Hey,

Just started getting back into the hobby in the past month after finding a box of minis in the bottom of my wardrobe after selling off a Imperial Guard army, various Marines, Lost and the Damned and an Ogre Kingdoms army in the past year and a bit.

Boredom struck just as I found the box of minis and I decided to take the hobby up again (could have something to do with my girlfriend beggaring off to uni in York too...). I used to just collect 40k and some Mordheim, but was enthralled by the Ogres when they came out...

Somehow, I ended up buying the beginnings of a dwarf army when I got my student loan (bit silly). But I controlled myself, only bought a small amount of minis, a balanced force, I have a few heroes on the way from eBay (bloody postal strike) along with an Organ Gun and a Cannon (old style metal).

Heres what I've gotten done in the past week...

Repainted a Warlock for Mordheim:

and a Pit Fighter...

and the guy who started the Dwarf army off (I bought this guy cheap a year and a half ago, used to be a 2nd hand Wargames stall in a local market, decided to paint him for Mordheim and ended up enjoying painting it so much that I wanted a unit...then an army...woe is me!)

Finally, this lovely lady...

My current WIP area...

My work area...

My current collection of items to turn into a piece of terrain for the competition.

My meager collection of Squats.

Some Fanatics. No real reason, I've just had these for many years and never painted them, but they're brilliant fun miniatures and I enjoyed painting them!

More soon. Been working on the regimental bases for the Dwarfs, painted the Wyrd Beastmaster and the Rats today but my camera is being rather shoddy. Like brr-ing and whirring and generally not working.

Comments? :) Cheers!

I'm really liking the tidy painting and the great rusted metal effect you've achieved. The captions are cute too. Does the wider front and sides of your regiment trays affect playability?

To be honest, I'll probably cross that bridge when I come to it :)
On account of never having played a game yet!

The ones that aren't finished yet will be pretty easy to modify actually, and the one thats painted doesn't seem as drastic when I look at them now.

I think I'll get to modifying them after work tomorrow night! Thanks for your comment. Oh and yeh, I love painting rust for some reason. My Trollslayers are going to be dirty smelly drunkards that don't really care about maintaining their weapons. And there'll be no orange hair!

Sweet, a turtle! B)

Looks like you got some work ahead of you, this will be interesting! I love the Squats, and the Fantasy stuff looks great too.

Dwarfs so far...

Got these in the post yesterday (thank christ the postal strike has ended!) and sorted out some bases last night. Built some spaces for the crew members with some spare balsa wood then built the base up around the spaces with wall filler.

I also received my thane and another one of the organ gun crew (the guy with the pole and the full face mask) to turn into a Runesmith.

Posted Image

Painted this guy up last week. Digga Shaman from Gorkamorka, had been swimming in my bitzbox for years. I'd removed his gun and staff top long ago so a laspistol and a plastic skull helped turn him into a Wyrd Beastmaster, along with some giant rats courtesy of Jasevx.

Posted Image

The rest of my Watchmen gang. Thats a couple of juves using the slimmer Men-At-Arms bodies, a bolter armed ganger, a flamer armed ganger and the hardcore leader, an ex-Imperial Guard tough nut who came to the town, killed the leader and took charge. Bionic leg, bionic arm, plasma pistol, shotgun with sight and handle on the racking part, gasmask head from the metal Chaos terminators and the doublesided chainsword with a hilt from a dwarf axe. He seems a bit more bulky than the rest of the gang (which I like).

More to come...

My entry for the terrain competition...

The concept is that its the last fuel stop on the way into the Ash Wastes, built around the remains of a generator hub, which is now the home of a Oil Prospector.

The platformer parts on the big fuel tank will be a large sign advertising promethium. There will be pipes leading from the container (a nail varnish remover bottle) plus quite a few jerry cans scattered and lined up around the place. Kitty litter will be used to add lots of rubble to the place, but playability is the key here, so I want lots of places that gangers can get cover or good vantage points. I've made a removable cannon of some sort that can be placed in the lookout post. The tube on the left hand side is meant to be a broken power conduit, hence the cut cables and wiring. Another conduit goes into the side of the main building (the ex-generator). The blue stuff is the bottom of a plastic vegetable tray (rescued from the bin actually). The spaces in the main building will be patched up with wooden cocktail stirrers from StarBucks. The "ladders" are from the side of the plastic veg tray.
Conduits are from the garage, some kind of PVC plumbing tube. Wires are from a big roll we have and theres some old hosepipe thrown in for good measure.

Lots of work to do here, and my hot glue gun is awol, so nothings really stuck together.

Another pic of the cannon, its a chaos heavy bolter, two autocannon ammo drums, binoculars and a handle from Guard heavy weapon sprues. Plastic girder makes the stand and a square platformer piece makes the base.

Thoughts?:)

The Leader does look nails. Nice work there. There's nothing like a big beefy shotgun for intimidating rival gangs. Get em painted now, I'm sure he'll look even meaner!

Some great stuff there mate, you certainly like your stunties.I absolutely love those squats, are they from the original squat range or modified dwarfs?

