I want an all storm trooper army (so I don't have to paint thousands of infantry).

I also want threm to deep strke and infiltrate, which if taken as troops they cannot do, but and here's the cheating could I take Drop Troops and Light Infantry and regain all their special abilities?

Which set of rules override the other?

Thanks if you can help me,

Sorry mate but no you can't do this, the doctrines state infantry squads, Greniders are not infantry squads.

You could always kit the "troop" Storm troopers out with a valkyrie....

Damn what a shame! :(

Thanks for the heads up though, and charlie if you can afford that many valkeries then share your wealth with us poor folk. :P

Oh well I'll just have to fill my elite choices up with them.

EDIT: Has anyone got tips for an all stormtrooper army i.e how to mount troop stormtroops etc.

Hang on Isn't there a way to do all stormies by having an inquisitor as your HQ (made to look very military) and using them as troops choice?

Old Guards right - just pick which ever list takes your fancy (daemonhunters or witch hunters) and make your inquisitor a colonel...

You can then mix in guard units as your guard army grows, and chuck in stuff like Valks later.

So If I play daemonhunters I can make an Inqistitor a colonel and have and all stormie army?

Sounds like an answer to my problems.

Thanks everyone,

Yeah, that's part of the beauty of having a DH/WH army. I've started one, and i'm on my third squad of Stormies. they all count as troops choices. Also, the nice thing of having an Inquisitor is you can literally bring in ANY imperial army. You can mix and match IG with Marines and it's all legal. The only thing you can';t do is have Grey Knights and mairnes in the same list. I think it counts as "if you have GK's, why would you need marines?"

In the Witchhunters book, the inducted Stormtroopers Troops option doesn't list Deep Strike or Infiltrate as abilities. And, you can't attach Elite IG Stormtroopers to a Witchhunter army. I don't have the book to hand, but expect it'll be the same in the Daemonhunters Codex.

Chapter Approved Armoured Company from White Dwarf might be worth a look, if the BRB doesn't explicitly stop vehicles, as opposed to transports, from capturing objectives. Leman Russes in Troop slots, Stormtroopers in all three Elite slots. George Dellapino (sp?) showcased an army just like that in WD a couple of years back, possibly in the same issue as the AC list.

Whole IG army is changing with the Codex that's rumoured to be out in May though, so there may be more ways to work the Stormtroopers then.

(Rumoured plastic Valkyrie kit alongside the Codex. I'll be getting 3.)
