Chaos Mortals List; "Get you by"

Was down the local GW earlier today and they showed me something very interesting from next months White Dwarf... a Chaos Mortals "Get you by" list... I had a look through, not too thorough but not just a skim either, and it seems okay to me...

Characters are effectively the same, and Daemon Prince's are part of the list as well... God specific daemonic mounts are all just lumped into 'daemonic mounts', so no juggy, palanquin, fiend or disc rules... and characters are also cheaper as well as a whole...

Chaos knights, chariots and marauder horsemen have been moved to special (d'oh <_<) though again they are all cheaper as are warriors, marauders and horsemen...

Rare still comprise of Spawn (who may now not be marked), though Giants are there, as are Hellcannons (who still take 2 special choices)...

Marks have more then halved in price across the entire army, though half of them (tzeentch and khorne in particular) have become less good then they were before...

the upgrade to chosen is also cheaper now, and any unit of warriors/knights may take a magic standard rather then just one each...

Magic Items is very lacking, being just a single page long... though some of the old favourites are still there...

As a whole I quite like the new rules, though remember, it is just a "Get you by" and the real thing will be out later this year along with rules for god specific mounts, god specific lores and a couple more pages of magic items and banners ;)

They were on about this at WHW when I questioned the Deamon Codex screwing up the other linked ones. Just wish they release the L&tD one in WD now!

that'd be nice... oh, and forgot to mention... allying armies together via core becoming special etc is out... its all individual armies now :P though taking 2 allied armies each with one char and 2+ core (depending on points) is fine as normal XP

I know it's a get you by list, but it really sucks the life out of my Chaos army. WTH are Marauder horsemen doing in special?

Luckily for me I'll still be able to combine in my group. I just won't play in any tournaments before January.

I'll be waiting for the actual book before I start a chaos raiders force, then ...

If they have moved cavalry to special, the money-grabbing [self censored: idiots] ...

Thanks for the news, anything to do with chaos, good or bad, is always welcome. ;)

and surely they would make more money by havin cavalry remain core? and by getting a new chariot model... hmm...

Add in another voice to the clamour of disatisfaction towards the new list.
One thing that I always liked about the tzeentch list was the focus on powerful warrior mages, and then along comes this thing and removes it, replacing it with an utterly useless, and inexplicable talisman of protection  Useful for units admittedly, and getting rid of the power dice batteries is probably a good thing, but why on earth would you take that on a character!

Basically I;m just ignoring this list; my opponents will all let me play with the HoC book, and I probably won;t have a playable force until the new book comes out anyway

well hopefully the new book will fix some of these idiocracies and we can all be a bit happier... the prospect of warriors and knights being cheaper is great, meaning more models in my army ;) plus i cant wait to get some khorne knights with lances ;) hopefully the marks will get slightly better again in the book :P
