Leon had slept restlessly, while his nightmares of his sister's capture had tormented him, this night had eased slightly, though the anxiousness he felt when she left his sight began to eat at him. What if he lost her again? What if he had imagined it? He woke early, and ate alone before his nerves got the batter of him. He decided to go find his sister.

Heading up the metal stairway, he heard chatter, and quickened his pace, he heard the unmistakable voice of the Lady-Captain, and another softer voice answer her. Apparently they had just docked. Which was good, he was hoping to get some more medical supplies in the market... so long as the Captain did run in guns blazing like the Guren incident...

He heard Rubi ask where the other dark haired girl's friend was... Leon's heart jumped to his throat, she coul only mean Shae... did that mean they couldn't find her? No... surely not. Shae was clever, had always been, she would not go missing... not here... This was a safe place.. But it was obvious Shae cared for this girl she had escaped with. He felt a pang of guilt and jealousy... he should be the one she was close with... but he had failed her, and there was another in his place. Though in the same moment he felt thankful that Shae had someone at least... if she was alone... He dreaded to think what may have happened to her. Or what may have already happened. All because he couldn't save her --No. He could not allow himself to think that way. He could not change what had passed, he could only look to the future, and be there for her now...

He stepped up to the top platform, where Rubi and Noire were. Rubi addressed him cheerily, and he offered a gentle smile to them both,

"If Shae is anything like she was," Leon offered, "She will likely be somewhere high up..." She had always wanted to be climbing something as a child. running everywhere, climbing to the highest tree to see the world around her and dream of the sky above. He remembered whenever she was upset or worried, she would find the highest point in the house, either up a tree or on the roof, just looking up at the sky...

"It makes me calm," she told him, "I look up at the sky, because it is big and free... and one day I will fly up there. And that makes me happy,"

He wondered if she remembered her childhood dream, now that she was here.

Shaede remained on the 'roof' of the ship until they docked, though the did grab on to a rail while they did so, the whole ship shook slightly as the braces gripped to the side of the metal. She decided a tour of the ship would be good, her bare feet easily finding their way to a guard rail as she walked along it. She liked being barefoot, feeling the weight of the world around her. The coolness of the ships metal was steadying to her, she felt the ship still as the engine shut down. Suddenly the rumbling she was growing used to was silenced.

She looked over the city, seeing smoke billow from towers, hearing distant voices... and the smells were so exotic to her, rich food, motor oils and various... animals? It fascinated her and she longed for a closer look, but she would not leave Noire here alone. Well... relatively speaking.

And speaking of relatives... she heard Rubi's voice from just inside the cabin, she turned to see them exit just below the railing on which she stood.

"So..." she called down, "When does the party start?"

She had a good feeling, and she was keen to show these humans that she was not just some monster, she refused to be labelled as such again! She did not have to use her powers to get what she wanted.

Rubi looked up with her amethyst eyes, lips curling. "Tomorrow evening. If you two are in, there will be a briefing tonight at 1800 hours, sharp. Or you can simply listen in and decide then. But, in the meantime, we're taking this opportunity to do some maintenance on The Alice in case that storm did any damage. We don't want any unwelcome surprises. As for me, I'm going out for breakfast. Would you ladies like to join me? See the sights?"

Noire said nothing for a moment, and she looked up at Shaede to see what she thought about the idea. To be honest, she herself wouldn't mind going, but she didn't want to go anywhere without her most trusted friend. Before either of them could answer, Aidan walked out of the bridge with a yawn.

"I'm hitting the sack. Bring me back a full breakfast, will you Cap?"

A brow twitched at his request. "Get your own damned breakfast you sleepless git!" To add emphasis, Rubi smacked him upside the head as he walked passed.

"Ow!" Rubbing his head, he turned his tired gaze to the woman with a glare. "Give me a break. I stayed up all night!"

"Well, that's your own fault."

===

There was a rushing of propeller blades, wind gushing about as the Prince-General departed from his fleet ship followed by his soldiers. Looking up with acidic green eyes, he stared past the hangar roofs and to the towering spires of black marble, gold, and red stone. As he stared at his mother's palace, he was approached by a tall man in a black uniform and a red cape. His hair was long, wild, untamed and jet black, rebellious strands obscuring his face somewhat and he bore strong features and amber brown eyes.

