I really like the twin cockpit idea! Could make a good section command for the Talon group? LIke have a Commissar in the back and driver in the front? Perhaps just using the standard legs with a weight on the back like the Power Lifter Sentinel from FW? The Elysian head on Cadian body is brilliant. Excellent idea! |

Here's the issue: Does the Russian Uniform green look better? Or the German Grey? The Elysian heads are stand-ins for the moment, although I think I will give my HSO the Elysian head and marine arms to represent Carapace armour.I have a nice set of shotguns and bolters also. One of the bolters looks like an M16 which I think will look nice for an Officer. Sentinel almost done, just need to install the roll bar, pilot and voila. I just need to clean the Priest's mouth up a little. I wanted to give him a gold tooth. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The servitor's a good idea, but if I do make one, then my pilots would be humans....ties in with my army. I don't really like the ogryns, ratlings etc. Having said that, having a servitor handle all the weapons duties and have the human focus on the driving seems an awesome idea. |

Some photos of my Colonel. He's not finished as I am awaiting the necromunda close combat weapon sprue (he's going to have an uzi heheh). Also I need to highlight his arms and paint his shoulder armour. Also note the In Progress Chimera. It needs repainting. I also need to neaten up the Colonel's armour in some places.![]() ![]()

I love the helmet colour contrast with the gold and lens, unsure of the bottom plate on the chimera tho, tho it maybe just the angle its at on the photo. |

I might remove that. I was simply messing around with some "extra armour" ideas and that was all I could come up with! |

Your colonel is looking good, a little like the american officers in a desert fight?
And if I was you, I should base my models with an other method, they are nice, but the bases should be a little more detailed.

It's been a long time since I posted to this log. So....without further ado. I finally broke into some new models...Deathwatch Marines. There will be seven of these guys serving alongside my IG regiment. Hawk Lords, Imperial Fists, Raven Guard and Ultramarines will be represented. The first DW Marine I have painted is from the Hawk Lords...I apologize for the darkness of the picture; the shoulder pad is painted liche purple with a dry brush of warlock purple as I think is right for the Hawk Lords. Also- I have no superglue so that's why he's currently unarmed. Any painting tips would be good as I'm not very happy with what I've got there- I feel my painting is too "blotchy". I'd especially appreciate advice on painting Marine eyes. Hope you like it anyway ![]() ![]() - MM. |

I never have superglue. The GW stuff dries up so fast that I get a bit sick of buying it! Never mind. |

Get 'Loctite Gel Contol' Super Glue, you can find it in supermarkets and other shops where they sell DIY stuff. This stuff is great, and I MUCH recommend it to you, its is much better then GW's rubbish! Nice Marines by the way! DK |

Yeah, I got them from West Wind. I really like the Catachan Body/US Army Helmet combination (they go well together with the minimum of fuss) but I find painting the skin of the Catachans very frustrating. I will keep some of them in my army as "hardened vets" but the rest of the army is probably going to be Cadian. I was inspired by various Vietnam films with the carbine as I saw Sergeants and Officers using a carbine version of the standard infantry weapons. I'm going to try and give all the Sergeants in my army carbines. Some Officers will have special weapons ie CCW and pistols. Edited by Mordian Marauder, 9 Dec 2008, 10:22 PM.

Brief update...today reinforcements arrived. Quick postage from GW HQ in Nottingham but I find the files to be a little "soft" and not very hard wearing- is there any way to sharpen them? Any way, box contains Cadians, Glue, various paints, files, Web Only Marine Sarge (who I may customize to use with DW by omitting his bolter arm and replacing with a plastic one) flock and spray paints. The blue pot was a little something I found in the kitchen and is now used as a paint brush water holder. Finished DW Marine above pretty much due to superglue arriving and made my first Sarge and Trooper (basecoated skull white) for the force. Paint tomorrow, although I am a little concerned about painting white pants...no idea how to do it!! Photos to follow.

there aint no way to sharpen files except with a file sharpening grinder. And i doubt you have one of those... These files are definately finer teethed but harder than the old ones... however the old ones really needed heat treating.. new ones probably do too. |

Here's Tonite's update. I found painting the white trousers to be easier than I originally intended. Note that the brown on the trousers has been removed- I felt I conveyed the "swamp" enough by covering the Sergeant's boots with the flock. Still WIP. Deathwatch Marine just needs transfers then he's good to go. I also need to detail the Sergeant's face a little more. With the Sergeants I want to portray a more "experienced" feel...so that's why he's wearing a Sentinel Pilot's headgear; I figured that all the Sergeants of the Rangers would have to undergo some sort of scout training in case they got separated from their squad. As a result, they all rotated in Sentinel squadrons before becoming Infantry Sergeants.... Comments and Constructive Critiques welcomed ![]() ![]()
