She grinned, even managing a small blush. "Well, I've gotta say, I love an honest man." Leaning forward again after removing her boots from the table, she took another cherry. "Tell you what. My place is pretty damn close. Only a block away. And I assure you, it's so isolated...that no one will hear me scream. I should warn you though...I'm very enthusiastic." And like that, she savoured the cherry before snapping off the stem again. "I'm a bit of a...submissive, believe it or not. Does that bother you?" She eyed him, feigning a worried look as if he would reject her then and there.

He was glad he was wearing a long coat... else his... situation... would have become very apparent to her. Though it seemed likely that she was to discover that for herself very shortly. He nearly jumped the table on claiming she was enthusiastic, but he doubted she was as much as he right then.

He was given pause at her claims to be submissive, as usually it were he that was happy to submit to the woman.
"That is... unexpected... though my dear I doubt anything could deter me from your ravishing form at this moment."

He stood and as she stood, slid his arm around her waist.

Meanwhile Shae stood stock still, preparing in her own mind for the attack. She was anxious yes, but as she stood on a tank overlooking the rest of the floor, she took deep breaths to calm herself. She preferred to be up high, to have an advantage of the place. She had cloaked the place in a subtle darkness, so that anyone entering would not notice them.

Leon was on a catwalk behind her, he was not sure what he was about to witness... and frankly was afraid for his sister.

Shae paused as she heard a sound.

"Are you ready Noire?" She muttered.

Noire could hear the roar of machinery in the floor above them while they waited in the basement. As Shae regarded her, the girl nodded slightly. She stood next to Leon, feeling slightly uncomfortable. While they waited, there was a sound she was able to pick up. Someone was coming. Well, Rubi wasn't joking about how long it would take. Pirates worked quick it seemed. She watched as the older woman smiled while that toad of a man clung to her waist. Disgusting human male. She resisted a snarl, even as Rubi closed the door.

"Just let me get the light," she said. "I like to see everything."

No doubt, La Fayette was probably confused at this point. Rubi listened as she heard movement and something land, and she would do nothing about it. As La Fayette peered through the dark, he saw a pair of intensely glowing blue eyes filled with such hate, that it put of fear of god in him. Seconds later, he was grabbed around the neck by something hard and strong as the demon forcibly thrust him against the ground. When the darkness was suddenly lifted, Noire was seen pinning the pitiful man down by his neck, her face filled with rage.

Rubi tossed the sedative to Leon. "Didn't even need the damn thing. The little man panted after me in two minutes. I've never met anyone so pathetic in my life."

This information just enraged Noire even more, hissing out, "You disgusting bastard..."

Shae watched as Rubi entered the warehouse with the panting slobbering dog known as La Fayette, he tried to grab Rubi several times before they stopped in the centre of the cleared room,

"Just let me get the light," Rubi stated, and Shae held out her hand, bring her shadows back to her.

La Fayette turned in time to see Noire pounce on him, She had him pinned in seconds, her hands were sharp, the claws black and hardened. Leon stepped down, following Noire to the main area as Rubi tossed him a vial.

"Didn't even need the damn thing. The little man panted after me in two minutes. I've never met anyone so pathetic in my life." Rubi said. Leon frowned,

"He looks like he needs to be put out of his misery," Leon growled.

"Jaques La Fayette," Shae stated from the shadows, she kept herself cloaked, to them she would just be a disembodied voice. "Two years ago, you made a tour of the Ravenholm Facility. And you funded some of their projects." She circled them, from up on high on the tanks. "Would you care to clear your conscience of what else you did there?"

'thud' she dropped from the ceiling, landing like a cat, bare feet touching the cold concrete.

The man paled considerably, he began to struggle. He knew what was coming the moment he saw those two pairs of eyes.

"No! No please! I swear! I didn't want to! I... They told me I had to! Please! I didn't mean to hurt you--"

"Hurt us?" Noire repeated, voice hoarse with a mix of anguish and rage. She said it so quietly, that Jaques nearly didn't hear her. Even her face had changed somewhat, as if distracted by memories. The her voice grew stronger. "You have no fucking clue as to what kind of damage you caused!" Teeth gnashed together, eyes glowing more fiercely as if in blue flame. "You think being ignorant excuses you?! Forced?! HA!"

