Quick Q for all that game regularly.

Can a weapon that buys Indirect fire as an upgrade fire directly?

As an example an earthshaker platform (based on WW2 flak 88 gun, anti air/anti tank gun) if I pay for indirect fire do I have to fire indirectly, even if a carnifex is standing 20" away waving at me?

I have read the big book but never saw/found anything on this, either that or I am being a retard! :P

It can fire indirectly at targets it can't see. ie it rolls 2 dice and takes the highest on deviation as opposed to one dice for targets it can see. It never uses it's BS skill for it's main weapon if that's what you mean as it's ordnance. Remember though, to fire indirectly, you have to be a minimum of 36" away.

Cheers, I was under the impression it was a lob and hope shot, but that would seem very limiting!

Digits I think the question is if you can see itdo you still fire indrectly, which from my experiance is no you can take a straight shot as the target if you can see it.

If you can see you can shot it.

if you fire directly it scatters 1 D6
if you fire indirectly it scatter 2D6.

If you upgrade to indirect fire you still can fire as normal if you can see tehm
