Right lads keep this tactics. Theres a log (twenty minuters) open for the modelling now.

I want a list of Assets you would like to see, and ones you want losing. Remember this isn't Apocalypse, its not a free for all, theres clear armies, clear directives and clear goals.

Hence it will be named different.

I want ideas on that to!

Things like 'Combined Battleforce 40k'?

Ok tatctics if this all goes a head my destroyer is gonna need 3 escorts of either thunderbolts or lightenings,

So any one out there willing to be my wing men (women) crazy enough to protect your beloved mod on this ground assualt runs.

Well I'm woundering Is it better to go with Fighta-Bomberz withe inferno bombz (fun temeplete) or go gor Gort Bombs errrr Super Rokkits.. any advice?

both, magnetise them on, swap when you need it!

Right brainstorming, this will play to 40k/Forgeworld Rules.

You can play from combat patrol (infiltration) to 6000 point doubles.

Each player is allowed 5 asset points, ie:

Air defence Platforms 1 point
Air Defence Radar 1 point
Both together 1 point (gives the AAA BS4 upgrade)

Thats the type of thing.

Others are:

Infiltration (pathfinders) 1 point
Location Beacon 1 point (with Pathfinders gives D6 drop instead of 2D6)
Army Dropship (carries 1000 points of army listing) 3 points.

These are the things I want off you guys, Assets that can be bought like a doctrine, which will enhance the battle, not hinder it like some of the Apocalypse ones. We want it to flow and be enjoyable, so it doesn't hold up any linking games.

I for one would question using aircraft against BS4 AAA until my vets had taken then out on the ground. That is like real warfare. Then I'd air assault.

Ideas!!!

Well, tactics wise, I will provide at least one Thunderbolt to play escort Wolverine. I am hoping that if this goes ahead, and with a year to work on it, I'll be able to do more, but I pledge one at least.

Am I right in reading that that Infilitration would represent drop troops?

Just wondering how we'd differentiate infilitrators and drop troops? (Of course I pretty much figure my Blood ravens won't be infiltrating by then thanks to the new codex, but we will still have scouts, commandos etc).

Would it be better to assign these to the various missions? So for instance, Attacking the AAA/Radar site. Defender has aaa platfroms and radar, trenches, hard points, mine fields etc up to five. Attackers have infiltrate, beacon, drop ship etc.

Then have say two aaa guns to a radar complex, if you hold one/two and a radar then it's BS4, hold one/two but not the radar then BS3, hold the radar and you get some sort of sighting bonus?

Thats virtually what we are looking for. Depends on the scenario tho, your bang on with Installation attack, but if the battle is two forces in the field then fixed Radar isn't available because you'll be using mobile hydras. Theres alot of playtesting with this to get the right mix, but I think restricting to 5 doctrine assets points will keep it simple

I have to admit, this whole project is very very tempting...

I'm assuming that no one is going to hurl fire and brimstone at me if I decide to put off buying Lightnings etc etc until a few months in? It's just that I've got a potential Vostroyan army in the pipelines, not to mention a Cityfight board to finally get underway, and I hate having to pull out of doing things if I've said I'll do it previously...

This will be playtested for the remainder of the year before we PDF it out as a campaign.

During playtesting anything can represent the aircraft, its just working out how it plays, is it balanced and more importantly, does it flow?

I would say if they're attacking a Harden Radar istallation, the Radar itself would have structure points and the AAA batteries operated independatly from the Radar unless it something like a SAM siol, but then that would problem be hardened as well.


As for helping out attack the enemies in the feild at radar instillation would probly be some kind of modile array or "man" protable, making it hard for the enemy to discover the true location. (so more of a man hunt opperation tell the ground forces can identify the Radar source)



BTW: I am not an Expert, never done any "real" life warfare so take what ever comments I have made with a grain of Salt.

Oh another good Scenario: Night Raid

Defender Sets up an Air Base and deploys Sentries. (100% points)

Attacker choose whether to deploy all troop (no Sentries/ go straight to game), The Attacker can attempt to destory Air Craft on the ground/AAA Barrties/Radio/Barracks. (75% points)

IF and when the Alarm is raised defender gets a turn pilots run from Barracks to their aircraft.(when in their aircraft the planes taxi one turn< and become air born)

Might that not be better as a kill-team scenario? Say everyone brings one and they're either trying to take out important structures or commanders etc and the results have a bearing on the 40k, Apoc and AI game?