"Ah," Lao began with recognition. "It's a pleasant surprise to see you here, Lieutenant-General. I thought you were stationed in Erebus."

The Lt. General spoke out with a voice just as strong as his appearance, expression impassive as he knelt to one knee in respect, "I was, Your Highness, but things are going well there. There is still some resistance, but otherwise, it's only a matter of time until that kingdom is won."

Lao smiled. "Very good. What news is there of my dear mother?"

His minion rose his bowed head. "She has been eagerly awaiting your return from Ravenholm."

"I'll just bet she is," Lao muttered with amusement, heading for the palace before his Lt. General followed closely behind him.

Shaede looked over the captain, she was still wary of the woman, as well as her brother.... she regretted weeping in front of him like a damned fool. She was far too emotional. She should--

A pain in her stomach reminded her that she had not eaten since the previous morning... That and she was ever so curious... She was about to open her mouth when the Pilot shuffled his way into the scene. Shaede raised an eyebrow and brought her foot forward, as though she were stepping onto an invisible deck, though there was nothing. She dropped down swiftly, like a cat, behind the pilot who had not yet noticed her. She hit the metal deck with a thud; her legs taking the most of the impact, dropping to a low crouch before standing gracefully.

"I think breakfast would be lovely, Captain," she said pleasantly, stepping forward, her bare feet making no sound on the metal plated deck. "I am also very curious about this place, I have heard rumours and gossip about it from inside, and I want to see if they are true."

Leon turned to the captain as well, "I also need to top up my supplies, I am running low on hipshoth and iodine." hipshoth was a rare ingredient; it was classed as a poison, even a small amount could be fatal. But diluted the correct way, it could be used to stop infections or even as a sleeping aid or relaxant.

===

The business man waved his arm to the papers before him;

"And that is why, your majesty, it would be a great asset to the kingdom to fund these orphanages,"

The monarch sitting in her ornate chair, sat forward, her face unreadable. Her Grey/green eyes narrowed as she looked upon this man, a pitiful man, a man who thought he knew so very much...

"Tell me, ser..." her melodic voice spoke slowly, "Why would you waste my time with this?"

The man faltered, "Y-your majesty?"

"I have no need for orphanages in my city, if these children are abandoned, why would anyone else want them?"

"Please, your highness, they are starving and helpless-!"

The Queen stood to full height, glaring at the man, "Why ought I help those who cannot help themselves? You wish a place for them? Then let them work! I need my nation run to full capacity, not the dregs of society dragging it down! This nation relies on my decisions, and it as a whole will benefit from these unwanted wretches... Put them in the workhouses." She turned, irritated by this man's high pitched voice, his attitude and the fact he had wasted so much of her valuable time.

"You can't!"

She stopped. And slowly turned back, her voice dropping to a low and dangerous tone as the man paled as white as a sheet.

"You dare, to tell me what I can and cannot do in my own kingdom?"

"Your Majesty, I--"

"Hang him."

"What?!" But he could not protest for long as two very tall guards stepped over and grabbed an arm each, he was gagged and a Hessian sack draped over his head.

"I do not abide traitors, telling me how I should and should not run this land... I am Queen, and I am Gaeos," The man was dragged away, kicking and screaming through his gag.

Queen Sinclaire tucked a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear. She was gaining a headache from the man's screeches... one of her messengers ran to her side suddenly;

"Your Majesty, your son has returned!" The Queen's mouth curved into a smile immediately, her bad mood disappearing.

"Then I had best greet him..." she replied, and headed down the hall to the main foyer.

Aidan jumped a foot off the metal grated floor, blinking owlishly at the sudden drop of the young woman. Rubi nearly laughed at him, but instead grinned, directing a smile at the pair of girls. "You two are in for a treat. This place is full of culture and plenty of good food. Come if you must, healer. And McKay, if you're hungry, get you're own food, you lazy git, but the ship is gonna need your attention."

The pilot sighed. "Yeah, alright."

