When I was 16, no kidding, I rolled 37 sixes in a row. The first seven were ingame till eventually the game stopped so my friends could gather round simply witness me doing the improbable. I don't know how I did it or why it happened. Also, unconnected, but I once played a game of Battleship and didn't miss once. It was weird. I reckon between those two instances I used up all the luck I could ever have for a decade or so. I still to this day have not won a single penny on the National Lottery. One of my relatives had a conversation with me that wen't like this: Me: I've never won a single penny on the lottery. Relative: Uuuuh... I know what you mean. Me: Indeed? Relative: Uuuh... Yeah. The most I have ever won is 200 quid. Me: Then you don't know what I mean do you? Cause you have won a large cash sum of money and I have won nothing EVER. Relative: duuuuuh All my relatives are stupid and the minute I use a sentence that has say, punctuation in it, they retreat in fear uttering 'Witchcraft'. And don't tell me that the solution is to not play the lottery. Probability says I have to win something eventually. Oh, also, nice articles. I will keep checking back on this. |

So as well as telling us mortals how to play, you're now into product placement as well Darkseer...? Nice article though! |

Woah mate, bit of a heavy handed reply. I wasn't criticizing you for where you buy your models. It's just an observation, and one with tongue in cheek I might add, that it looks mightily like product placement. Not something I'd expect from an article of that type, that's all. |

Sorry Grizz, I've had loads of emails via the blog from people telling me I'd sold out and all sorts (all from posting 1 relevant link?) I didn't mean to bite your head off. While I was writing the conclusion for the entry I contemplated buying the army, had a look online for the best prices and Wayland Games came up trumps for cheapness. I was so excited I bashed it into the end of my article, then went and bought the army with my Christmas bonus. Edited by darkseer, 28 Nov 2008, 05:55 PM.

Not to worry mate, I didn't take offence. It's the web, and it's in written form, things can easily be taken out of context, so think nothing of it. As an aside though, that link, not to mention the article itself, did get me thinking on how cool it would be to have an army composed entirely of Terminators. Definatly something I'm considering doing in the future, if only just for painting it. |

i have to say that article is rather cool, and i also use nothing but wayland games now. However the repeated references to natural rolling still (in my mind anyway) lessen the validity of the articles. (IE im taking those sentences with a pinch of salt). You say that consistently rolling above the odds on a 2+ save is easier said than done, and i still think that thats because its down to chance. But hey... I hope next weeks article is not an explanation of how to maximise chances of getting a hit on the scat dice.... |

Luckily for you it's not. That's the week after...and the week after that ![]() Next week,, I've decided to give the Natural Rolling and Practiced Rolling a more solid explanation. Then it's on to the Scatter Dice, including deep striking and blast weapons (with lots of tactics thrown in). As I always say; take what you want from my articles and leave what you don't want. There's always something for everyone. |

Great article darkseer. I'm slowly building up my deathwing army so it's good to have some pointers on what to include and how to playthem when I eventually get round to playing with them... I think I need to invest in some more shooty DW squads! |

Cheers mate. I played them at the GT, so it was a real baptism of fire, but I came out swingining with them. Wouldn't ever field them on anything more than a 1,500pts game though. Otherwise your first wave has to fend off even more stuff until the 2nd wave arrives. |

thats a fascinating concept there darkseer... little risky for my tastes (i prefer having every gun on the table at turn 1), but should i ever find myself DSing on a little unit (dreadnought for example) I shall employ that method

You should change the name of your blog to 'How to Cheat at Warhammer 40k'. I started reading your blog expecting more articles that don't actually tell you how to win at warhammer (because that is impossible), but rather provide a personal approach to in-game tactics, like many tactica articles out there on the internet. Instead your articles explain how to manipulate dice rolls and how to use this ability to win. Saying you don't condone it doesn't take away the fact you tell people how to do it, and even encourage them to do it. Of all the articles you've written so far only one centers around tactics and even that one takes dice rolling into account as an ability that can be improved. You say Natural Rolling is a subconscious ability but it is not: if you check a dice to see which number is on top before rolling that is a conscious action. Remembering how you rolled a dice that came up a 6 and mimicking that roll is a conscious action. It is also cheating. Why are you writing this blog if you don't want people to cheat with their dice rolls? The articles serve no other purpose than telling people how to do it. |

Hi HIveMinion, While I could have written the same old tacticas that everyone else writes on the internet, I thought I'd write about the tactics that the REAL tournament players employ in order to Win at Warhammer 40K. If someone is going to cheat, they do not need my blog to do it. I'm merely reporting on the tricks that are commonly employed. - Edited at Digit's request. Edited by darkseer, 15 Dec 2008, 07:23 AM.

OK, time to cool it me thinks. There is no need for any of this to be personal on anyone's part. I have enjoyed reading this, regardless of whether I agree with it all or not. Darkseer, I'd appreciate it mate if you'd tame down the last couple of paragraphs for me. Then shake hands guys and move on. Thanks. Edit: Thanks for editing mate.