The memories rushed into her like a tidal wave, and the shock of it consumed her as the cold set in, her eyes burning. All she could see was water all around her as it threatened to fill her lungs and freeze her bones to the point that a hit to one of them might make them shatter. In the beginning, she had been afraid, like any other child. Every child had been told that they were sick, and for awhile, she believed that, as she usually associated illness with dying, and it certainly felt like she was whenever she had gone through the tests. She was a child. She didn't know any better.

As she grew up, she became numb to the experiments. She was recluse, sitting in her corner or at her desk while most of her inmates kept to themselves. The only one that seemed cheered was Shaede. Hadn't she given up? Curiously, Noire had watched her, coming back to herself little by little, becoming brightened by Shaede's attitude. Then La Fayette came, clapping his hands together like an excited child before practically throwing money at the beggars called scientists. He especially eyed her and Shaede for some inexplicable reason. It was odd, but the same man who took her away was standing beside the short man. The only thing she knew was that he was a Prince. Weren't princes supposed to be good guys who rescued princesses?

It was only a week after their visit that Noire endured something that would traumatize her for months. The Tank. To bring her out of her reclusive shell, they began dunking her in water that was chilled to freezing temperatures. The stress alone would have killed anyone normal, but no, she survived...and screamed. They always left her in there long enough until she was seconds away from drowning, dunking her until she couldn't feel anything anymore. When they finished, she was thrown into her room, curled into a ball in a corner, freezing for hours to come. Shaede had sneaked into her room somehow, comforting her and keeping her warm til Noire finally fell asleep.

Though it had proved to be torture, the scientists had gotten the result they wanted. She woke up from her dazed state...and grew angry. It was the first time she killed anyone, and it took nearly ten men to finally subdue her. Then she was initialized into Project Diablo, a two-part project. She was unaware of what the second half entailed, but knew the first part involved turning her kind into the perfect assassins. Still, whenever she
misbehaved, she was thrown into the tank, leaving her mentally scarred, even avoiding the showers when it was the bathing hour since they only sprayed cold water.

For a few minutes, Noire couldn't breathe, lost in the past. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Jaques reached into his pocket, pulling out a knife and thrusting it desperately towards Noire's throat. She leaned back, dodging the short-armed slice before grasping his wrist with another clawed hand, squeezing painfully until he cried out in pain, dropping the small blade with a clatter. He whimpered and Noire considered him for a moment. Pathetic. His scream suddenly rent the air as she squeezed harder before a snap was heard, bones and joints cracking and tearing under the pressure til it broke completely. She finally released him, standing up and walking away. She felt sick. Going into a corner, she collapsed to her knees and keeled over, throwing up.

Shaede watched Noire, a glaze seemed to form over her eyes, she was suddenly distant, looking back. Shaede was about to call her friend's name, when she Snapped. La Fayette tried to stab her, Shaede took a step forward but she needn't worry, Noire was faster grabbing his wrist, clenching it until There was a sickening snap.

As soon as it was done she hurried off. Leon could hear the girl emptying her guts and went to her side.

"Noire..." he murmured, hesitantly placing his hand on her shoulder. "Can I do anything?" He pulled out a flask of water and offered it to her.

Shaede however was stuck in a trance, her molten silver eyes raging. She pulled the whimpering slug up to his knees, as she circled him.
"How many?" She asked, "how many other girls did they bribe you with before you parted with your precious money?" She hissed.

"I... i don't... noone... please I swear ... they offered me her as well but I just took you... i didn't... please don't kill me... I won't--" he choked and spat out blood before he could finish. Blood dripped onto her arm, as her hand was plunged into his chest. Using her shadow power, she had begun to gain the ultimate stealth... she could phase through objects. And as her hand gripped round his still-beating heart, his eyes went wide.

"Never... again..." she hissed, jerking her hand back quickly, ripped the organ from its owner. Blood sprayed everywhere, and La Fayette gave a strangled weak cry.... before falling into a bloody heap, hole in his chest. Shaede dropped the organ with a 'splat' as she turned to face the others. Her frown returned as she saw them looking at her with wide eyes. Admittedly, she had not done that before... even Noire had not seen the technique. However she kept her face expressionless.

"We are done here," she stated.

Noire tensed the second Leon put his hand on her. Like a wild animal, she growled, smacking away his hand as she barely managed to hiss out, "Don't touch me."

