The pedant and sarcastic git in me says "if we're asking your ex-wife about how hard it is to stop a 26 stone stripper, doesn't that make YOU the 26 stone stripper". The sensible part of me says "fiendil, shut up now". *grin* On topic, I has the new Codex and 1 Valkyrie on advance order as of yesterday. I fully intend to buy 2 more Valkyries before I'm done, but not until I've actually got some of the 300 IG infantry and 20+ AFVs I already own out of storage and onto a battlefield somewhere... |

Ooh, one point I did note in the GW accounts for the 6 months to December 2008 (yeah, I'm an accountant, I read them!) - Forgeworld Sales up 27% - GW like this very much - maybe they'll get the hints about the more experienced end of the market? |

I dont know if any of you have read the codex yet, but I read it at our LHS. The book was very nice and I quite like the new rules. The list is versatile (vets as troops and the different officer types etc.) but it is also simpler, and after 6 years they actually kick [arse]. A special note should go to the new hellhound variants. poisoned attacks 2+ and ap1 on a template weapon here I come! The only stupid thing INHO was the new armoured sentinel. What kind of a sentinel has FA 12? |

one with a big thick armour plate stapped to the front would seem the obvious answer! Unless you are going up against an IG army, fairplay say I, and time to get a couple more sentinel to support any assaulting troops, also sounds rather cool for COD ambushes |

The kind I'd quite like to have in my army? Seriously though, this Codex is looking pretty good. can't wait to re organize my guard army, should be up to 5000pts by then (although that includes 3 superheavies). |

On the argument of versatility with the IG now doctrines are gone, well perhaps to compensate for that, thats why there is way more units in the Codex. I mean with the silly amounts of Russ variants available, AC armies are gonna be very varied now etc etc. And Sharpshooters was a silly rule anyway, IG can't shoot, never could, never will, hence the need to take a million of them at a time ![]() Oh did you notice there appears to be no Heavy Bolter in the weapons that come with the new Sentinal kit? Have to admit, appart from the command set and the Valkyries (which can wait now) , I'm not TOO excited about the releases. The codex may change my mind yet I suppose..... |

codex is nice, had a little read and i'm very psyked ((;) )looking forward to re-kindling my love of guard (and the SoBs they'll be allied with) also assembled the new cadian Command squad which is very nice to work with and the extra parts integrate well in to other units, the sentinel weapons options are also nice as well as the few other new touches. and the valkyrie is of course a master piece. ![]() I think we both know thats not true. However, I'll still mourn the loss of doctrines and I really don't think skimming valkyries and pointlessly over the top tank varients are any compansation for it. Dave out. |

i had liked the look of sharpshooters, because it fitted with my background that my men were trained for a time by a scout from my marines, and at times this training showed through |
