Despite the long periods of procrastination I actually really enjoyed painting her in the end. Once I got the colour palette sorted I got to add a lot of detail work - probably the most of any model I've ever painted. I'm particularly proud of the leopard print on the right side of her tights, and the make-up on her face. Here's a close-up:

And that wouldn't be a Spook canister she's swigging from, would it? Surely such an upstanding citizen wouldn't even dream of imbibing contraband psychoactive liquids.

I also used a lot of Artcoat to achieve a shiny finish on her - on her red leather boots, on her PVC black tights, on the bottle and on the light fitting.

And now that I've finished her, I've started procrastinating on painting the Venators.

So instead, I knocked up a Confrontation Tech gang using mainly parts from the Catachan command squad:

Main inspirations were these guys:

The guy on the far left is probably my favourite. I love the idea that in the Hive, you can't even do routine maintenance without a weapon to hand in case of an attack by hollering Brats or a rival Tech gang trying to increase their production capacity by taking over your factory level.

Here's the other two:

The one on the left is from a now OOP FW Vehicle Crew, I've always loved it. The one on the right has in-build ventilator body from the DV Cultist - the idea being that each of the Techs has some modification, tool or skill to allow them to perform different maintenance tasks.

I had an odd inspiration for the colour scheme on these guys. I happened to be in Crewe station near midnight on Saturday night (such is the glamorous life I lead), and wandering through the crumbling brick archways and scaffolding on the platform, I saw a figure in orange slouching towards me. Yep, my Techies are going to be National Rail workers.

Last of all, Spyrer surprise!

Funnily enough, these guys were some of my first Inq28 models - I started them a couple of years ago and then didn't do anything with them. They were inspired by the background in the first Tau Codex about Water Caste diplomats trading battlesuit tech to noble Hive World houses.

They're a bit clunky but still fun. Need to Imperialise them a bit (although the Jakara bodysuit doesn't look oddly similar to the Eldar one I've used), and the Yeld is missing a right arm. Any suggestions?

@whiskey priest - thanks for the offer. I haven't attended any events since Games Day back in the good old days, but would love to get involved in BOYL and other Inq28 gatherings.