Rubi placed a hand on Leon's shoulder, pulling him away after the flask had clattered to the floor. Keeping their distance from two very angry young women with supernatural talents that could kill you was the best course of action. If Leon had persisted, Shaede's brother or not, Noire would no doubt harm him in some way. Yes, the girls were relatively in their right state of mind, but like cautious beasts, they were startled and angered easily. Ravenholm made certain of that.

As Shaede finished off the man, Rubi's brows rose into her hair bangs with astonishment. Well then, she thought, you don't see that everyday. Noire barely noticed, showing mild surprise, but otherwise seemed fine with it. The raven haired girl stood upon Shae's announcement, her eyes haunted. When the girls left, Rubi looked at the body with a slight frown then reached into her coat to pull out a walkie-talkie-like communicator.

"McKay," she said into it.

It took a moment, but there was a crackling on the other end as the pilot answered, "What? I'm working."

"I need you to grab a couple of guys and do a cleanup."

There was a pause. "Did something happen?"

"Just get over here and do the job," she replied impatiently.

"Where's here?"

"The black warehouse. You remember where that is?"

"Yeah, I remember."

"Let me know when you're done," she said dismissively, putting away the comm. Turning to Leon, she patted him on the back. "C'mon...I'm starving. Besides, we should try to get their minds off the grisly event."

Shaede ignored Rubi and Leon for the most part, and opted instead to go to Noire. She wrapped her arms around the girl, Shaede was not afraid of her claws, she had been scratched before.

"It's over... I'm sorry Noire... I'm sorry I couldn't protect you," she held back tears... that man had invaded her. It was all she could do to protect Noire. But now, he was dead.

She took a deep breath, gritting her teeth as she knelt down before her friend, pushing the events from her mind.

"Shaede--" Leon started, but Shaede ignored him.

"Lets get out of here," She offered a smile, helping her friend up. She felt a weight lifted from her shoulders, knowing he could not do that to anyone again... she only wished she could take his money, to ensure Ravenholm did not get another cent of funding

Motivated by hunger and the need to help the girls forget, Rubi took them to a quaint little breakfast place that just seemed...cute. The Captain led the three to booth on one of the upper floors while surrounded by flowers and shaded by trees. From this floor, they could see a good portion of the city that seemed to glitter. And at the centre of this floating island was a golden spire with a silver dome near the top that seemed to shine as a diamond would.

Rubi leaned her head back. "Such a beautiful place." Leaning forward on the table, she peered at the raven-haired pair. "If you two are up for it later, I was thinking of doing a little shopping in the afternoon." Before either of them could answer, Rubi spotted her pilot as he ascended the nearby stairs, wearing his brown duster and hat. "McKay," she greeted.

"Captain," he returned, taking a seat next to her. "It's being dealt with at the moment," he said quietly.

She nodded. "How's the ship?"

"Minor damage. Everything will be tiptop by tomorrow morning."

"Good."

Aidan glanced at Shaede but said nothing. He had seen the body, and at this moment, the body was being disposed of and the area sanitized. Last thing they needed was a commotion about murder. The city would have gone into high alert otherwise. When the waitress arrived, they all ordered whatever they wanted and twenty minutes later, they were dining on breakfast. Aidan drank black coffee from a teacup of all things, arching a brow at the delicate appearing dinnerware. Noire ate slowly, her mind lost in space as she forked at her fried eggs. Aidan watched her with subtle interest before averting his eyes. He'd ask Rubi later about it, but he doubted that he would get much out of her. Leon on the other hand... Perhaps he could get some answers out of him.

===

Meanwhile, just outside of the Halbir continent, Mael stood on the small bridge of the ship, staring out the window as they descended towards their destination. The continent of Aendun was a place of danger, as many strange and dangerous creatures lived here. Not only that, but the skies in this area were always dark with the promise of lightning, the thunder sending travellers threatening warnings. As the ship landed, Mael spotted a house on a cliff. It was small, and it looked poorly taken care of. To anyone else, it would have been surprising to them that anyone would bother to live here, but to Mael, it was expected.

He departed the ship after giving the bridge members orders to keep the ship running. As he approached the little house, he heard hurried footsteps and he sighed inwardly. "My Lady, there's no need for you to accompany me. You should relax while I make the negotiations."

