The year is 1944 and war rages throughout the world. On the western front the allied forces get foothold on the beaches of Normandy while paratroopers and gliderborn formations strike deep into the enemy lines, the liberation of France has begun. On the eastern front the Russians turn the war to their favor after the battles at Stalingrad, the Germans are slowly pushed back to their fatherland with the Soviet hunting them. Things are looking dim for Hitler and his generals, but new aces have risen throughout the ranks and the german soldiers are hardened, experienced warriors from many battles, but will they be able to turn the war again and throw the allied forces back into the sea? The allies on the western front, americans, canadians and soldiers from the British empire are sure on their cause to overthrow a terrible tyrant and liberate the people of Europe, but the germans won't give up easy so will alone won't be enough... This is a time of blooshed, tragedy and heorism. Some commanders and soldiers will vanish and be forgotten in the war while others will stand above their peers and lead their soldiers to victory. This is the story of a couple of them... Hello there Ammobunker! This is the start of a new log with work collected from a couple of gamers (5 as I write this) living in the same town that one day decided to start playing Flames of War. We're going to collect our forces and play our games centred around the western front from the landings at the beaches of normandy and forwards. The ones involved in the project (so far) is the following: Heathgrove - Britsh Cassora - American Neth Oni - Germans Svenson - British My brother - Germans (Will add his username when he makes one...) Well... So far most of us only got a platoon and the rules, they will be painted beside our main projects but as we are 5 to update this log, there might be some updates from time to time! But well... I'll let everyone describe their own armies and how much time they're going to lay down on them. Let liberation of Europe begin! |

Alright I'll start updating this log by adding some info on my 'British' force. The Cameronians - 2nd Batallion The Cameronians is a Scottish Rifle Regiment with a long and honourable history with over 300 years on their shoulders. The 2nd Batallion fought in France early in the war, taking part in the heaviest of fightings before being extracted from Dunkirk. They then served in Sicily and Italy before being reinforced with new soldiers and shipped out to Europe. Now they are a mix of old veterans who've seen everything the war can offer and new recruits with little experience. They're going to be a British Infantry Regiment... Some artillery and some tanks! Just a regular infantry army really. But well... I've also painted my first models so let's get on with the pictures! ![]() My first section, finished it during the morning! It's a great, fun change to paint these little (literally!) fellas as a break from the bigger 28mm Games Workshop models. ![]() And another picture. ![]() And another section with an unfinished base. When this one's finished I got a whole squad, yay! ![]() I also couldn't resist the temptation so I bought some bren carriers aswell, I just love them! Going to use mine as recon elements to my riflemen, but I wanted to give it some mover love then just paint so I converted a simple, field modification roof to protect the crew and equipment from rain, aswell as serving as camoflauge from flyers. That's it for now... More to come later! |

hi folks, time for some krauts here then ![]() I choose to play as an mechanised, elite infantry company and I will thus be playing Waffen SS from the intel handbook Cobra. "Veterans among veterans, they were quickly dispositioned to Normandy at the outbreak of Operation Overlord. When the british and canadian forces began their drive inland their progress was stalled time and again from the stubborn soldiers of the 2nd Waffen SS division. But that wasn't all, as the german forces in the area intended to switch to counter offensive..." That's all I have atm on these boys. (and please don't misunderstand my intentions of fielding Waffen SS in this game. I don't support their brutal actions of the actual war) I too have started painting my forces, althoug I'm nowhere near Heathgroves standard on his brits. They aren't entirely finnished and their base is barely started but I felt I had to tg along with my enemy here ( can't give the brits too much of a headstart can we? )

Hey, I recently did some FoW Germans as well (Early/ Mid War) and some British Paras. Lovely minis and your Tommies look ace! Unfortunately Battlefront's latest sculpts are not so impressive (Sturmkompanie!!), which keeps me from buying more Germans. Will follow this closely. Cheers CC |

Interetsing log this. Made a half hearted attempt at starting flames of war earlier this year, but a total lack of opponents foiled me. I'll be watching this closely. |

Thanks folks for your kind words and showing interest, we'll try not to let you down! cassora: I'll send you an email how to make the bases aswell as some other tips and your "army list" =) Anyways, haven't painted to much today but at least I am one step closer to finishing my platoon... I'm hoping that I can finish it by Friday when some of us will try out the rules for the first time! But... ![]() I finished the second part of the Tommie section, this one with a lovely brengun! ![]() And from another view. ![]() Here's the two teams together forming my first, finished section of Riflemen ready to kick some Hun arse! (Just noticed that the two running minis are standing next to eachothers so it looks kinda funny, hehe ^^) ![]() I've started painting on the support teams of my platoon, consisting of a PIAT team and a light mortar team. They will probably be finished later today, except the bases. Well that's it for now. Hope you enjoy it because there's plenty more where that came from! |
