so everyone is supposed to learn something new every day.

Today i learned why brake fluid strips paint of models!
its to do with brake fluid being hydroscopic, meaning that it absorbs water. this means that it absorbs the water out of the water based paints, leaving flakes of colour, which come off easily when rubbed.

last week i learned that when your computer goes pop and turns off, it means that your internal power unit is busticated and you need a new one. the new one i now have is miles quieter than the one PC world originally supplied me with, meaning that its either packard bell like noise, or its been faulty since i got it.

so, people. tell us what you learned today!

what about non water based paints such as enamels? It strips those too. And primer, which isnt waterbased. And acrylic paint is actually an acrylic resin base, once the water has left the paint a reaction occurs, meaning that you cant wash the paint off with water. Therefore the paint is no longer water based, but in fact alcohol based (you can thin acrylics with thinning alcohol)

And as far as your old PSU goes, it would have been a crap cheap one that pc world threw in to knock the profit margin up. Never ever use the one your case is supplied with if building your own.

And i learnt that a combination of burnt umber and black oil paints with Industrial Dirt MIG pigment makes a fantastic all in one wash/weather. I also learnt that the Raleigh House accomodation for nottingham university is situated 20 minutes walk from the University Park campus and 15 minutes walk from warhammer world :P

Well I didn't learn anything today, but yesterday I learned not to ride your mountain bike along wooden walls when the walls are wet. Otherwise you slide off very quickly and drop the 4 feet or so onto your back. And graxe both legs, and both elbows whilst doing so. Oh and bruising your pelvis and hurting your back.

So yeah thats what I learny, alas I learnt the hard way!

Dave: i was just excited to know how it worked. i didnt consider how it worked on other stuff tbh. the PSU was the one that came in the packard bell box, PC world were just selling it. im amazed that the graphics card still works. its a NVidia GeForce 7300, and it will just play fallout 3 according to the minimum specs.

forgot to mention that if you put a jelly baby in a test tube ( i think with something but cant remember what) and put a lit bunsun burner under it it screams. it lets you pretend you are part of the the witchunters, burning people :)

Richey Edwards has officially been pronounced dead this week after the family got the court to close the case of his disappearance.

New Killers album is rubbish. New Kaiser Chiefs album is rubbish. New Owen Pallett EP is AWESOME.

Hit a child at 40mph and there's an 80% chance they'll die. So hit them at 50 just to make sure. :)