Shaede was calm as she sat in the Restaurant. She fiddled with her spoon most of the time, lost in thought. She had wanted to avoid it in the beginning, Killing. But it was so ingrained to her now... trained to destroy... trained to kill. And she had enjoyed that. She had enjoyed ripping the still beating heart from the man's ribcage. She enjoyed sneaking up to her target, knowing that she held their life in her hands. Was she truly a monster? Was she a cruel creation of that heartless factory? Maybe she was.

Her thoughts wandered to this crew with which she found herself, they seemed to be a tight nit team... She wondered what place Noire and herself could possibly take. They were killers. And Rubi seemed to be opposed to the idea. True that Shaede was a Trained tactician and stealth, but that was apart of her assassin repetoir.

The side glances she received from Aidan and her brother had begun to irritate Her. What did they expect her to be? Likely they imagined her to be some damsel in distress, and were repulsed by her ability to fight back. In fact, she found herself irritable anyway, this domestic 'happy family' setting irked her. She was used to briefings and professionalism, and while she did not miss the strict regime, she wanted to get down to business.

The mention of shopping did however strike her interest,
"I should like to pick up some more guns," she stated quietly. And perhaps some more attire. She was not comfortable borrowing these clothes from Rubi. Though she was not entirely sure she wanted shoes. While her feet were now dirty, she could still feel the ground better beneath her.

Leon however was quiet, contemplating what he had seen and heard... the way La Fayette had spoken... made it seem like he had.... done things to her. He felt broken, useless. So long had he wanted to rescue her and save her from this awful life... but he had failed. He was too late. And she didnt seem to need him anymore. His chest ached, how could he have been such a fool?

--

Avalynn smiled as she looked out the great glass windows on the ship, she did so love to explore these strange places... one of the crew mentioned they were close to their destination and she decided to head to the bridge. She spotted Mael at once and her grin widened. She did frown however as he spoke,

"No way," she stated, "I want to size this Ritter fella up myself." She stood there with arms folded. "I'm coming with you."

Mael regarded her for a moment then inwardly sighed once more. "Suit yourself. And tread lightly. The lightning in these parts are notorious for striking down moving objects."

Together they crossed the plain, riddled with small pits of ash everywhere from where the lightning had struck the land. There was a foreboding bit of thunder above them, and just as Avalynn took another step, lightning struck down towards her in a flash. There was a loud clang and flash of light, and once she opened her eyes, Mael stood close to her in a readied position, having drawn his large sword to absorb the attack before deflecting it back with a swing of the blade, the electricity bouncing to another part of the plain. Sheathing his sword once more, he took note of the fact that bolt was actually green.

"He's testing our worth, it seems. Not one for trespassers."

Turning away once more, he resumed his trek towards the little house just as the front door was opened. In the doorway stood a rugged young man with slightly tanned skin and with a minimally bulked athletic build. His copper-brown hair was long, wild, and tied into a low ponytail with layered bangs hanging around his face. What stood out most was the bright green eyes that shone like peridot gems, filled with electricity and impatience. He wasn't exactly dressed to impress either, wearing just a pair of jeans...or maybe he was since he had a great looking body.

"What do you want?" he demanded loud and clear and with preciseness. There was also a very subtle French taste to his accent.

Mael watched him. "We came to employ you by order of Prince Lao."

Bored, Garrick Ritter leaned against the door frame, arms crossed. "It's a sad day when the royal family requires the services of a commoner like me."

"He's only human," Mael replied, noting the twitch in Garrick's cheek.

With a smirk and a scoff, Garrick said, "Yes, that is true." Eyeing them both, he gave Avalynn a considering look then turned back inside. "Come in if you're so inclined."

Mael walked inside to find that the setup was rather simple. Fireplace in one corner with a couch in front of it, a private bathroom with merely a toilet and shower stall. A small kitchen, a table and two chairs, and in another corner was a bed. Against the wall was a small armoury. Hanging on the centre of the wall was an impressive set of wicked axes with a single chain attached to the ends between them. Other than what he saw of the single space was the fact Ritter had managed to keep the place neat. The only thing it lacked was the feeling of home. No, it was just a place Garrick resided it, nothing more. The floor also felt hollow as he walked across. There was probably another room beneath the rug he stood on.

Garrick fell back onto the couch after he grabbed a beer from the kitchen. Raising his hand over the cap, it quivered and bent, then flew off before he took a swig. Mael watched him. "Your powers are quite developed for someone who wasn't raised in Ravenholm."