Aidan glanced at Shaede for a moment, debating on whether to come or not. Sure, they had a civilized conversation last night, but maybe he should give her some space for a bit. Besides, it was Noire that scared him a little. Rubi just irritated him, but her young cousin was nothing like the captain. She seemed so...angry. He frowned slightly, having an idea why that was. Waving his hand, he bid them all to have a good time and left to do ship maintenance.

Together, the four of them left the ship, climbing down the rope ladder, and into a busy hangar. Noire's eyes widened in astonishment at the size. Metal panels were opening inside the gargantuan building, allowing other ships to fly in. Sparks could be seen everywhere as welders modified their own ships. As they reached the main doors to escape into the city itself, everyone was greeted with the bright light of the sun. Despite being so close to the large star, the city was surprisingly cool, but still comfortable.

Before them was an elaborate town of clockwork, copper, wood, and steam works. There was gold banners everywhere with silver insignias of what looked like wings. The buildings were very tall, and consisted of many bridges and pathways between them. In the streets were what looked like gypsies dancing and making music, people clapping along with the melody. Though the architecture itself looked busy, there was plenty of space to walk around without having to bump into someone. It even surprised Noire that there were tiny rivers with floating lanterns flowing beside the streets. Despite being called Fort Mecha, it seemed to have plenty of flowers and plant life thriving up here. As they walked through the town, there was even a large park with equally large weeping willow trees with jungle gyms fashioned into them for the children.

"So, what do you think of Fort Mecha?"

Sobering quickly, Noire pursed her lips. "It's okay."

Rubi laughed, pulling Noire over in a one armed hug. "Oh, don't be so modest. Admit it. This place is a very welcome sight."

Despite it being against her nature to do so, Noire smiled a little, too distracted by the scenery to care about the fact she was being touched by someone who was still technically a stranger to her. "Alright, it is pretty amazing."

Rubi released her, grinning. "Can you believe that this is just the low-class part of the city?" Noire arched her brow, and the captain nodded. "The city is quite a few miles wide, but it consists of multiple classes. On the outside is the great wall--y'know, to prevent people from flying off the city. Next is the industry ring, where all the factories and mechanisms to keep this place afloat is. The next ring is where we are now, where the poor live. Next is the middle class, then the high class, then military, and the centre is the heart of the city. It's where a power source is absorbed and where the council is. This place isn't just known for its ability to fly above the earth, but for its military."

"Obviously," Noire drawled. "It wouldn't be called Fort Mecha otherwise."

Rubi nodded. "But, little lesson aside, I promised you two some food. I'll take you someplace with great food and a great view. You two can get a better look at the city that way. You coming, doc?"

Lao entered the entrance hall, and upon seeing the queen, he knelt to one knee before her. The Lt. General mirrored this, but lowered his head. Sinclaire rose one of her hands as he took off his hat, more locks of red falling out with a slicked but slightly wild look. Taking her hand, he kissed it and she smiled with obvious affection.

"Hello, mother," he greeted.

"My dear, Lao. I was wondering when you'd come to visit. You're away so often."

Releasing the hand, he rose to his feet, and surprisingly, their tall heights were almost matched, but with Lao barely a few inches taller. "My apologies. I've been making plenty of stops in my rounds."

Her lips curled and she turned as he stepped forward, slipping her arm through his. "Come, I was about to have lunch. We have much to discuss."

Moments later, they were sitting together on a terrace, overlooking the ocean. The Lt. General stood near the terrace doors while servants stood by, waiting for their next order from either the Queen or Prince. Delicately, Sinclaire dabbed her red stained lips with a napkin while Lao removed his from his lap, dropping it on the table.

"So, tell me, son, what news do you bring me?" she asked, picking up a glass of red wine.

Leaning back in his chair, he bluntly responded, "Two subjects escaped from Ravenholm. Shaede McKillan and Noire Squire."

There was a shattering and clattering of glass and spilling of red wine as the Queen stared at her son with a mix of rage and shock. "What?!" The servants rushed to make a cleanup, but she waved them away impatiently. "Back, you buzzards! Just get me another glass."

