I remember reading that valks and vendettas come in squadrons, not sure where I got that from but it did make a bit of sense for platoon-oriented armies.

Yes, Valkyries and Vendettas come in squadrons of 1-3 per Fast Attack slot. They are each separate Fast Attack choices however, i.e. you can't mix Valks and Vends in the same squadron.

bram kuijpers

what about the leman russ, is it still one per slot?
i heard rumours that you could field 3 for 1 hs slot.
cadian lord

i heard it was 3 for one slot. if they do tack one solt do they have to stay together or can they go off on there own.

You can field 1-3 of any of the Leman Russ variants in any combination per Heavy Support slot. They must be fielded in a squadron, they don't go off on their own. If you want to do that you have to buy them one per slot.

There's nothing in the Codex to field Catachans as they were before with a 6+ save... they have a 5+ save now, congratulations. ;) You can take Gunnery Sergeant Harker in one Veteran squad which turns them into Catachan Devils (gain Infiltrate, Stealth and Move Through Cover) but that's as far as it goes for "Catachan units" in the new Codex.

Valkyries are a squadron? A SQUADRON!? Screw that. I'll not be buying the new Codex Guard, thank you muchly. Just you wait, a year from now when I'm atop my throne of 4th Ed. codices and Imperial Armour books Games Development will come crawling to me admiting their mistakes.

Dave out.

i thought planes flew in squadrons anyway, Dave. besides, if you want them to go in different directions, just have 2 squadrons. to be honest, they just sound like heavy landspeeders, but with transport capacity and worse accuracy

Planes operate in squadrons, yeah, but they don't stick within 50 feet of each other at all times. . .

It would work exactly like vehicle squadrons in the rulebook, which is 4" not 2".

yea squadrons of 1-3 and they can fire both ordance and ALL HBs. Most ppl wont realise the boost ogryns got though, I looked at the old entry and realised that
- ripperguns have +1 strength and now fire 3 shots (thats walkin HBs)
-+1 toughness
-+1 attack
- -1 initiative and strength (the wepons dont give that +1 strength anymore) but they have furious charge.
- now they have stubborn

However all this comes at 40 points so you can get 10 conscripts and with 10 more points an infantry squad.

hydras ignore cover for skimmers now? So the line between skimmers and flyers gets even more blurred...

because skimmers cant hide behind stuff? *cries*

least for 5 points tau skimmers still get their save...

Where are people buying advance copies of the codex from? Someone posted earlier that he had received a copy already. Yes, I'm bloody impatient, give it to me now! :D

Got my first look at the new book today. Some nice stuff, but nothing world ending to my mind. Got it on advance order through another store, can justify £11 for a codex I wont use much, not £15! thought the Valkyrie looked good, though they had made a bit of a hash of the local store one. Still got my FW one in a box, was told it was the 27th they sold, pain to put together I found. Got a huge boxload of guardsmen waiting to be built, but a shrewd marketing ploy on splitting the size of the box of guardsmen down, regardless of your view on why.
This is the post I was referring to. Mortare, where did you get the book from already?

from reading it, it looks like he doesnt have it already, but will get it as soon as its out, or just before. advance ordering it just means that you dont get disappointed if your local GW has sold out before you get there

Go post in someone's topic that you normally wouldn't
Or you did an advance order from an online retailer. I don't see any benefit buying stuff through the shops these days.

Holland eh... not that far of a drive... now to find your address and something big to clobber you over the head with. :D

Or you could just divulge where you got an advance copy from! Cheaper in gas for me and easier on your head for you. :P

Bram if its an electronic download version, please do not put that up on the public forum, or where you got it please as its illegal and we don't want anyone on the forum getting into trouble at all.

If you wish to say where you obtained it, please do so via PM only.

Thanks