Garrick scoffed. "Ravenholm, eh? I hear that place is a nightmare for people like me. Lucky for me, I proved too elusive for your scouting agents. Seems like my brother was just as lucky, except he relied on his whore of a mother to escape." Mael said nothing. "So...what can I do for you?"

"Two prisoners escaped." Garrick's brows rose some. "They are top subjects and are very powerful. I even wonder if someone like you can handle two girls."

The young man swung the bottle slightly in a small circle. "You'd be right to wonder. Women tend to be scary when provoked. And it's no wonder two girls are your top soldiers. Women mature faster. However, as to whether or not I can handle them...who knows?"

"Very laid back behaviour for someone who constantly pursues a pirate out of vengeance."

He frowned. "That's my business, two escapees are yours. Besides, you're not selling yourselves very well."

"Prince Lao is willing to pay you whatever you like."

"You think I'm interested in money?"

"Women."

"I can find my own women."

Mael sighed. "Perhaps...resources to aid you in your personal vendetta. We can put out a call to all members of the empire to keep an eye out."

"I can find him easily enough without your help. He travels on an airship called The Alice, captained by a woman named Rubi Squire."

Mael's eyes flashed recognition. "This...Squire woman...what do know of her?"

Garrick gave pause. "Not much. She has no love for your empire, and has some plan to overthrow your prison for non-humans, like some kind of equalist or something. All I know is that she has a cousin she's been trying to find for years."

Mael absorbed this information. "I see. How interesting. One of the prisoner's names is Squire."

Brows rose again. "Well, small world." Finishing off the beer, he put the empty bottle on the table in thought. "There is a chance those two are with her and my brother right now. You'll have your hands full. Well, if you're going up against The Alice, I suppose I could tag along. I've got nothing better to do."

"You will be compensated."

Garrick laughed. "Compensation is for those without a dick. Keep your money. I'm in it for me."

"How long will you need to pack?" the Lt. General asked.

"Ten minutes, tops."

Later, Mael stood outside the ship near the boarding ramp. As Garrick promised, he exited the house dressed more finely than what would expect, wearing a white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a brown tailored vest over top, black pantaloons tucked into black boots with brown button-up spats over them. In one arm he carried a brown trench coat, and in the other hand was a semi-large bag, which he held over his shoulder. As they boarded the ship together, Garrick eyed Avalynn with a little more interest than he initially gave her. She stuck so close to the Lt. General that she was all but hanging off him. It was obvious what was going on then and he smirked to himself. How sad. Unrequited love was a terrible burden.

===

Rubi brightened up at the idea of weapon shopping. "Ah, I know a few good places that sell that kind of merchandise."

"No," Aidan said firmly to her, with a deep scowl on his face.

"What?" she asked innocently.

"You just bought a bunch of ammo and explosives in Parren."

"Why, we broke?"

"Hardly, and that's not even the point. You splurge too much!"

"Nonsense," she waved off with a smile. "A girl can never have enough weapons."

"I'm uncomfortable enough as is with all the explosives on board! One hit to The Alice, and we could all explode!"

"Which is why the armoury is more heavily armoured and everything is padded and secured to the most intricate detail. You worry too much!"

The pilot grumbled to himself, munching on his cheese toast with a comical scowl on his face. "I prefer your girly side. It's less dangerous."

Rubi's eyes shined with a dreaminess. "I do love to dress up like a lady." As if suddenly getting an idea, she smacked her hands on the table with a wide grin on her face. "How would you girls like to get pampered with me? I know a great spa."

"A spa?" Noire finally voiced.

"Facials, massages, a nice hot soak in a hot spring, good food, great service. All that jazz and glamour. And if you want, you can get a makeover and haircut."

Noire frowned a little. "Why? Why do people like that? There's all that...touching."

Rubi blinked, then scratched the back of her head. "Oh right, forgot about the no-touching policy."

Aidan eyed Rubi with an I-told-you-so kind of look. "You're an idiot."

Rubi's brow twitched before she smacked Aidan upside the head. "Shut up!"

"Ow! Dammit, woman!"

Noire blinked as she watched them. These people were so...weird. Thinking over it more, the hot spring idea did appeal to her. "As long as I can skip all the service that requires touching, I'm not opposed to the idea."

