OK so, not satisfied with the idea of having multiple logs im gonna combine everything into one. As my templars have been shelved in favor of the to hard to resist 5th ed marine dex and some commision work that has fallen into my lap I have ALOT of work ahead of me. So, first off lets get to the outline.

Marines
- working towards 2000+ points. Ive have exactly 1k points assembled and ready for paint. Still trying to think of chapter and scheme but I may have found it!

Black legion (his army)
-His army is almost complete. I will be documenting the assembly of 40 CSM with two rhinos (w/ FW doors), and a Chaos terminator lord. All of this interspersed with the cleaning, assembly, chaosification and subsequent painting of a custom Warhound titan.

And finally for the nostalgic gamer in me ill be throwing together two Flames of War british armies. The first being a Churchill Tank squadron supported by a rifle company, and the second (using most of the models from the first list) will be a straight up brit rifle company.

I paint when i can (and when my 1 year old lets me) and im in no real rush so im not too concerned with quality. My goal is to shoot for a slightly better than table top scheme. SO without more babbling one to the pictures

First off two of my WIP Salamanders. A Captain and Marine. I may use the captain as a squad sergeant (i seem to have an abundance of "captain" models".
Posted Image

Next is my Chaos lord, almost done except the base. as you can see im going for a purple glow on my power weapons instead of the blue most people use. I have since sold this guy and moved on to nids as I just couldnt get into the chaos codex.
Posted Image

And for now ill leave you with my WIP FOW Britains

My Churchill- i need to hit it with some matte sealer and get some decals.
Posted Image

And my far from finished Rifle platoon
Posted Image

Keep me motivated people! I tend to do some work and not post pictures so i may need a friendly reminderMy next round of pictures should have some shots of the titan!

Yay! More FoW! Superb! Get them painted quick smart!

Marines and Chaos lord look very nice. Aside from the lack of basing, I have no complaints.

Dave out.

thnx. for the salamanders im attributing the purple to the combination of the radiation of Nocturne and the artisanship of the salamanders and for the chaos im using the "infused with warp energy/archaic construction" fail safe.

stay tuned

Ok, heres some new updates. Didnt get any pics of the titan in progress as its out in my shed right now and it was pretty rainy last night, plus i got caught up in painting so those will have to wait. so onto the pictures

Heres my two chaplains for the salamanders. I had these guys pretty much done in a templar scheme so i just strategically painted some green on to finish them up and make them salies.

Posted Image

And heres some more of my british rifle platoon. the stand with the bushes was previously finished and i just need to add bushes to the remaining two and grass to all three

Independant teams w. HQ
Posted Image

and just the two i painted last night

Due to the holiday (and no internet at my home) my next update wont be till monday so stay tuned, i hope to have quite a bit more done!

OK after a busy holiday season its back to the grind. As promised ive got loads of pictures (to show ive at least done SOMETHING) I tend to do a little work on something and then move on to another project, rarely will I finish a project straight through. It keeps things interesting so what i have for this update is a bunch of WIPS.

First some of my salamanders

My WIP Captain in Terminator armor. Hes been salvaged from my templars into a new life of fire and promethium
Posted Image

Brother Mannik
Posted Image

Somthing i figured I could use as an Objective marker. A clutch of "Salamander/Fire Drake" eggs
Posted Image

Heres some of the Chaos im assembling for a buddy of mine. The only part of the army that I will be painting is the titan.

Chaos Lord
Posted Image

Chaos squad with Rhino sporting FW black legion doors
Posted Image

Big Daddy. A major part of this log will be the assembly, chaosification and painting of this custom warhound
Posted Image

And Lastly my FOW.

Heres some of my WIP Churchills. The two on the outside are Churchill VI's, the unprimed one is a Churchill VII and the primed one in the center is a Churchill IV. The differences are subtle but in game terms theres a huge armor difference between the VII's and the rest.
Posted Image

Heres a side shot of the WIP Churchill VI
Posted Image

And finally another stand of rifle infantry.
Posted Image

Heres my Rifle Company HQ. They came with a mortar option but i doubt ill use em much.
Posted Image

for my FOW i still need to add bushes, grass and hit them with matte sealer. So far I only have 600 pts of british which is enough for small games but its getting bigger.

For my sally's ive got about 1500 pts worth. 3 tactical squads, 2 assault squads, 2 assault terminator squads, 3 HQ options and the dreadnaught.

Im hoping to have a painting session this week with the guy that got me into FOW so i should have some more updates by then.

Stay tuned!

Very nice looking armour there. I've always been a fan of the Churchil Tanks. They are the perfect image of an Infantry Tank.
Where'd you pick that Warhound up from? It certainly ain't the FW kit... PM me ;)

The winds of change have once again gripped my ADD. Thankfully not in the middle of a large amy build (which tends to be the case). In this case I revist my old tyranid army. I scrounged around in my bits box to see what i could find and lo and behold I found 2 spore mines, some rippers and enough parts to kitbash a tyranid warrior (however i dont intend to use him in his current configuration, hes just a test mini). So then my dilemma was to come up with a paint scheme. My previous excursion with nids was rather tedious and time consuming as my paint scheme was pretty involved. Hive Minion can attest to that ;)

As all horde army players know painting all those troops can get really boring really quickly. My intention was to find a super quick, super easy scheme that gave me a colored army on the table in very little time. I also wanted to stay away from dipping (messy, too thick and takes too long to dry)so, enter the GW washes. I really wanted to push the limit on just how easy i could make a paint scheme without it looking sub par. After testing different combinations on different pieces I finally settled on a suitable scheme that fits all my criteria. Keep in mind the following pictures show my final scheme in a test phase. I dont plan on winning any awards and its doubtful they will ever even be in any sort of competition (even on the local level) but i think the end result combined with the ease of implementation and fast turn over time come together really well

The models were primed white and then the armor and claws were base coated in space wolf grey. The chittin was then washed with gryphonne sepia and then the armor and claws washed with badab black. All these took me less than an hour and half from start to finish.

Again these were test minis so they arent as "clean" as the final minis will be. Also with the larger gribblies (carnifex, tyrant etc) i will go in and pick out the teeth

Well... what do you guys think?

Good quick scheme that works well. Not seen that colour combo on nids before, and it works well. I think you could get away with picking out the teeth on most of them, and that little detail would just make them that bit better.

An army would look good though. What sort of bases would you put them on, any ideas? I think the grey on them would clash too much with an urban theme, so maybe a greenish base scheme?

Im thinking of doing a typical dirt and grass base. they are easy and quick and wont clash with the figures. Im excited to get an army like this as I think it will look pretty s[Clean up afterwards please]

If I could afford a tyranid army - that would be the way I would do it. A very nice scheme there. I'm particularly impressed with the fact the chitin is just white base washed. Did you fill in the bits the undercoated missed by hand or did you just let the washes cover the gaps?

i just tried to get as thorough a coating of primer as i could, if anything wasnt as "white" as the rest of the model it would be in a recess or something like that and the wash takes care of those easily. I really cant wait till my fex gets here (hopefully tomorrow) It will be the first of the "actual game standard minis" as well as the test to see how long a Big'un takes. im guessing no more than an hour start to finish which to me is phenomenal as it takes me 45 minutes to paint a salamander marine.

stay tuned
