Agreed, I've tried a couple of times... I'd say it also comes from having the "real article" - the original resin model which cost more and took a bit more effort as well. That and some people just like to stand out. But I'm still loving the fact that it's all becoming more available

We were thinking about this last year, why can't be ordered from shops, with cash. Even if the most popular GW shops stocked smallish kits (i.e. Dreadnoughts) and shoulder pads, upgrade kits and the like, but only the most popular kits, then FW sales would be improved greatly aswell. So I agree with you. |

Just to clarify people!! 1. Yes the new kit is awesome. 2. I think that it is a good thing that GW are bringing awesome new stuff out. 3. However if you'd spent the last X many years on FW stuff to create an original and unique force, like for example Captain Brown's air cav, wouldn't you be a bit [tinkled] off about the release? Hope this helps to clear up MY opinion before I get flamed by everyone again. LD Edited by lavadude360, 19 Feb 2009, 10:26 AM.

No I don't think it would [tinkle] you off, because if you think about it the people who have such models already didn't have a choice where they got them. And so obviously they were happy to get the FW one for the unique model, not necesarily because its from FW, but because its the only place to get it. So now they have the option to get a model thats just as detailed, but cheaper and more easily accesible. So no I think people will be happy, not pissed off. |

We're not pissed off because the Valkyrie comes out in plastic. Not at all! (Well I'm not at least!) The only thing I see as bad is that the Valkyrie is becoming a skimmer... Also the amount of Air Cavalry armies will raise to the roof in an instant... That's also one thing that I'm a little "sad" at. People shall play what they want it isn't about that, I just enjoy playing a different army that few others play sometimes! And that's about it =) Edit: Another thing that I feel about the new codex... If we see where things have gone with the newest codexes (Space Marines, Orks) they've become very popular and sadly enough, many players have started to play these armies just because they can win with them (True as I know one or two that have done just that!) I fear that if Imperial Guard goes the same way, many will start play them just because they're good and I will go to a tournament and people will say to me: "Ahh so you're playing Imperial guard aswell. Damn did you also start with the new codex?" "No thank you I've played imperial guard for 7 years now since the 3rd edition thank you." But well, let's see how it all turns out! I don't think marines are an auto-win army even with all the cool new stuff (they don't seem to be sweeping tournaments like orks from what I've heard). I'm hoping for lots of cool new stuff for guard too, and it looks like GW is going to deliver. On the flying debate: eldar skimmers are frequently described as being able to fly, tau are not. Realistically, if they have antigrav they can fly as high as they like and go as fast as they are aerodynamically capable of, becasue if the antigravity force will support their weight it will do so regardless of altitude (they're not ground-effect vehicles like our hovercraft), but GW is free to ignore physics and limit them to hovering a few feet above the ground. I think this has more to do with game balance than anything else, as with the Valkyrie. |

Valkyries have gained armour 12? Madness! Madness I say!!! Though this does make more survivey in its guise as a skimmer. Hellguns are Ap 3. Exterminator cannons are heavy 4 and appear to be rending (or have some other funky rule). The Devildog appears to have the most useless weapon ever. Fusion cannons are blast? There is a an Ap 2 sniper pistol. This is very interesting. Dave out. Edited by highmarshaldave, 19 Feb 2009, 03:01 PM.