Aidan stared at her in surprise while Rubi grinned. "Great! What about you, Miss MacKillan??"

Avalynn was grinning from ear to ear as Mael permitted her to join, however it faded once the terrain became clear to her. It was rocky, jagged and dangerous. No time for playing around... she felt a little jumpy as the lightning flashed around them. She tried to be cool, but shrieked as a bolt hit just in front of where she stood. She shrieked and jumped back, but her heart raced when she opened her eyes. Mael had rushed over to protect her? Maybe... maybe he did care?

The mood was short-lived as he stepped away and pressed on, as they approached the shack - er.... house. The door swung wide and Avalynn got a rather pleasant surprise. Whatever she was expecting of Garrick... it was not... that. Her gaze wandered appreciatively over his entire form.

'I could get used to this...' she thought to herself.

When they were finally allowed inside, Avalynn was a little surprised, it was simple, nothing close to luxury...

"Love what you've done with the place," she drawled as she started to touch nearly everything she passed, lingering on the axes on the wall. Flipping through a book on a table as though she were welcome there. She listened while the men talked but did not have much to add. Though she did look at the man impressed as he demonstrated powers over his beverage. As they spoke she found a smirk growing as she heard him reject nearly every offer Mael suggested. Seems the dark haired man had not thought of everything.

'He sticks to his principles...' the thought approvingly. It was refreshing from those she had seen in the Empire...

When he arrived later to the ship the flame-haired woman was admittedly a little disappointed she had nothing more to perv on. This stranger was new, and interesting, and she was curious to learn more of him. She smirked, she could almost feel his eyes over her as she strut up to the bridge, her hips swaying back and forth.

"So now that business is done for the day, what say you join me for a drink Mael?" she asked sweetly as she brushed his arm with her soft little hand.

Shaede was mildly amused at the interaction between The captain and her pilot, she was content with a simple fruit salad in her bowl, eating once small piece at a time.

"I hear there is a new model of Scorcese Rifle," She mused. "the Falcon 450 model. Accurate to 100 paces, comes with a silencer for snipe shots. I think that would be useful." She mused. Shaede was also interested in a select amount of hand guns and throwing blades to go with her twin duelling swords. The mention of a spa however was interesting... although as Noire mentioned... touching... definitely a no-go. She could not relax else her powers would seep their way into the atmosphere... and she was sure someone would notice. She frowned however when Aidan insulted the Captain.

"Tell me, do you often undermine your superior officer? Or are you simply trying to impress someone?" she asked softly. She then turned to Rubi to answer the question put to her. "I suppose it may be an interesting experience.... Might be nice to have someone look at my hands... I am still scraping bits of La Fayette from under my nails...." she muttered nonchalantly.

A short while later they were at a rather decorated building, the two boys had agreed to go to the pub for a while before returning to the ship, while the girls were dragged along by Rubi to this odd place. One thing Shaede noticed was the lack of dress from some of the occupants. This alarmed her, was she expected to walk around in a towel as well??

"I shan't be getting undressed..." She muttered, noting one woman staring in horror as Shaede's bare feet. She would not bare herself before any of these petty beings, not to have them gawk at her scars and markings.

On her back there were black marks, a spiralling pattern that looked like tattoos, across her back and down around to her hips and up her shoulders, they were markings of her powers, the shadows made flesh....

The captain chuckled. "Don't worry too much about it. It'll just be us three. I'm purchasing a private service. The public thing is just cheaper."

Noire and Shae watched as Rubi talked to the receptionist, dropping fifty gold coins on the desk. One of the employees came out and provided them with white towels and simple but long hemmed kimonos coloured to match their eyes. So Noire got blue, Shae got silver, and light purple for Rubi. Afterwards, they were brought into the spa and to their very own room which had a Japanese feel as Noire looked around.

"We get three hours to ourselves, girls," Rubi declared as she began removing her attire and dropping it to the floor til she was buck naked.

Since it was just them, Noire wasn't bothered by the blatant lack of modesty. Her cousin seemed so...carefree, and Noire envied it a little. Slowly, she also began to strip, shyly removing the garments before quickly wrapping the towel around her as Rubi did the same. With a snap, Rubi slid open the rice paper panel and inhaled the moisture deeply. It was a small garden, but nonetheless beautiful, and the hot spring itself still looked plenty roomy to seat twenty people. Customers could choose to have a mixed bath, or divided bath, as there was a fence that went across the centre of the hotspring.