Lao wasn't surprised by this display. His mother always had a short temper. So, casually, he added, "From my understanding, however, the Reinhardt siblings have made progress in their research. I've already ordered a search for the girls, as they are key."

Sinclaire wiped herself off, calming down a little, though a slight scowl remained. "Yes, I'm quite aware of those two girls. One of shadow, and one of claws. Together, they'd make a fearsome beast. What about the research though?"

"No successes as of yet, but they're getting closer with each subject. I've even sent my own soldiers who have...volunteered to further their progress. However, I've had them dispose of most of them, so they need more research subjects."

"I see," she said as another glass was brought for her. "Who do you plan to send them?"

"Someone stronger. But for now, the keys to their research take priority."

"Indeed. Do what you must, my son. The future rides on Project Diablo's success."

Shaede smirked as she saw Aidan jump, pleased to note she had not lost her touch. After a few weeks in lockdown and a few days of freedom, she had worried her abilities may have been dampened somewhat. She was glad to see this was not the case. She eyed the pilot for a few moments before walking to join Noire and the others. Something in the back of her mind suggested that she linger, but it was a fleeting thought, as the call of the city bade her to see it.

Leon took a moment to tend to him gentlemanly duties, offering a hand to the ladies as they stepped off the rope. He could not help but smile at the wide-eyed looks the two girls bore at the sight of such mechanical magnificence. Shae he remembered as always enjoying anything of an intricate mechanical nature. She had seen a glass pocket watch once, of which she had oggled over every time they had passed the shop, but their parents had not been able to afford such luxuries...

"I want one..." Shaede murmured as she watched a sleek small-sized ship come in for landing. It bore bore a symbol that looked like an orange sun, with strange characters in it, and the word 'serenity' across the middle. She tried not to oggle, but the sight was unlike anything she had ever seen. The scale of everything was ridiculous. While Ravenholm was indeed a large facility, it was nothing like this...

Further into the city she was still in awe, she could see children playing, and people smiling, the incorporation with nature as well as the brass, copper, and steel made her smile. It was good to see real things still had a place in this world of machines. She followed Noire and half-listened to the conversation they were having, she was still gawking at everything around her, though she did try to be subtle... it would not do for her to look like an ignorant tourist.

"Amazing isn't it?" Leon muttered as he fell in step beside his sister. "I still get blown away whenever I come here"

"You've been here before, then?" Shaede asked curiously.

"Only a few times," he smiled, Shaede simply nodded and continued following the Squire girls.

Rubi was still talking to Noire and they caught up for the end of the conversation, "But, little lesson aside, I promised you two some food. I'll take you some place with great food and a great view. You two can get a better look at the city that way. You coming, doc?"

"I think I shall," he stated, and followed a few steps behind them.

"I am curious about this place," Shaede murmured, "Who runs it?" She was about to speak again when she spied something that caught her eye.

A man, dressed in green and gold, standing further up the road and haggling with a merchant. Her brow furrowed, the pompous and greedy man was familiar to her eyes,

"Noire," she hissed quietly, "It's La Fayette," Jaques La Fayette had toured Ravenholm once before, he was an incredibly rich man, and they had begged him for funding. Which he gave. The massive machine that had drilled them both so full of needles was a direct result of his... donations. What was worse was he knew the two girls by name. If he saw them, he could contact Frost and Reinhart... And there was no way she was going back. "we have to kill him,"

"What?!" Leon hissed,

"He knows us, if he catches a glimpse of us, we are dead or worse." Shaede glared at her brother. He seemed a little stunned that his baby sister was able to claim to take a life so easily. It was unsettling, but... that is what they had done to her.

"Are you sure he knows you?" Leon muttered, Shaede just nodded.

==

As the queen and her son spoke on the balcony, but were interrupted by approaching footsteps. A young woman entered the area with a small smirk on her bubblegum pink lips, vivid green eyes sparked as she laid eyes on the two, her vibrant red hair flowed behind her as she walked.

"Ah, there you are." She chirped. "Lao, it's been too long," She grinned as she leant on the back of one of the high chairs. Avalynn was an agent like no other, she could sneak in and out of places unlike any other soldier at their disposal, she was practically family, growing up alongside Lao, in fact, with her red hair she looked like she could be. At least she acted like it, she was incredibly comfortable at the palace, and she was the daughter Sinclaire never had, and one of the Queens favourites.

