Her eyes showed a sign of recognition but it was only for a single instant. McKillan, huh? So this is Shaede's brother. Like Noire, she knew that Shae had doubts about her own family. She couldn't readily tell this guy she was on the ship. However, she would inform her companion of this...human.

"She's fine," was all she said. That answered one question he might have had about the possibility that they knew each other. She took another sip, eyes firmly planted on him. "If that's all, human...go away." Once again, rude.

Leon sighed, relieved, this girl knew her, this tiny piece of information was enough for him, he smiled, feeling quite weary.

“Thank you Miss,” he said politely, “I shall return to my work,” he gave a short respectful bow again, and moved along the room to check the engine temperatures. He wanted to ask the young woman more questions, but did not wand to impede on her space. The way she called him human bothered him slightly, but then perhaps he could prove his trustworthiness. After he had checked the engines, he contemplated telling her… but then, would she believe him?

He frowned, lost in thought, and grew careless, he moved too closely to one of the boilers, he knew they spat, but was distracted, hot scalding oil spat out and splashed on his arm. He grunted in pain, his skin blistering immediately. He grabbed a towel and dabbed the oil off, as wiping would tear his weakened flesh. It seemed not to matter as he began to bleed somewhat, he groaned, and held his hand over the wound.

Green tendrils, seemingly made of light extended from him hand and danced over his skin, his breathing returned to normal after a few moments, and as he wiped his arm, the wound was gone… perhaps he need not tell the woman now, she would have seen everything.

The dim light had caught her eye and she watched, eyes flashing with shock as his skin healed. He wasn't human after all. Interesting. Slowly, she stood up, marched over to him then grabbed his arm with a transformed claw to keep him from escaping, though she was careful in how she handled him. All that to get a closer look. The wound was completely healed. Fascinating.

She released him, staring at his face intently. Suddenly she turned around and started to walk out, grabbing the bottle. "Wait here," she demanded before leaving for Rubi's room. It was there she found Shae lying on the bed. "Shae...I just met someone named Leon."

Leon was confused by the girl, but he did not fight her as she grabbed his arm. He was alarmed however when she left the room, what was she doing? Where was she going? Had he offended her? Though, he could not help but notice how pretty she was as she walked, she had a confident stride, and a firm step, was she as confident as she portrayed? Yes, she was beautiful.

Shae had intended to see the captain about plans, and had just laid down for a minute, sleep was threatening to take her, and she was nearly going to give in to it when she heard Noire’s voice again. Her eyes snapped open and she sat up quickly, she froze however when her friend said Leon’s name.

She’d not seen her brother in over a decade, not since she was eight years old.
“you…?” she stood, “What did he look like? What did he say?” it couldn’t be her brother, on this ship? Her big brother? No, it couldn’t be, he’d let her be taken… he… but she remembered the way he screamed, and tried to fight the soldiers that cane to collect her, she remembered that he had chased them, but they had lost sight of him… Did her brother care? Then why had he not come for her?

Noire's face was impassive, eyes glowing in the darkness of the room, lit only by orange glow lamps and the moonlight shining through the window. "He claimed to have to same last name as you. I did not tell him where you were. It seems he's...like us in a way though. He is waiting, as I demanded, in the boiler room, though I didn't make my intentions known. He merely asked if you were safe."

She crossed her arms, pondering the man that claimed to be her friend's brother. He certainly had a warmth about him that intrigued her. However, that impression may have only been caused by the evidence she witnessed. Healers were naturally...well, kind and warmhearted. Didn't mean they weren't naive and stupid. Human or not, relative or not...either way, she rarely trusted anyone. Well, he wasn't bad to look at, at least.

“Take me to him,” she whispered, standing, how could he be here? She was so excited to see him, it was stupid, but… she missed him, she missed him so much. But… it was foolish, he could not be the same boy, it had to be coincidence, there was no way that he could be..

As she followed Noire, her mind ran at a million miles a minute, expecting him to be dismissive, or horrified… but if he was like her… but how? He’d never shown signs of powers… she hadn’t seen him do anything—

There he was… he was different, but the same. Older, but… as their eyes met, it was like they were children once more. Still young and innocent, in the days before Ravenholm.

