The corridor descended further from the elevator and into darkness. Without missing a step, both the raven-haired girls went down the stairs, motion-sensitive lights turning on from their passing. Rubi and Aidan kept close behind them, and as they reached the open doorway of a large metallic room that shined with copper, the pilot stopped them with a gentle tap on their shoulders. Inside this room, the copper walls had an iridescent mirror sheen that was like copper-stained looking glass. On the other end of the room was a steel door.

Aidan's eyes widened slightly, his pupils shrinking somewhat, a focused look in his expression as his eyes darted every which way, following something invisible. "I can see them. You got the remote, right?"

Rubi smiled. "Miss MacKillan wouldn't let us down after flirting so shamelessly with our dear host just to get one little device. Would you do the honours?" she asked, turning to Shaede, her smile deepening when she caught Aidan's slightly miffed look at the mention of Ashcroft. So, he really was bothered by the man. "No time for jealousy, McKay."

"Who said I was jealous?"

Noire just turned to the odd pair and blinked. Jealous? Of who? What for? Wasn't Aidan a womanizer? It's not like Aidan had a ghost of a chance with Shaede anyway. She knew her friend was far too cautious of men now to even allow one close ever again.

Rubi shrugged. "Alright, shut it off."

Shaede walked on by Noire's side, how they managed to lead she was not sure, was this not Rubi's and McKay's plan?

The young woman almost scoffed when he asked if she'd gotten what she'd come for! Did he think her so useless? What sort of woman did he take her for?! She scowled, as Rubi had to make a comment about the flirting. It was an act! She was an agent of deception! This was what she was trained to do! But, he had seemed awfully interesting...

Rubi seemed to taunt him, claiming him jealous. What was that meant to mean? Of Ashcroft? Nonsense! His sharp response confirmed it, she had already established that Mr McKay was not interested in her... in fact, the way they squabbled Shaede was not sure he and the captain had some sort of arrangement or relationship happening. It seemed most likely.

She ignored them as she reached down the front of her dress and pulled out the small copper remote. She turned the dial and pressed the button, sending a signal to the transmitter in the door frame. She could almost feel the system shut down, but it was likely her imagination. She looked to her friend, ignoring the petty conversation.

"You're turn," she stated softly to Noire.

Noire smirked, removing her 'engagement ring,' giving it to Shae to hold on as they approached the door. She pressed a fist into her other hand, her knuckles cracking loudly, transforming into the fearsome black talons. Everyone looked back as it could be heard that the elevator had shut and ascended to the top floor.

Rubi pressed a finger to the comm again. "That better be you assholes recalling the elevator."

"Yes, ma'am," one replied.

"Good. We don't want any unexpected guests. Go ahead, Noire," the captain urged on.

The girl nodded, approaching the wide door. Aidan watched with fearful astonishment as Noire thrust her hand forward, tearing through two inches of steel like it was butter. Using both hands, she pulled down, rolling it like peeling wallpaper, exposing the inner workings of the door. Rubi stepped up, looking inside. Nodding, she stepped back to allow Noire to finished. Noire reached in with her whole arm, taking a moment to look around with her hand. As Rubi and the others waited, the elevator could be heard again, and voices of the pirates could be heard as they got closer.

Rubi turned to greet them. "How slow. You should have been here fives minutes ago."

"Give us a break, Cap. We're not McKay. And you only called us five minutes ago!"

"Quiet!" Noire demanded, the room immediately going silent as Noire continued to look around. After another moment, she smiled, and with a hard yank, she forced a pair of pistons to release the locks with a hiss. "Got it."

"Very good Noire. You certainly impress me with your strength," Rubi commented as Noire pulled the heavy door open.

Inside was mountains of gold, glittering jewels, and silver, meticulously counted cash in labelled cases. Rubi's own eyes glittered, clasping her hands together and sighing like a woman in love. Once she got that out of her system, she ordered her men to start gathering the jackpot. Aidan went to gathering some of the jewels as well, piling them into empty cases before he stopped suddenly, his body going rigid as his mind was no longer in the room. Eyes wide, he noticed something felt off...extremely off. No...

"Rubi," he called out, his tone darkened. How had he not noticed until now?! She was ignoring him though, too busy barking orders to get the lot of wealth moving. "Rubi!"

The urgent tone finally caught her attention, and she turned. "What? What's--" Seeing the hardened look on Aidan's face told her everything, and for once since Noire and Shaede had met her, the carefree woman actually looked worried. Rubi's own expression turning dark, she turned to her men. "Garrick Ritter is coming, men! GET MOVING!"

"What?" Noire asked. "What's going on? Rubi?"

Rubi gritted her teeth. "And at such a time, too." She turned to the girls. "Seems we'll have to cut the looting time in half, meaning we'll grab what we can, and leave. Seems Ashcroft will be able to keep some of his wealth after all. Damn!"

"What is going on?!" Noire demanded.

"Let me put it this way. We have to leave...now. We'll go back to the party, grab the doc, and go. No side-stealing or anything. Garrick Ritter is not a man to fuck with. Believe me. Now, let's go grab Leon." With that, she marched back to the elevator with Noire and Shaede in tow, pressing a finger to her comm. "Leon, apparently trouble is on its way. Get ready to leave."