The Captain stared at the man in question. Yes, she had heard of La Fayette. One of the richest men in all of Gaeos. Not the richest, as that title belonged to royalty, but he was certainly up there. "Now, let's not be too hasty. In here," she said, leading the other three into a nearby alley before she peered around the corner at the man. "What's the story?"

"He's a sponsor for Ravenholm," Noire explained. "He showed up one day for a tour and they grovelled at his feet, begging for funding, and he gave plenty of that."

The girl snarled, her eyes flashing as fingers clenched outwards, blackening into her hardened claws. That bastard, she hissed inwardly. It's because of him that they suffered worse than ever. Not only that, but he had given them both the lecherous eye. Men. She hated them. With an animalistic growl, she went to charge out of the alley and towards her prey. Her arm was suddenly caught and she was thrust against the wall while Rubi towered over her. This only pissed Noire off even more but Rubi seemed relatively calm.

"If you kill him out in the open, your notoriety will only go up. If you want to kill him, then I suggest we do this smart. It's better if he doesn't see either of you at all. That includes keeping your gifts in check. I've got a plan, though." Releasing her slightly calmed down cousin, Rubi turned to Leon. "I'm gonna buy him a drink and make him think he's gonna get lucky. So, if you please, doc. Remember that warehouse with the very loud machinery and nice dark basement? Take the girls there. It'll take me twenty minutes, tops, to lead our fat friend." Seeing his expression, she frowned. "If you don't got the stomach for this, then why are you here? You knew this venture would be the death of a lot of bad people. He's one of them."

===

Lao paused while lifting wine to his lips, glancing over at his adopted sister. He closed his eyes, taking a small drink before setting the glass down. "Avalynn," he acknowledged. "Mother, I just thought of something."

"Hm?"

"Perhaps I should construct an elite team to seek out those two. After all, finding fugitives who are the best of the best, should be sought out by the best of the best."

Sinclaire smirked with amusement. "Who did have in mind?"

Lao smiled. "I have an idea of who would be perfect for this mission."

Moments later, he was strolling down the large corridors with his Lt. General walking alongside him. There were large painted portraits of the great family, framed with silk curtains. The floors were so shiny, that Lao could almost see a coherent reflection of himself. It wasn't until the end of the hall that he stopped walking, staring up at a portrait of a woman with black hair, porcelain skin and vibrant amethyst eyes. Her dress was black, simple, elegant, and she sat perfectly upon a fancy chair. She held no expression, but her eyes spoke of wisdom.

"Drakonya, the Queen of Gaeos and master warrior," Lao declared mostly to himself. "Her only match was her sister, Sinclaire." He turned to his servant. "Nobody knows exactly how their legendary battle ended. Tell me, Mael, what do you think happened?"

The Lt. General, Mael, looked up at the painting. "I can only speculate that Her Majesty had won, since she is alive and Drakonya is not."

"Indeed," Lao agreed. "All we can do is speculate." Staring up at it again, he said, "I would like for you to be on this team I'm assembling together. You are my right-hand, and I can't trust anyone else to run the team. You're level-headed, intelligent, and powerful."

Mael bowed slightly, a hand over his left breast. "I would be honoured, sire."

After a moment, Lao turned to Mael then sighed. "I would also like to make an addition. Avalynn, you can come out now." Sneaky or not, nothing got past Lao.

Shaede grit her teeth, she was not happy about leaving him in the hands of another, and though she agreed with Rubi's point... she was struggling again with her inner instinct to launch herself over there, and slice his throat from ear to ear.

"We must avoid detection," Shaede agreed, nodding to Noire... "So long as you leave me a piece... I will be happy," she smirked, she was going to leave nothing left of him that anyone would recognise.

"I know the place," Leon added as Rubi spoke to him, then nodded as she chastised him, "Apologies... I am not used to... the last time I saw Shaede she was a little girl... it's hard to think she would have to kill... I had wanted to protect her from such things," he said guiltily.

