Kayvaan Shrike- When I've finished the Trukk I'll do a tutorial on the yellow, I'll have the energy then probably. Painting this thing is starting to turn into pain...Although rejoice, it is wee wee easy to do. Angel Robertson- Thankyou very much mate. You are helping me through a difficult 'mid-point' with this thing. Metal Fingered Villain- Yeah, Bad Moonz. What gave it away, the yellow or the large black moon on the front of the Trukk. Next up I think, I'm gonna raid another Trukk kit for another lamp to go on the front, I want it to look like it has eyes! |

I'm not struggling with any particular part...I'm just suffering from doubt syndrome! (ie 'oooh, whats the point?! Waaaail! It'sgonna look crap!), it's pathetic! I'll push through. I've actually had more fun with this than anything else I've done this year and am making plans to ressurect my FW Fighta next...

Nice to see your Orks again mate, and not just any Orks, but the bestest Orks evar. Bad Moonz. Would you mind sharing how you achieved the worn/rusted metal look on the trukk thus far? It's brilliant. -scrubout |

Scrubout, Rictus, thankyou very much. For anyone who is interested I will do a tutorial on the yellow over the next few days. It is really easy to do so before long maybe tere will be more Bad Moonz around! Just working on a tiny update now. I was bought anoter Trukk by the kind hearted Faye in London today, so I have a spare lamp to make the other 'eye' on the front of the Trukk. I'll show you a picture when I'm done. edit ![]() Waaagh! Dat fings alive Boss! Jesus Christ it'd better be. Sometimes five minute jobs turn into 2 and a half hour saga's that make all your private parts drop off and shrivel into dust. Or something. Hope y'all like. Edited by The Antipope, 10 Sep 2008, 11:26 PM.

The eyes? I don't want to talk about the eyes, they took hours to sort out. It's basically white, heavily washed with Blue Ink (of the discontinued variety), then a million thin layers of Ice Blue (of the discontinued variety), followed by 5 million layers of Skull White (of the still very much continued variety). Then Dullcote takes the Ink shine off, only for the white to be coated thinly in Ardcoat... The pictures are ready to go for the tutorial and will be up tonight! I just need to write it! As for pushing through AR, I'm feeling reenergised. I think I can do this! Especially seeing as I've just seen the New FW Flak Wagon! I must have one! Schoolcormorant
Steve, I feed upon your hate. Dacone2
Cheers Dacone, I actually used your thread as reference in the early stages of this. I don't have the instructions to the kit so I had to guess alot! I now know for instance that life is easier if you glue the engine n before you glue the floor down...ce la vie! I'll know next time. I'm not touching the Warboss for a while. The conversion has evolved even from how he is on Page 1 and I'm happy to let him keep evolving till I've finished. Also Mawa, thankyou. I think your stuff is beyond fantastic so thats really nice. Right anyway, I have to get ready to go work... I'll post up the tut soetime after midnight when I get back. Ricky Edited by The Antipope, 12 Sep 2008, 02:37 PM.

So for one reason or another I didn't go to work. Which means you guys get your tutorial early! I've used an airbrush on parts of this but theres no reason you couldnt get something like by using the traditional hairy stick. Anyway, now for a big picture with explanatory text underneath. ![]() Stage 1. Iyanden Darksun. I use my airbrush to get a good even coat but it can be done with a brush. I’m just lazy. Stages 2, 3, 4 and 5. iIncreasing amounts of sunburst yellow added until finally sunburst yellow. I decide where the top/front of the part is and try and build the highlights along it. With this part though that was difficult as it’s all top Stage 6. Now its time for the hairy stick. 50/50 Dark Flesh/ Sunburst Yellow (thinned till it‘s like milk). Carefully paint into the recesses. Also use this stage to lightly mark out where you intend rust and weathering to be. Use three stages to lightly build this up rather than flooding it in one. Stage 7. Same again but with pure Dark Flesh Stage 8. Familiar stuff. Chaos black to pick out any parts that are going to be metal, in this case rivets. Stage 9. Boltgun metal to pick out the rivets and to be painted within the rust areas lightly. Stage 10. Wash the nuts and bolts with 50/50 Devlan Mud and Badab Black. Don’t wash the rust, it’d spoil the yellow… Stage 11. Go round the rust areas lightly with mithril silver and also at this point add edge highlights of mithril silver to represent wear and chipping. So you see it's easy! I call for more yellow armies! Iyanden, do not hide! Imperial Fists, come out to play! Bad Moonz, ride out in your splendid yellow gear! Any other questions, please ask. Happy times and places Ricky |

I got halfway through the kit before realising just how good it was. I mean absolutely everything fit together perfectly without any overlap or dodgy moulds. If anyone has tried to fit a chimera or rhino together they know what i mean . . . |

rhino is better than most, devilfish is a bit of a pain (large amounts of clamps and tape required) but compared to anything FW they are a breeze. Large plastic kits always are a bit of a pain though. |
