command kits when there are released.

It's amazing how rescaling the arms and adding a few new bits and poses make those Catachans look so good. :)

Something that was mentioned in the seminar, the Catachans have not had their arms re-scaled. I took this to mean that not only had the regular troops not been recut but the command sprue figures match them.

Really?

They still look damn cool though, and I'm sure I could incorporate a lot of the new stuff for the powers of Chaos!

Well they definately haven't re-cut the existing models, the models have merely been repackaged. I would find it odd if they did the command figures to have different sized arms to the regular troopers, to have a Catachan leader and his staff to appear weaker than those they lead doesn't seem right.

Forgot to mention Colonel Stracken and Sly Marbo are both in the book.

what else to say? well really looking forward to the May WD mmmmmmmm!! and while I'm at it thanks to the WD guys who we were speaking with for quite some time.

there is just so much on those 2 command sprues

Cadian: all the special weapons including a snipler rifle in the aim, with a cloak.

it some of the small detail that is so neat. there are 5 respirators in there, 2 standards (with separate cords to mix an match)
Augmetic arm with power sword.
powerfist

the only thing I dont like is the heavy flamer which i think is a bit clunky but that is a minor thing on a sprue that you can do SO much with.

Catachan

there are similarities of course, the special weapons but in addition the pose of the sniper rifle just says 'come on then' the vox is the cadian pattern but in a rucksack

the medic bits! he's giving someone an injection!

and the heads! we have a a Beret! yayyyyyyyy!!!!! and there is a hat like the one worn by Lt Gorman (pendero jerk off) in Aliens....'How many combat drops?'

The combinations between the 2 sprues and the existing Cadian and Catachan ( pronounced catakans officialy, we were told... there you go news to me too) are phenominal and some of the pictures give a clue to this. add to that 6? head options in the valkyrie (that model is great).

Of all the stuff we saw i can honestly say that there isnt a single 'Meh' figure and I look forward to the next 18 months and what is still to come. The advisors astropath (left and side on one of the pics) the navy officer (my favourite i think) and the arty guy are really nice. Even the ratlings (who look either based on Hugh Jackman or as Robin Cruddace sugested Les Dawson) are fine models but I still wont have the runty mutie abherations in MY guard army.

So in all a good day. Very friendly staff from the juniors to the seniors and I am So looking forward to May. She who must be obeyed is gently weeping in the background at the thought of my forthcoming expenditure and my locking myself away in the study.

Wow. This new stuff is amazing!

Fingers crossed for a Vostroyan special character but I really doubt it.

I will definately be picking up the new commissar lord and psykers. Ratlings too. And an artillery spotter? C'mon, that's what my regiment lives for!

The 11th Vostroyan marches again come May.

I must say, I really like those Catachan banners. It actually looks to me as though GW have invested a little common sense into their toy soldiers, and its about bloody time! I can see those particular flags going on many a rough rider. . . Excitment!