"But you didn't," Shaede snapped harshly, though the look that crossed his face at her words, of guilt and grief. Shaede felt a pang of regret.... but what was said could not be taken back.

"You are right of course," He stated, "I am no stranger to bloodshed," indeed, he had killed many in his quest to find her again. But it was not a life he wished for his sweet sister, he hated that she had been dragged into such a dark world. "But if that man was the cause for any pain to either of you, I would gladly slit his throat myself," he looks between the two girls, his gaze firm, showing he meant his words. He would protect Shaede at all costs, and if Noire was as close a friend as Shaede claimed, then he would do the same for her too. "Come, I will take you to the warehouse, I know a back entrance." He gestured for them to follow, and with a nod to Rubi, headed down an alley to their left, the warehouse was not far.

Shae followed swiftly behind.

===

Avalynn grinned as Lao spoke of a team, oh how she loved special assignments... and how upset she would be if he didn't ask her along. She stayed a moment to speak with Sinclaire,

"You have grown into a fine woman, my Lady Avalynn," Sinclaire smiled sweetly, "Have you thought about taking a suitor little one?"

"Oh are you still on about that, mother?" she teased playfully. The Queen had hinted before about setting Lao and Avalynn up before... Avalynn suspected Sinclaire simply wanted grandchildren to fawn over. Sinclaire just laughed and Avalynn bode her good day, she decided to sneak off to find her 'brother'

He was talking to Lt. General Mael, whisle browsing the gallery of portraits, his aunt stood among them, her eyes seemed to hauntingly stare at them beyond the painted strokes of the canvas. She lingered by the corner until he called out to her...

"Oh, you always seem to ruin my fun," she chuckled as she approached. "I do hope you shall invite me to this party of yours... I shall be incredibly put out if you don't," She folded her arms, sticking her hip out as she stopped in front of the prince. She walked her finger's up his chest, playfully, "Because you know I am the best... and you know if you want results, I am your best option," she looked at Mael with a smile, "No offense, Mael.... you're good, but I have womanly charms that can make you melt," she was of course joking with him, and he would know that, she did so love to flirt with him, to make him uncomfortable. She did so with Lao as well. All in good fun.

Lao almost smirked before catching her hand. He was always cold, but he toned that down a notch whenever it involved his mother or sister. "I wouldn't dream of it, dear sister. After all, who else could match the stealthy skill of Shaede MacKillan?" Releasing her, he turned back to the painting. "However, despite your skills, you are not enough. You will need another in your little group."

Mael's expression didn't change in the least. "Who is that, my lord?"

Lao turned to them with a knowing smile. "Garrick Ritter." He saw recognition in Mael's eyes. "Something the matter, Mael?"

"Do you think it wise to employ someone who is completely erratic? He does not care for royalty or the resistance. Only himself and vengeance."

"Mael, you worry too much. He still believes in money. Besides," he said, pacing away a few steps and stopping, looking over his shoulder, "Even you two combined are not a match for those two girls. Shaede is probably the stealthiest being in the world. The shadows are her garden and playground. She was trained to be a soldier. And like her, Noire Squire is just as deadly. When her claws come out, she is a force to be reckoned with, and her fury makes it almost impossible to overpower her. Not only that, those claws of hers can even tear through at least three inches of thick steel. Imagine how easy it is for her to tear through flesh." He chuckled darkly, looking away from them. "Together, they make a deadly force, taking advantage of each other's strengths and reinforcing their weaknesses. However, against the three of you, they will meet their match. But, keep in mind, I want them alive. Seek out Mr. Ritter, give him whatever he wants for his services. Once you've accomplished that, bring those girls back."

Mael bowed again. "Yes, my lord."

===

Rubi watched as the girls were led away. Tossing a vial in the air and catching it, she strolled out of the alley, heading straight for the sponsor. As she listened to the conversation, she arched a brow at the man's lack of haggling skills. Pitiful, just pitiful. She took off her coat and sighed, reaching into the stand and picking up one of the items on sale. When La Fayette looked over, she peered at him from the corner of her eye and smiled ever so charmingly. Looking away again, she put down the item.