Noire was just letting her hair down when Rubi climbed into the pool, dipping down until only her head was above the water's surface. Already her cheeks began to flush before she found a nice rock to lay against. Hesitantly, Noire dipped her toe in. Pleased to find it warm, she slowly climbed in and sat in a corner, the black tendrils of her long hair floating on the surface like ink. The heat seeped into her, and already she felt pleasantly sleepy.

Meanwhile, Aidan and Leon sat in a pub that was a little nicer than the one Rubi had led La Fayette to. In Aidan's hand was a bottle of beer, and he swung it in a circle distractedly. It wasn't often these two were alone together, and frankly, they hardly spoke to one another. But now they had something of shared interest between them, though they had their own set of reasons. Shaede.

"What happened?" he asked. It was to the point, and surely Leon would give him the details so the pilot understood the reasoning. Usually Rubi made it a point to not kill anyone unless absolutely necessary, and obviously this had something to do with the newcomers.

Garrick watched and listened with amusement as Mael subtly brushed off her advance. "I have work to do. But, if you may, please escort Mr Ritter to his room." And with that he walked off to the bridge.

The young man stared at Avalynn, clicking his tongue. "Troubles in paradise?"

Shaede was hesitant at first, she was accustomed to being alone most of the time, and the only ones who had seen her disrobed had tried to hurt her, so naturally she felt vulnerable. She stepped into a private bathroom to undress, and after stripping was glad she did so. Her eyes widened as she noticed the markings. Once soley on her back had curled round to the front of her hips and were now extending down her arms! The black spiralling tendrils curved round her form and she wondered what it meant... Reinhart had stated that it was a direct link to her powers.... but what had changed?

She paused to think, La Fayette had been a spike in her power... she had never phased through flesh before. Once or twice through cloth but nothing substantial...

She pulled the towel on and the robe to cover herself fully. She was unsure if she should inform Noire or not. After all, she didnt want the girl to worry. She headed out to where the two Squire girls resided and slipped in. She still felt edgy... but at least the hot water was kind to her feet.

"Eri..." Shaede muttered as she slipped over to her friend, she ensured to speak quietly so as Rubi would not hear. "I have been thinking, I am willing to go on this hiest tomorrow night... to see what the crew are all about... and if they seem on the level... perhaps we should stay a while... after all, we have no where else to go." She shrugged her clothed shoulders, "though I will be negotiating for pay, lodgings and what not... what do you think?" She wanted to know Noire's opinion as they had not had much time to talk of late...

Leon sat, beer in one hand, cigarette in the other, he felt drained... he could have used a spa about now... he glanced at McKay as he asked what happened. The medic took a while to answer.

"He was... a financial aid to Ravenholm. They suffered because of him. And... Shae said something that... well... it sounded like... he... did things to her. Like the scientists gave her to him as a reward..." Leon sighed heavily, "she's... I'm meant to look out for her... and I failed. Gods, I've never seen anything like it... it's like, her hand passed straight through him... and then she ripped him apart. That place has changed everything about her... she used to be so gentle..." he was talking more than usual... but he was shaken, she should not have had to do that. He wishef he could have saved her. But what was done, was done. He could not change it, he simply had to be there for her in the future... not just for Shaede, for Noire too. Neither of them should have had to suffer that place.

===

Avalynn scowled as Mael brushed her off yet again. She was frustrated; what the hell did she have to do to make him see her?! It was like he looked right through her. She was glad neither of the men could see her face at that point...

She did however mask her disdain as she turned to look at Garrick.
"Oh, not at all," she smiled, "simply a game we play," shw smirked. "Your quarters are this way, Mr. Ritter..." she lead him down a corridor.

"So what of you?" She asked after a short stint, "do you like games?" She may as well have fun with someone... "i have a few bottles if you're interested in a drinking game?"

In the cold, disorderly lab... Hortencia 'Frost' Reinhart picked up the phone. Her hands shook, she swallowed, a bruise was forming on her cheek. She dialled the number.

"Prince Lao please.... yes. It's urgent," her voice shook. "Hello your highness... i have... mixed news. The good news is... Project Diablo has succeeded in some of its test subjects... the bad news... both Squire and McKillan have already been injected with the gene..."