The Squats are the ancient range, 3 metal and 1 plastic, with current weapons and arms. Some shaving of arms was needed to sort them out :)

I'm a shortarse myself so I think I have a natural affinity with Stunties and Hobbits.

Although, I have neither a beard nor hairy feet, go figure.

Cheers for your comments!

Ooo, I'm liking what's been done with your terrain comp so far.

The necro gang is cool too, haven't seen one yet using men-at-arms. Got a closer shot of the leader?

Haven't really got much done tonight, mainly been watching films and trawling the bits collection. Also worked out a Skavvy gang for the Ash Wastes, hope to give them a ramshackle truck and some mangey beasts.

First off, a clearer shot of the leader...

Posted Image

The shotgun is from the Necro weapons sprue, I'd chopped it up and had it on a Catachan many moons ago, so I had to graft it onto the butt of a laspistol and match them up, took a sight from the Marines sprue and the forward grip from the Guard heavy weapons sprue. Plasma pistol is from the Chaos juggernaut rider, head from Chaos termi, bionic leg from metal Necron, Boot from Catachan guard. I left a some of the shoulder of the Man-At-Arms that on the others had been removed, this bulked him up a little. Chainsword is just blu-taked for now.

Posted Image

The start of my next gang. Don't much like the scally models available (had 2 which I sold off along with a massive bunch of plastic zombies, kinda sucks now.) and I love the look of the ones in the Redeemer series (and I think Kal Jerico) by Wayne Reynolds. This guy is very WIP, some spare ogryn legs, a busted up Ork torso and lots of plasticard spacers. I'll be using ork hands and thats the speargun there. Thinking big, dumb looking, tough looking and pretty stupid at the same time. Used Milliput mixed with a little green stuff there to bulk him out, but ran out of green stuff (thanks to my brilliant idea of wrapping it in cling film, which it stuck to, thus I wasted an entire blister of it just about.).

Got another one of these to do, along with 14 skavvies and a skavvie leader, 5 plague zombies, 4 scavvie dogs and 3 ghouls. All from the bitz box, although I might get another blister of ghouls and some dogs of some kind. I have some plastic wolves and chaos hounds but they all seem too big. I also intend to make a "speargun empty" token, extra scattercannon to attatch to a scallys back when the time comes and some tox bomb tokens.

Phew.

Posted Image

Got this guy for £1 on eBay, brilliant characterful old model, had the end of the grabba stick chopped off so I had to bodge this together.

Posted Image

Just a look at my "Marine box". I sorted through my marine stuff about 6 months ago with the thought of selling them all, but they stopped in the box. These are to turn into an army, along with a little bag of combat scouts I have and the 7 bikes I got cheap on eBay, when I have my next operation.

Thoughts? Comments? :)

(This was supposed to get posted last night, but my laptop screwed up and died)

Hey this is all coming along nicely!! That Beastmaster looks cool as!!

Do you have a colour planned for your gangers? (sorry if I missed it if you've already said it)

Didn't realise that I haven't posted a pic of my earlier gangers...

Heres several I prepared earlier...

These were planned as more of a NPC gang, but I really like the moodyness of them. I'll get these and the 8 or so hired guns I've got half-painted done in the next week before I properly start my Scavs. I'm going to the model shop in an ihour whle the missus gets her hair dyed, and then on to some £1 stores to search for cheap-[arse] vehicles to loot.

Fun day :)

My kind of shopping

Didn't get much whilst shopping, apart from 4 pots of GW paint, some green stuff, superglue, pin vice bits (I can get back to pinning, woop!), some textured plasticard (for basing) and some boxes for storing screws with plastic dividers that I'm using to seperate bits.

Somehow, that all set me back £24. Grr.

Managed to resist adding anything to my painting schedule though, so thats a plus!

Sorted some things into the boxes and got making some scavvys. It's going to be a mix of diggas from Gorkamorka, a couple of metal scavvys and assorted plastics. Hopefully the painting will unify them.

Posted Image

I've added clubs to all of them (being free for scavvys). Shotguns/Kannons count as scatterguns seeing how Scavvys can't get shotguns! Clubs come from all sorts, metal poles left over, axes, hammers from Mordheim, the chopped down pitchfork from the fantasy Zombies.

Also sorted out my zombie pieces that somehow escaped one of the eBay purges (the Redemption must have been in town).

Posted Image

Theres many legs that end in stumps, which isn't always a bad point with zombies, but a bit much for all of them. I also found lots of feet, so I've set about matching feet and ankles. I feel like a right Necromancer.

Sleepy now. My laptop keeps overheating and switching itself off in the middle of my posts, sucks.

Ogryn Merc for Necromunda. Last version of the Guard Ogryns, had lost the Ripper Gun arm somewhere along the line. That arm was replaced with an Ork shoota boy arm, which was bulked up with some chain. He was then given a gun made from the Goliath plastic autogun with a ammo drum from an Ork shoota. Base is two 40k slottas glued together (one was but down a bit so they fit together).

I now want a company of these guys (but can't afford the £100 for the Apocalypse deal!)

Not gona get much done today, the girlfriend is visiting for a couple of days. So, no painting, but lots of strenuous exercise. Pluses and minuses I suppose.
