Close Combat: CSM question; Possible to use 2 CC swords?

Evening fellas!

I'm getting ready to start my army build (will be posting on the model log forums once I get photoshop up and running), and I have a question about close combat marines (just like the title says. hehe)
To be honest, I think the answer will determine whether or not I even CSMs. I was reading through the Codex: CSM and saw there was no option to replace a bolt pistol with another close combat weapon. I don't know if a friend of mine a long time ago told me incorrectly, or if I read something wrong, but is it (now) possible for a CSM troop, noncharacter or asp. champion, to wield 2 CC weapons or is it purely bolt pistol/CC wpn?

Here is a test of a few models I did just to give an idea of what I was trying to accomplish. (please be kind, they were assembled like 2 years ago and got damaged during a move. They definately looked alot better when they were intact. haha)

Thanks for any help you can send my way.

Well.. I dont think theres an option, but they could be Khorne bezerkers as they quite nice conversions and represent the extra attack nicely.

All chaos space marines AFAIK have a boltgun, bolt pistol, AND a close combat weapon as standard, which gives them a big advantage over marines and having two close combat weapons gives no benefit at all.

The pistol option, I think, is so they dont have to give chaos marines true grit, and instead they get something better (by having the bolt pistol). And if he did carry a second close combat weapon he'd have no way to use his boltgun without having to stop.

Thanks for the reply AD! I was curious about the whole wargear thing being eith bolter or bolt pistol/CCW. I read the codex again and you're right CSMs do have all three. It would just be hard to build the model to represent both styles without some moderate conversation work.

But, reading through the rules book, I was further puzzled. P. 37 of the rule book says "(typically a close combat weapon and/or pistol in each hand)" when referring to attack #s, then on p. 42 it says,"Remember that in close combat, pistols count as normal close combat weapons and so strength and AP of the pistol are ignored." All of which I have no idea what it means. I guess I'll try to get clarification directly through GW if I need it.

Again, thanks for the reply AD! You got me thinking further into it. Argh, I just wanted to make some cool models for some gaming!

In CC pistols count as a close combat weapon giving you an extra attack as you use your pistol to beat your opponent to death :)

CSMs do have a great advantage over their loyalist counterparts with the Pistol/Boltgun/CC Weapon combo, but no doubt that will be rectified in the upcoming SM codex.

The bit about the pistols is mainly refering to chaos characters and aspiring champions who can carry plasma pistols and (IIRC) can use them in place of a normal attack in close combat.

The thing is, you don't have to use the boltgun/pistol, and the mark of khorne would make sense to me... If there characters consider it, if there a unit then a non bezerker unit, or a unit from a different legion other then the word bearers would look pretty cool
