Hey everyone i'm finally starting a project log only have afew models for my planned IG force, just some tanks from my old IG that i'm bringing up to speed and including in my new army. for those of you who havn't seen my other thread in General Painting & Modelling, the force is going to be made up of a large platoon of guardsmen, some stormies, leman russ', and chimeras as well as some ragtag conscipts made of lots of different parts. i'm starting small because i'm hanging out for xmas and the new IG codex early next year but hopefully ill be able to get some things posted sooner rather than later. oh and i'll include some vehicles that "count as" sentinels based on things like the brdm or jeeps and technicals if all goes to plan. and ofcourse, this is army will have an urban theme. stay tuned

i am looking forward to seeing how you deal with the mish mash of units. it could look really good. i know what you mean about waiting for the codex, my first big project for next year is to do 2 guard armies simultaneously, i dont want to start them until i have a better idea of what i can and cant do regarding the rules. i will prob just start painting the endless tide of infantry first, hopefully the guard will still be part of the guard codex

Alright everyone ive just ordered some westwind production soviet heads so look foward to some updates sooner or later I thought i'd come up with a background for the regiment to make it abit more interesting. The 21st infantry regiment of the 2nd Kublinka IV Shock Army (i've named them) hail from the Eastern Fringe and are hated enemies of the Tau (my regular opponent collects Tau). Due to the Russian/Soviet influence there are a high proportion of commissars within the units and include a large amount of veterans from previous conflict with the tau and other enemies. These veterans are complimented by fresh conscripts that are always in steady supply to reinforce those units depleted by the often bloody style of combat practiced by the Kublinka regiments and high casualties inflicted by tau weaponary. As a shock army, the 2nd are employed to counter attack the enemy and exploit breakthrough's. Since the tau are rarely caught on the defensive and prefer to attack wherever possible, it is usually the counter attack and subsequent consolidation of ground the 2nd undertakes. The 2nd Shock Army differs from other Imperial Guard units as a disproportionate amount of heavy armour is attached to infantry platoons. This is usually the standard leman russ. Vanquisher patterns are also common amongst the armoured units, although not attached to infantry squads. This combined arms approach allows the infantry to advance undercover of the tanks and get up close, thus negating the tau's ranged advantage and maximising the Kublinkan veteran skills in short range fighting (represented by the harderened fighters doctrine). |

Looking very nice Daz. If there's anything some people on this board have shown, it's that cadians can be posed all sorts of ways so don't be discouraged ![]() I like the more unarmoured look of the officer/NCO. Yeah, it's not really functional, but I like how it sets him apart ![]() Otherwise, get yourself a photobucket, set your camera to "macro" (I think it's called, the flower thingy) and give us some close-ups!

it does look like you have a bit of droopage on the barrel end (ohh err!), not too late to use some hot water to bend it back (might need a touch up though!) |