Avalynn grinned playfully at her 'brother' before stepping back, as usual he would not take the bait... and Mael completely ignored her... again. She gave a slight frown before turning back to Lao for his next words, which caught her by surprise. After all she had heard of Garrick Ritter, but never met him.

It seemed that Mael had however, and despite his usual emotionless face, his tone indicated disdain. Avalyn had to smile however, being on a private mission with Mael? Well... that sounded like fun. She had been teasing him for a long time, trying to find a crack in his veneer. So far it had not yielded a result.

Lao insisted they go find him and then the three would be able to defeat the mutants... wait... three?

"You mean you're not coming?" Avalynn scoffed, "You're stuck up here too much being lazy!" She laughed, "You forgt how to handle a weapon?" she could not linger as Mael was already off down the hallway. Avalynn flicked her red hair aside and smiled, "Until later then," she turned and sauntered down the hall after Mael.

"This should be fun," she chirped upon reaching him, "Perhaps we'll even get some time alone?" she winked at him, she hoped for a reaction... something... but as usual, he more or less ignored her.

She looked him over, thick dark hair, piercing eyes, a stern mouth, strong jaw... She had known him for years, and whilst she had just been playful over the years, and in the beginning had just been in it for the fun... something tragically foolish happened... she fell in love with him. And despite any or all advances, subtle or obvious, he paid no heed. She longed for him to one day snap, pin her to the wall and have his way with her while whispering sweet things in her ear. But she feared it would never happen. She had tried to ignore him, to pretend it didn't matter, but no matter what she did... all she could think about was him. Even when she found another to share her bed to fend off the misery in her mind, it was always him. She would always pretend it was him, if she could not have him, she would have to make believe.

The worst part was, she couldn't tell him. He'd never believe her, he'd laugh at her and turn her away for good... at least this way, she could still see him.

Jaques La Fayette was browsing one of the perfume stalls, eagerly hoping to meet a woman he could take home with him, they seemed to love all the trinkets and pretty things that were apart of this cart. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a copper-haired woman approach. He smirked, new prey.
He glanced at her and noticed she had been looking back at him, she smiled and her felt the blood begin to flow within him. He looked her over and smiled widely, oh yes, she was perfect.

"Good morning, fair Lady," he crooned, "And may I say, you are indeed fair," he turned to face her and bowed his head. "My name is Jaques, Lord in the Seventh ring, and wealthiest of them," e chuckled, "What is your name sweet maiden?" he took her hand to kiss the back of it gently.

Mael paid Avalynn no mind, but was well aware that she shadowed his footsteps. "If you have things to pack, my lady, then now would be the time. We will depart within the hour. I expect the trip to be very long and we will be taking one of the scout ships." He stopped to look at her impassively. "Is there anything you require upon the ship before takeoff?"

===

The Captain smirked flirtatiously, not failing to flaunt her upper assets, her shirt undone just enough. She may have dressed like a man, especially now, but she knew how to express her femininity through body language. Hell, she was taller than him...and much skinnier. Her appearance was quite exotic compared to most women, giving her the darker skin and light orange hair. Most women kept their hair long, but she made her's short, choppy, and messy. By most standard's she was gorgeous, and being a pirate, she would take advantage of that. She didn't even flinch as La Fayette kissed her hand, even if he disgusted her. This man had something to do with her cousin's suffering, and he would not leave her sight alive.

Making an amused sound, she smiled, speaking with that mixed accent of British and Italian that also contributed to her exotic allure, "Well, aren't you the charmer? You can call me Rubi."

Avalynn's smirk reappeared, as he asked if there is anything she wanted. She could think of a few somethings...

"Yeah, you; in my cabin. Naked," she grinned, "And an open bar." she wondered if she managed to get him drunk, maybe he would give in...

She already knew what she needed, her things were in her room, all she would have to do was pack them, she didn't need much... though... she would need some sexy undergarments. Just in case.

===

La Fayette smirked, it was working perfectly! And oh... such glorious assets she had! His hands itched to roam her luscious curves. Oh he would be good to her... he did so love the female form. Oh and her voice! He already longed to make it purr...

Heat began to grow in his nethers, this woman was intoxicating!

