Hello everyone, im new here and very proud to say this is the only online thing im a member of (on Digits recommendation).

I have a problem. I have a pretty good collection of orks but a very good friend of mine and someone i regularly battle against has an awesome collection of eldar and tends to field nasty lists with things like a maxed out seer council, LOADS of tanks etc. I struggle to beat him generally with my relatively shallow knowledge of the game.

Does anyone have any suggestions with ork army lists which i might use to turn the tables somewhat? Id love to be able to come up with a couple of lists, one for beating the damn seer council and the walkery things and one for popping lots of the grav tanks. Im not looking for people to do my leg work just some starters for ten!

Well a Stompa Gargant is on its way, that should wipe the smile off his lanky xenos face.

The other thing everyone is theoryhammering about right now is the proposed Battlewagon Rush. Three Battlewagons containing a Warboss, Tons of tooled up Nobz and a healthy smattering of boyz.

I can't say that any player would like 50+ CC attacks driving into his army backed up by three Ork super transports.

Yeh ive already put a down payment on the stompa thingy at local GW shop. Trouble is my mate already has an eldar revenant titan to pop it with!

Battlewagon rush is a great idea. I suppose 3 next to each other and its harder to get to the side armour too.

There are a few of us in our little circle of occasional gamers and all we do before each round of games is discuss any possible way of beating him... sad i know!

'Assigns to memory bank and future purchase ledger: Another stompa and more battlewagons.'

cheers

the revenant is £160 from FW, look on Ebay or a site offering GW products at discount (see the supplier thread) I have ordered a stompa from miniaturesbypost.com for £48 delivered. Buy 3 stompas. Wipe smile from face.

If they keep playing uber armies that don't make any fun for you to get wiped out playing against....don't play them and look for alternative opponents.

I don't game regularly, when I do I try to have fun. No fun And I don't go back.

On a tactic point of view, take a load of bikes + WAZZADAKKA, use them to harras your opponents armour/walkers, NO CLOSE COMBAT just move fast and shoot vehicles/elite troops. While doing this move all your boyz into combat under a kustomforcefield umbrella made by 2 big meks (you can then have 2 deffdreads as troops to provide mobile fire platforms/contest objectives).

I'd use sluggas over shootas, run don't shoot, if you average out 2 turns of shooting you'll have enough boyz left from the 120 you have to pack in some 3 attack hurt on the fragile pointy ears in combat.

now kill the pointy eared big-gay-space-elves!

I've played against Eldar a few times and I have to say the most effective weapons against them are artillery!!!!

Loads of arty and they fall appart. Pinning them is my favourite, because then you get to hit them all over again!

Arty is indiscriminate so taking out seer councils is childsplay.

I have only ever won a game in one round ONCE. That was against eldar and my guard used thuddguns on them. What wasn't destroyed was pinned.

a battlewagon or two full of lootas w/killkannon on top will ruin some skimmer day

Some good advice, i like the idea about using bikes to distract him whilst the boys close in. Also, if he takes enough anti personnel to hit the boyz he wont be able to take the dreads so easily....

Arty, im guessing boomguns and killkannons are the way forward with that. Ive got a couple of looted wagons and they fit in well with a lootas army. Also a SAG!

Likewise the lootas in a battlewagon - im guessing they can use the fire points to shoot out of at full effect? Its all about numbers of shots at skimmers after all!

Thanks for the advice, its a great starting point and i didnt really have any idea previous to this posting.
