To be honest, I won't be getting anything for the Guard until everything has been released for them. So then I have a good choice of stuff, and gives me chance to get my other armies done before I start a new one! DK |

i'll be buying up a couple of boxes of 20 cadians for £18 (or £16 from indies) as i've heard GW will be splitting them down in to the new 10 for £12 standard which will raise the cost considerably

New battleforces are up on GW website. As suspected the new one is 2 infantry squads, a command squad, 3 x heavy weapon teams and a sentinel... Catachan one is the same... |

but more importantly the price has risen! does this mean all future battleforces will be £55 or will the be raising the price on all of the current ones as well? more importantly the £40 starter boxes are also going up to £50 and i'm thinking that all rule books will be going up to £35 as well. more price hikes from a company claiming to be doing swimmingly (also no pay rises either). |

Having seen all of the new guard stuff (for now :P), I can say it does all look fantastic in person, the detail is really nice and crisp, and the ratlings are awesome, and the paintjobs too ![]() -voiceofthewarp |

me to, that means the cost is going up by £3 per 10 models (or the cost of the box of 20 (£18) is going up by £6, now that's a price hike (and with no real reason other than profit)) got one box on the way and i'll be getting another 2 before they do the change, i figure 60 guardsmen is enough to be getting on with for the moment |

i think i'll have to break the promise i made myself about not buying anything this year, but only if i can convince my parents to let me spend Easter money. i think that another box of 20 will do it, then a couple of those 5 for £5 guardsmen as well to cover people moved to platoon command squads etc |

Just went in to town to buy some chaos warriors for the fantsy army thing, and my store had their valkyrie display model built. and all i can say is, AWSOME It really is the coolest model i have ever seen, has sliding doors and interior detail, also the cockpit is very cool, and the flying stand works well, however the only problem is that everybody will want about 5 of them. |

just saw this on Bell of lost souls thought id share it![]() How awesome does that look 3 twinlinked lascannons possibly another on the otherside they also say there are some kits that are going to change the plastic valk into an actual vulture my 'chans are gonna get this whatever the cost Two questons aswell does any one know whether there are catachan arms in kits. A. Valkyrie door gunner kit (if not ill save heavy weapon arms) or pilots i noticed the vendetta ^above^ has cadian pilots but im not fussed. B. it looks to that the new sentinel doesnt (in a pic i saw it had a pilot with a 'chan head and with what looked like normal non-steroid 'chan arms) J5 Edited by Jonny5, 6 Apr 2009, 04:50 PM.

Check out GW's financial results before you start blaming greedy businessmen for price hikes - GW have been struggling and losing money, so they're bound to be looking at anything they can to try and stop that, not that it makes it any easier to swallow though. "Swimmingly well" isn't how its described by their chairman by a long way.

Not sure what to say about that one... Looks pretty cool but there's a bit of an overkill factor IMO |

the last 2 fiscal reports showed strong sales and an increase in the cost of shares, this was then followed by a price hike BOTH times, when a company says they're dong well, sales are good and they're in profit why do they need to raise prices? not to mention the falling cost of lead (but will we see a price drop? no!). don't kid yourself, GW are like EVERY business, greedy and mostly out for the money and very little else. why do you think there was a massive shift in the quantity of advertising once GW became a PLC? thats right, it became a publicly licensed company and people with no interest what so ever in the hobby cashed in, they want money, nothing more. don't get me wrong, i still buy the vast majority of my models from GW (as opposed to independent retailers/stockists) as i want to support my hobby, but i'm not going to pretend that GW is a fluffy white lamb in a field of wolves and if we don't throw money at the wolves they'll eat GW all up! You heard of the Terminus Ultra Land Raider at all burnie? Every powergaming 10 year olds dream of a tank? Oh, that had to have its rear sponsons at odd angles... because the front ones were in the way... As far as GW and price hikes go, im more in this for the fun of conversions now than the gaming (except with my luverly tau) so it will be various webstores and ebay for moi! |

Lets just be careful with the chat on the price hikes. Its cool so far, just don't let it get out of hand as you never know who some members may work for etc etc ok. Even if a company is doing well, inflation is part of business, whether we like it or not. They may be doing ok, but you don't know if they have had to change supplier for certain materials, I certainly think this happened around the time of the last price rise, and so changes in supply, means changes in costs for them, and to compensate, the prices rise. Thats business I'm afraid. The Vendetta conversion kit is from FW, the pic was taken at their Open Day the other weekend. Valks can't be made into Vultures, however they have remoulded the Vulture body into a single piece so that it now uses the same plastic wings and tail section as the Valkyrie, therefore perhaps lowering the cost, and making Vultures more accesible. |

Got my first look at the new book today. Some nice stuff, but nothing world ending to my mind. Got it on advance order through another store, can justify £11 for a codex I wont use much, not £15! thought the Valkyrie looked good, though they had made a bit of a hash of the local store one. Still got my FW one in a box, was told it was the 27th they sold, pain to put together I found. Got a huge boxload of guardsmen waiting to be built, but a shrewd marketing ploy on splitting the size of the box of guardsmen down, regardless of your view on why. |

A couple of years ago GW were making a loss, and the only way to keep afloat was to bring in 'investors'. The problem now is when profits roll in, the investors want to see returns on their capital. As much as we hate seeing certain changes, don't forget the herachy are all still hobbyists, and try to balance whats right for both the investors and 'Us'. I think the only two mistakes GW have made in recent years was scrapping the parts department and that damn awful website what won't load. |