“Leon…” she whispered, tears fell from her eyes, even though she’d not cried in years.
Leon ran, cradling his baby sister in his arms to protect her, he held her tightly, and kissed the top of her head.

“Shae… I’m sorry I’m so sorry. I tried, I tried sis, I really did I’m sorry it wasn’t enough, I failed you..”

Shae just shook, hiding her face as she wept.

The sight was hardly foreign to Noire, but somehow it seemed surreal. Comparing them together, they really did resemble one another. She was happy for Shae, she really was, but something about the idea of reunion made Noire sick...physically sick. Maybe it was the alcohol or something. She needed to lie down. Leaving them alone, she left for the bedroom and fell onto the bed in a curled heap. Sleep barely consumed her.

Shae and Leon stayed in an embrace for a while, until finally Shaede’s tears stopped, and her breathing returned to normal,

“I’m… sorry…” she murmured, “I did not want you to see me like this,”

“It doesn’t matter Shae, it’s alright that place must have been horrible… I can’t imagine—“

“No… you really can’t.” it came out harsher than she had intended, “Sorry,”

“It’s alright, little sister, but, are you alright now? As things go, I suppose we never really will be… but, you know what I mean.”

“As things go? Yes, I think I am alright.” She nodded, she then noticed Noire had gone, and Shaede became concerned, she should check on her friend. “I will return later, to talk… I just want to check on Noire…” she muttered. Leon leant in and gave her a kiss on the forehead,

“I’ll be here…”

And with that Shaede hurried upstairs, feeling light on her feet, and slightly dizzy. Returning to the room, she saw Noire on the bed. She took a seat beside her, stroking her hair.

“Are you alright, hun?”

Noire opened her exhausted eyes. Somehow all the sleepless nights in that facility seemed to catch up with her. Shae was the only one she truly trusted, and the sisterly gesture her friend gave her was comforting. She had to be honest with that friend.

"Part of me feels jealousy," she whispered in response. "How wicked of me to feel that way. He's your brother. I have my cousin but...even I don't trust her. You know how difficult it is to trust someone. Though, your brother seems very kind. I'm glad you two found each other." She smiled softly, finally looking at Shae. "Still, it's nothing personal when I say that seeing such a reunion makes me sick. I think part of it is because before you...I felt like I couldn't trust anyone. I strictly believed in the fact that family didn't mean a damn thing. I'm rambling..." she muttered suddenly. "However, I saw in his eyes that he'd been searching for you for a long time. I'll apologize later to him for being rude."

She closed her eyes again, whispering sleepily, "Go make up for lost time. I'm fine here. I'm just overly tired."

Shaede brushed her friend’s hair with her fingers for a few moments,

“I understand,” she said sympathetically, “Part of my mind thought you might forget me for the sake of your cousin. She seems well-minded in this, I cannot sense anything dishonest about her… It was foolish of me to think that, I know full well you are here for me… You are my sister Noire.” She smiled warmly and leant down to give her friend a comforting hug. She did not know what else she could say, there still seemed to be something there… was she really just tired? Shaede couldn’t be sure. But she did know she did not want to sleep.

Shaede tucked Noire in gently, smoothing the covers over her. She left the room and headed down the hall, hearing talking coming from the bridge. She headed up there for the moment, she paused to listen to the conversastion before stepping into the room.

Aidan and Rubi were talking as the former resumed his post to pilot the ship. He had a new change of clothes since his other ones were in his room being hung to dry. His back was straight and even tense as he spoke seriously with Rubi.

"I don't want to talk about it."

Rubi gave him a stern look. "I've been avoiding the subject till now, but those thunderstorms are becoming more and more frequent. I just want to know what's causing them since you're so sure that they aren't natural clouds."

Aidan growled, tightening his grip on the helm. "I told you to butt out. It's my personal business and I'll handle it my way."

"Your way is standing on top of the ship, risking your life by nearly getting blown to pieces by green lightning? You're the god damn pilot, I expect all my crew members to be straight with me! The next time this happens, I expect a god damn explanation, or you can be expected to have me boot you off the Alice!"

