Hello! I have questions regarding the version of Aim Ad Hack to download and installation of Aim and/or Aim Ad Hack. Please excuse me if these are answered in FAQs or other posts - I have looked through both of these and seen bits and pieces, but am still not sure... I have a new laptop and want to install instant messaging. I have a "clean slate" and want so very much not to muddle things up right off the bat! (I'm somewhat of a dreamer!) I've had problems in the past with Aim versions newer than 5.9, so went back to 5.9 and was overall happy with the featurites. I don't need any of the new things with newer versions of Aim - I use it for plain IMing only, with a small buddy list. I have sent direct files with it, but do not *need* this. My first question is, "Is Aim 5.9 relatively safe from security attacks?" I've searched and searched on this and again, I get bits and pieces. Is it safer because it does not have the features of the new versions of Aim? Is it not safer because it doesn't have later protections? I'm rather at a loss! My second questions is, "If I want to stick with AIM 5.9, what version of Ad Hack do I download?" Do I install Aim 5.9 first, then Ad Hack? I think I read that with AIM 5.9 and earlier, that that was they way to do it, but with later versions of Aim, the thing to do is install Ad Hack *instead* because it installs AIM itself. If the result of all of this is that I stick with AIM 5.9, on the download screen I see: Aim Ad Hack 4.16 for Aim Version 5.9.6089 Aim Ad Hack Light for the 5.2- 5.9x series Smilez for Aim 5.1+ [Adds tabbing, works well] Would I install Ad Hack 4.16 if I install 5.9.6089 or would I install Ad Hack Light instead? What is the difference? Would Smilez be installed after that? Would I be better off installing a later version of Ad Hack? I realize that is a subjective question! I'm running Windows Vista 64. Thank you! |
