I like seeing proper armies rather than just studio figures as more thought has gone into them as figures (even if the paint schemes aren't as good). It's why I went back at the weekend to the recent Apocalypse WD with the full page spreads of Apoc armies. That's way more interesting to me than the millionth time I've seen Commisar #3 in the same scheme.

Well actually, the squadron rule is total pants!!!! Just ruined my day that has. :(

Looks like I'll only ever be fielding tanks in Apocalypse then.
..why? Single tanks will not be affected by squadron rules, hence won't suffer, they only become 'weaker' once you start using them to gain the fire power advantage.

Its 6 inch coherency for vehicles though, isn't it? oh well, my russes work in pairs, bar the vanquisher, which runs off with the Stormtroopers in chimeras.

theoretically you can take 3 russes as independent vehicles, with each occupying a Hvy support slot. However, I think it depends what you want to do with your attack. A single 3 tank assault, screening a mechanised drive onto a objective with arty pooring in, is probably worth the loss of one or more through immobilisation. in the end if all you have is 1 out of the 3 left gruntcrunching over your opponents position its stilll the same as having been bloody lucky under the previous rule. It actually in a way makes some sense in that moving as a team your room to move is limited and you are going to have to take the hits.

Tepok, I agree using them individually is fine (for 3 slots!) but using the codex to field an armoured company means your theoretical nine tanks can only shoot at three targets per turn. All nine in return can be fired at. That's my grievance, not the fact they have to move together. I usually do that anyway for mutual support.

Stupid question time.
A command squad is 50pts (Officer and his squad)
Creed is 90pts

Is it 90pts to ADD Creed (50+90=140pts for the squad)
Or does he replace the whole thing (90pts for Creed and Command Squad).

I reckon the first but just wanted to check what you guys think.

creed is an upgrade, so 140pts

Cheers, suspected that was the case, just thought it could be mis read and didn't want to get it wrong.

Right I can't be bothered reading through all this thread from where I last was (page 23 or something) so sorry if this has been mentioned.

But I flicked through the new 'dex today for the first time and was surprised by the lack of hobby pages. There was no "how to paint a guardsman" kind of thing, very little on other regiments, even ones mentioned in the old one. Was dissapointed at the overall lack of colour pages in it, maybe I am used to the marine one, but it seemed very black and white.

Doctrines. Aren't. Fumbly.

And they were optional. It wasn't like they were foced on every player at bayonet point.

Dave out.

Storm trooper task force, can I have a HELL YEAH?

It's hard to say which codex I liked better, personally. Although I'm liking this one a fair bit.

And as for the hobby section complaint, my personal slant on it would be "who needs it?". After all, the guard are one of those armies (as particularly demonstrated here at the ammobunker) that encourage imagination and individuality (at least most of the time :P ) Just my 2 cents on that issue

I miss being able to do drop troops. Ah well mass infantry death instead. Or I figure how to use IA rules for them as well.

I too miss the Drop troop list i used to run, but move with the times gentlemen, there are some pretty heinous builds you can do with the new dex, and still have an individual flair to make the list your own.

didn't realise squadrons have to fire at the same target, thats pants, tho am I right if the first shot destroys that target, the next shot can be retargetted? thats more realistic