"Rubi..." he repeated, "What a beautifully fitting name, I believe you ought to be draped in rubies, to befit your name. Why, I daresay, you have taken my breath away my dear Lady..." He kept ahold of her hand and smiled, running his thumb over it. "Might I be so bold as to ask to take you for a drink?"

Rubi chuckled. Perfect, he was already gushing over her. "Hm, why not? I'm not one to turn down a gentleman."

They've only spoken for two minutes and already she had him wrapped around her finger. Clearly, this man was an idiot, and she just knew he was smitten. Small fry like this one was always easy pickings. As they walked away to the nearest pub, she slipped a hand into the crook of his arm. They both stepped inside a decent and hearty establishment where the patrons were singing drunkenly to a pianist and accordion player. Calmly, she walked over to a dark corner, sitting at the table, putting her coat aside.

When La Fayette sat next to her, a waitress walked over, greeting them cheerfully, "Welcome! What can I get for you folks?"

Rubi smiled at the waitress. "I'll have a cold beer. Also, a bowl of cherries." The waitress nodded, and when she took the short man's order, she wandered off to fill the order. The she-pirate turned her light eyes to him, leaning on the table, putting emphasis on the crease between her assets. "I must say, you impress me. Most men are intimidated by me." She sighed wistfully. "It's a shame too, because I'm really a nice girl who can show someone a good time."

===

Mael just stared at her blankly, then turned away. "That would be inappropriate. Please keep your mind on the mission at hand. His Majesty will not except failure, even from us. I will, however, arrange to bring crates of expensive liquor aboard." With that, he walked away to ready the ship.

La Fayette was grinning from ear to ear, oh how he wished he could skip the formalities and drink her up right here... She was beautiful.

When the waitress approached, he barely looked at her, ordering a beer for himself as well, his gaze lingered on her chest as she seemed welcome to the attention. Lusty thoughts filled his mind, he planned to treat her like a princess when he got her to bed.

Her comment about having a good time only excited him further.

"Oh my sweet Rubi," he charmed, "If any man is intimidated it is because your radiance outshines any other common gem in this floating fortress." he smiled wider, "Good time eh? And what might that entail? I have a few ways of showing a 'good time' myself."

Oh this was perfect! She wanted him, but then of course he was irresistible... his flaunt of wealth saw to that.

===

Avalynn frowned, how was it inappropriate? In fact, if he gave in, she might be able to concentrate more-so on her mission!! The man drove her mad... Why could he not give in for once? Surely he knew by now she wasn't joking?

The flaming haired woman stalked back to her room to collect her things. Soon they would be in a small space together... for a long time... maybe then he would succumb to her advances.

"Oh, you flatter me, good sir," she gushed with ease. When he boasted about his abilities, she merely thought, Oh, I'm sure you have.

At this rate, she may not even need Leon's drug. While Aidan was the lady-charmer of her crew, she was easily the man-handler, particularly of the weak-minded and greedy. She leaned back casually, putting up her booted feet, crossing one ankle over the other as the waitress returned. Now that they both had their drinks and the bowl of cherries, she picked up the glass mug, tilting back the glass and chugging down half the pint with ease while droplets of condensation fell from the glass, and onto the bare skin of her chest. Putting down her half-finished drink, she plucked one of the cherries from the bowl by the stem. Experimentally, she dipped the cherry into his beer slowly, then brought the dripping fruit to her mouth, sucking on it thoughtfully while watching him practically pant. With a quiet snap, she pulled off the stem and dropped it onto the table. Deciding, why not flourish a bit, she licked her lips clean.

She sighed. "Boy, it's rather hot in here. You don't mind, do you?" she asked as she popped open one more button, revealing a little more to him.

Jaques was trying hard to keep himself under control. This woman was teasing him! His hands itched to grab hold of her and drag her to his home... that's if he even got that far...

"My dear Lady," he managed, "you do know how to light the flames of desire... I... must admit, if you continue to tease me in such a manner, I should lose control of myself." He panted, his mouth suddenly so dry he had to take a large gulp of his drink.

"Forgive me for being so forward," he muttered, "but is there perhaps a chance I can invite you to my home to get to know each other in a more... intimate setting?"
