Hi I'm Keravin and I did wonder why it got so quiet at other places. This is my project log. My problem is not lack of painting. It's getting distracted and failing to take photos. I've been in the hobby over 25 years, but have never really painted my own stuff due to lack of confidence and coordination (only got the one working eye you see). My wife took up painting when we moved in together and since then I've got over myself and started painting my own figures finally. So this is still very much a learning experience - white and yellow being particular learning experiences ![]() My big issue now is not doing painting, but getting projects finished, armies done and not buying a whole load of stuff I don't need yet. Oh and we're still having issues taking decent photos, but we're learning and so pictures may be a little slow to appear. I'm currently about 2 units behind on getting photos taken. My current focus is on painting up the Fifth Company plus extras of the Blood Ravens. That's the full company plus about half the Scout Company, half the veterans/Terminator Company and about a quarter of the Seventh company for bikes and landspeeders. No vehicles bigger than a Landspeeder in this army. Got 3 other Space Marine armies to do that sort of thing in. Each of these armies is constructed to let me try something different and also to allow me to construct/convert figures that suit their intended purpose. This then is the Terminator heavy/Infilitrate/Dreadnought heavy/Scout army. It's also been built on the basis that they have the nice armour. The other Marine armies I have are a mixture of old and new styles of armour. This lot have the new stuff. At the same time I'm also currently working on sorting a colour scheme for my Eldar. Due to a couple of circumstances these are now going to be done as a variation on the Altansar Craftworld. This means more red, black and bone which is why I'm sorting the base colour schemes now and then figuring what other army to paint instead alongside the Blood Ravens. Possibly Tau, possibly Drop Troop Guard, possibly Mech Guard. Who knows? And dipping in and out will be random RPG figures and bits and pieces for Warmachine and Hordes. Around Christmas a whole mass of Privateer Press stuff will show up as my wife and I paint up the next stage of our Pirate army. Edited by Keravin, 8 Mar 2009, 11:19 PM.

Bear in mind I did say the photos were rubbish. I've also just realised I have no finished pictures so that's something to rectify shortly. ![]() Terminator Squad 1 ![]() Veterans Squad. Converted to be an infilitrating squad. I've used Elysian Plasma and Melta for the normal squads to limit the numbers I had. I'm using the right kneepad to establish what Company they are to avoid having to do awful colours on their shoulderpads. Some WIP shots of the 5th Company Commander ![]() Who now has a combi plasma and etching on his cloak. And the Chief Librarian ![]() Who has lost the awful yellow. Pictures will definitely get sorted |

Liking the colour scheme on the marines, the aged white looks especially good. I too have trouble painting yellow, but I completely avoid yellow at all costs. Really should'nt I know. The red looks good also, will keep watch over this log. |

Great looking Blood Ravens Keravin! (good idea removing the yellow
) I particularly like the pose on the chap to the right of the meltagunner, looks just like he fired off a shot from his boltgun. If you'd like some C&C, I'd paint a small dot of Skull White in the corner of the eye lenses, the green on its own is nice but a small dot would make them shine I think. The bases and barricades are excellent! |

Thanks for the comments. Yeah yellow alludes me for now. Think I've finally cracked shading on white, but yellow will require more work. Working on finishing bases now and should get an army shot so far as well tomorrow. That's the plan anyway. On my work desk currently is: Basing and squad markings for Veteran squad, Terminator Squad 2, Tac Squad 2 Basing for Chief Librarian, Company Champion and Apothecary Finishing Eldar colour scheme tests. 2 Blood Raven Assault Squad marines 1 Blood Raven Biker - almost finished. Whilst the bases are drying I'm also doing test schemes for Tau, Drop Troops and Mech Guard. This should help me sort out what I will paint alongside the Blood Ravens. Pictures tomorrow hopefully. |

Managed photos so going to do this in a couple of updates so as not to put everything up at once. First up is an army shot of where the Blood Ravens are up to. ![]() The new Terminator Squad based with just their squad markings and varnish to be done. ![]() And the 1st Company Captain.

Been working on colour schemes for other armies. The Drop Troops and Mechanised Guard in progress. ![]() And the Tau ![]() The old scheme for the Tau was ![]() Looks too false to me so I want something green, especially having seen some great schemes on Warseer. Still to come - more on the Eldar schemes, a stack more Blood Ravens including finished figures and some of the conversions I've been doing. |

Ok no responses but on with the show. The Eldar scheme is in full swing. ![]() These were the first test models. From that I've done some Aspect tests. ![]() I like the idea of the Aspects being part of the Craftworld so their colour schemes reflect the Craftworld's. ![]() ![]() Quite happy with the basing on the Jetbike. |

![]() This scheme will be used for the basic scouts using the old figures and the newer ones will probably have a slightly different coat, but also allow the basic Guardian scheme underneath. ![]() |

Cheers. Can't take credit for any of the normal bases. My wife does those. Though having seen Deadley's bases I'm tempted to add some dead grass to them to break them up when I'm not using rubble. |

Been putting together my Christmas list so joining my Steel Legion will shortly be some Krieg. Buying them slowly and using them for Command and special units rather than doing a whole army of them. Tanks on the other hand will get more of a Krieg influence. I think that'll get me doing my Armoured Company/Mechanised Infantry as the next army. On with the Blood Ravens though ![]() Our Chief Librarian in his sunday suit and two of his boys. I got rid of the yellow on the three Librarians I'm painting now, but it looks ok on these two. ![]() The Terminator Librarian in progress. He's taking ages. He's very much a figure I put to one side and come back to every so often. ![]() The 5th Company Captain. Might need to tidy up his eyes. |

And his Command Squad ![]() I have to decide how to arm the other marine and to build the Company standard bearer, but one thing I do know - they won't be pointing a weapon out to that side

The Veterans are now done except for Chapter markings![]() And I decided also to get some shots of the finished Tac Squad ![]() ![]() Next up are the shotgun conversions and more wip. Got next week off so hoping to finish the Eldar so far and crack on with sorting the colour schemes on the rest and making a good start on the second army. |

It now looks like I'm doing my Mech Guard/Steel Legion as the next army. Buying some Krieg as Stormtroopers and command to give me some goodies to keep me going and also converting up all the tanks as well. Been rewriting the list and got it set up in 2 ways. A) As a straight Mechanised Guard army and Non Mechanised, but with Heavy Weapon Platoons.Anyone know how close in size Steel Legion and Death Korp are? If I can get a good amount done then I will let myself pick up a Macharius Vulcan to be one of the focal points of the army. Oh and maybe a Baneblade. Looking at 8 Chimera, 2 LR, 1 Vanquisher, 1 Demolisher and a Basilisk to start with. Got 3 platoons so that's why I can't do it all as Mechanised. I've also rejigged it as well to let me have Rough Riders and Ogryn in the list. The Ogryn will need their own special Chimera. Rough Riders of course will be DKOK. |

Lookin' Good! IF I may add a suggestion, try a light ink wash (chestnut ink) on the chest eagles of your marines. Should help them POP out a bit. You can lightly drybrush the original [colour] back over the eagles. Anyways, good work, and keep posting! --Brian |

The chest eagles have all had a flesh wash and then drybrush. Think I need some new brushes as I think it's settling a little thick. |