Aidan's face was hard, as if he was battling an inner struggle to keep from arguing further in rage. Not trusting himself to speak, he merely grunted, avoiding meeting the Captain's eyes. Satisfied with his answer for the time being, Rubi walked off the bridge and through the doorway, barely catching a glimpse of Shaede.

"Ah, hello. How are you faring so far on dear Alice? And how's my cousin doing?"

Shaede was in a mix of complications, she didn’t know if she could face her brother again without crying… damn it, she knew she should not trust him, or be so open… she steeled herself and covered her emotions, she did not have time to deal with this… these people… she should not be so reckless. Yes they were free, but for how long? Was this Rubi going to get them into trouble? Get them caught? She had to be smarter about this.

When the Captain spoke, Shaede looked up,

“She is sleeping again, she needs her rest.” The raven haired girl replied solemnly. “But I would like some information, if you would.” She asked, leaning against the wall, “What is this mission of yours? Will Noire and I be involved? I want to know the plan,” she stated, her powers let her blind her enemies, she would not tag along like a foolish child without foresight. She needed to know what was to come… and if she could help… the urge to fight was rising in her, this emotional nonsense was difficult to suffocate… she needed an outlet. Though she did not like to act the monster… she needed to hurt something…

Rubi just stood there, back straight. Even if someone was good at reading people, one could never read from this Captain. She turned to face the darkling, hands on her hips, face blank. Perhaps she herself was trying to read the girl, but her eyes told Shaede nothing.

"Let me tell you something, sweetheart. I've got no intention nor desire to use any inhuman talents. If you wish to help, fine, but otherwise, I'd rather you sit back and relax so that we can handle things. I've got one request though, keep a low profile on the whole powers thing. They're making a technology that'll detect that sort of thing if not kept in check."

Rubi started pacing, slightly agitated, the hum of the ship filling the silence between them. "The whole idea behind this operation was so that I could find my cousin and blow apart the place that took her. She and I only had each other when we were kids. I didn't care, and still don't, about what she is. Is it her fault for being born with it? Her own parents hated that, and even called her a devil spawn, the fools. They're dead now, so it doesn't matter. I still plan on going to Ravenholm. No one deserves to go to such a place, even if they aren't normal. Honestly, nobody knows the true meaning of normal."

She sighed, taking a moment to collect her thoughts. "I understand people like you and Noire have no reason to trust us judgemental humans. Greedy creatures we are. That's why I haven't pushed anything on either of you. You're welcome to join us on any endeavor, but I won't lie, the missions beforehand will be dangerous. We might have a few run ins with the army, including the Prince-General."

She stretched, breaking the ominous mood. "But!" Yawn. "We're on our way to Mecha to crash a party to get rich. Got to steal from the rich to fund these poor hapless bastards I call my crew. That and feed them. It'll be impossible to beat the corrupt army with this ship alone as well. Alice has pulled through some tight spots, but she can only take so much. Anyway, if that's all, I need to get some shut eye. 'Night."

And so she walked off casually, leaving Shaede with her thoughts.

Shaede wrinkled her nose slightly at the captain's words as she watched the older woman go, what was the point of having powers if she could not use them? She was proficient in weaponry... so any pistols or rifles, swords or crossbows would be something she could handle... She had spent her first two days of freedom in turmoil, emotionally and physically. She had to calm herself.

She took the door to her right and headed out on deck, looking around her in the moonlight she could see there were a few crew members working, but most had gone back to bed after the 'storm'.
Shaede began to think about it... Aidan had been personally upset when it came to mentioning the other man who could create storms... She almost felt bitter... why was she chosen and he was left? Even though it was awful to wish on someone... Why was it fair? Why did she have to live the life of a prisoner and others could go free?

She sighed and turned, deciding she would feel better higher up. She lifted herself up and climbed up onto the railing and onto the top of the ship. She looked out at the world around her, and felt calm still her thoughts again. She took a deep breath, and closed her eyes, letting it out slowly. She had begun meditation while in the Facility, it took her far from where she was, and she could rest, without actually sleeping.

She knew she should see her brother, speak to him, but seeing him left her feeling raw. She didn't want to ask the burning questions; why was she taken? Why didn't he look for her? Did her parents even miss her? She let the darkness consume her, breathing in and out again, in shadows she was safe, noone could see her, and noone could touch her. She was free in her own little cocoon...

Freedom. Something she had longed for... but this was not what she expected when she dreamed of going home. She dreamed of a happy family, and sunshine and rainbows... it was a child's dream. Often crushed by the dark reality she had to face. Noone was coming. And so, she would do it all herself.

She relied on herself most of the time, not able to trust that anyone would look for her best interests. She was always on her own... well... except for Noire. A girl she now regarded as her little sister. She would do anything to protect Noire, the girl was there for her at a time when noone else was. And Shaede would always be forever grateful.

Light spilled through the clouds suddenly, and Shaede opened her eyes, it was dawn already? How long had she been out here?? She could see, in the distance, black smoke and a formation that was clearly not natural; a floating city in the sky... Mecha.

Rubi walked aboard the bridge to find that Aidan was still there. Frankly, she wasn't the least bit surprised by his presence. It was a habit he had whenever those sorts of storms came to greet them. It was a caution he had, but occasionally she found his wariness unhealthy, 'specially since he neglected his sleep. They had only talked hours before, but she thought it pointless to order him to sleep. He would anyway, come morning. As she stepped closer, fully clothed, coats, boots, and all, she noticed the bags under his eyes. For now, she directed her attention towards the floating civilization of industrial genius.

"Ah, about time. Get us docked and rent a couple of days for The Alice here."

Aidan turned his slightly glazed eyes towards his captain. "We're really staying that long? I thought this was going to be an in-and-out operation."

"Was," she confirmed. "Those two have been imprisoned for nearly two decades. I imagine they'll want to explore the cultural side of Mecha. Besides," she began nonchalantly, "I want to review the plan with them if they wish to join in the fun. Also, we go here sooner than expected. The party isn't until tomorrow evening. Once we snatch the goods, we'll be taking a quick getaway."

The pilot said nothing for a moment as he looked at her in disapproval. "You realize the authorities might catch us before we even get away. They've got speed ships with big guns."

"And I told you that you'd be working around that. Didn't I?" she asked, arching a brow as she waited for his response.

Heavily, he sighed. "You're a pain in my arse."

"Just dock the ship, stupid."

Meanwhile, Noire woke with a start from her internal clock. It was a habit ingrained in her from Ravenholm. All the residents had to wake at a certain time. It didn't matter how much sleep they had, the habit would remain and she would wake without prompting. Growling to herself, she removed the blanket, her hair already a mess of tangles from a restless slumber. Sighing, she took a shower, the temperature on the hottest degree she could stand. It was almost scalding, and most would have yelped and jumped out immediately, but to her, it was a welcoming embrace. It drove away the memory of having been dipped in a tank of ice water, a torture method used on her as a way to instill obedience. Regardless, she had remained rebellious. Still, the shadow of that particular part of her past had mentally scarred her.

Just as she had climbed out of the shower, there was slight turbulence as the ship was docked in the city's hangar, and on reflex, a clawed hand reached out to hold onto the nearest object, being the shower door. Black pointed digits pierced through the glass and crushed the copper framing, tiny shards falling to the floor. As the ship calmed, she stared at the damage, looking unconcerned by what she had done. Drying and dressing, she combed out her hair but left it down as it dried, leaving the room after slipping on her boots. The first place she left for was the bridge, not really sure where else to go to find out what the hell was going on.

Rubi was just walking out when she spotted her cousin, beaming at the raven-haired girl. "Ah! Good morning, Noire! Sleep well?"

She shrugged. "What's going on?"

"We just docked at Fort Mecha. Where's your friend?"

Noire thought about it. She had become accustomed to Shaede's habits back at Ravenholm, but who knew if she adopted new ones in their short time of freedom so far. "Somewhere," she decided, having only a general idea of what she might be doing. Where, she had no idea.

Rubi looked up. "Ah, McKillan, where've you been hiding, boy?"

Noire peered over her shoulder to glance at the healer, her vivid blue pools narrowing some. Non-human or not, she still didn't trust him. She didn't even trust her own cousin yet. Years in that place had done a number on her trust in people in general.