However, just as she said that. There was a foreboding atmosphere overwhelming the party-goers with a deathly silence. Even while Ashcroft was speaking with Leon still, he too had gone silent in mid-sentence. In the entrance of the ballroom, stood Mael, Avalynn, and Garrick. Mael scoured the faces of the rich with an impassive expression, looking for any familiar visage.

The doormen had followed them, angrily and desperately ordering them to leave. "You three don't have an invitation! You're not allowed in here!"

Just as one grabbed Garrick's shoulder, he peered over at the offender with a piercing gaze. Slowly, he reached up, grabbing the man's hand, crushing the bones in the fingers, the man yelling out in pain. He twisted arm, ending up behind the man within the blink of an eye, thrusting his free hand forward, grasping his lower spine, and sending a blinding green surge through the man as he screamed. People watched in horrified shock when the flashing light subsided, some of the women shrieking as the doorman was dropped, eyes rolled into the back of his head, body smoking, and thickly foamed at the mouth.

"Hm, human men," he said casually. "So weak."

Ashcroft stared down at the dead man, eyes wide, his face full of some shock as well as anger. Calmly, he merely scowled at the party-crashers. "What can I do for you three?" he asked through gritted teeth.

Mael took notice of the host, marching towards them. "We're looking for two women. Noire Squire and Shaede MacKillan. Nearly 4 days ago, these women escaped from Ravenholm." Just the mere mention of the hellish place made many shudder inside the room.

Victor, however, was well aware of such a place, and had an idea of what went on inside. "I see. I honestly have no idea who you're talking about. You're going to have to be more specific."

Impassively, Mael reached into a pocket, pulling out two small sepia toned photos, revealing the faces. "Do you recognize them?" he asked. "We're under the impression that they're here."

Victor looked at the photos, his eyes showing recognition for a split second. He didn't even spare Leon a glance. Putting two and two together, he sighed. "Sorry, I'm afraid I don't recall seeing those women here. Such a shame that such beauties would be stuck in such a horrible place though. Why do you pursue them?"

Mael knew he was lying, however, he didn't press the issue, putting away the photos. "They're property of Her Majesty." He peered over his shoulder at the handful of soldiers they brought along. "Find them."

"Yes, sir." And so, they scattered.

Ashcroft watched them leave, invading his estate. Mael turned back to him. "They may have intended to rob you, Lord Ashcroft."

"You know me?"

"You're famous. Of course. You have created state of the art security systems, weapons, and the likes, your ancestor, Archibald Ashcroft, was responsible for the floating city itself. However, despite all this, you have never served the Queen."

"I don't support a murderous monarch," he replied with ease.

Mael watched him, then smiled ever so slightly, turning away. "Continue with your party. Let's go," he told the other two.

Garrick eyed Leon for a moment, uncertain as to where he had seen him before. Shrugging, he followed after Mael and Avalynn. Ashcroft stared down at the body again, frowning. He turned to his security. "Put him in the kitchen fridge until I can make proper arrangements for his burial."

"Yes, sir."

Ashcroft watched with gritted teeth. "Bastards..." He turned to Leon then. "I assume you're with those women. Get out of here before they catch you." Before Leon could ask why, he merely hissed out angrily, "Just go. You and your friends don't have time to dawdle."

Shaede hid a wicked smile, watching her 'sister' go to work. they'd always felt free, using their powers... at least, Shaede had. As she looked on she felt a peculiar prickling on her back and shoulders, she tried to ignore it, she had work to do. Watching as Noire was able to unleash her power, she felt her fingers twitch. Her shadows and flame longed to spring forth... too long had she held her power back, like a shaken bottle, at some point, she had to release the pressure. But at what cost? She was a monster, those around her would fall.

Her attention was caught when McKay spoke the Captain's name. Something in his tone, set off an alarm in her head. The Captain's reaction was less than inspiring. But the mood was clear.

The game was on.

It was not hard for Shae to piece together that this 'Garrick' was the one responsible for the storm. Shaede felt the prickling on the back of her neck again...then ran down her arms. She clenched and unclenched her hands irritably as she followed behind Rubi.

Leon turned in alarm as one of the men he recognised as Ashcroft's staff screamed and dropped to the ground. He stood frozen in place, waiting, ready to run for the girls if he must.

Ashcroft spoke to them and Leon's heart stopped when the leader of these intruders stated his intwntion and showed a picture. He waited for the man to turn, point him out, cry out in anger or shock.... but he didn't he said nothing.

He covered for them, when he had no reason to. Leon stayed still until the leader and his two cronies departed. But still there were soldiers crawling around the estate now.

He moved to speak to Ashcroft, the death of this man was on their heads... any more that died tonight would be on them as well. Leon was disgusted. Ashcroft was blunt, he knew, and he told them to go...
Leon only paused to look him in the eye.

"Thank you," he said, seriously. Never had he been more grateful to another human being than just now. But there was no time. He hurried off.

He heard Rubi's voice crackle in his ear, his heart already racing.
"Its much worse than that, Captain. Queen's people are here, Garrick is with them, they're after the girls. Get out now, drop everything. If I don't meet you outside, leave me behind and go."

He hurried down a side stair, there would be a side door leading back out somewhere.
"Hide behind the mound... of dead bards!"

Sadly, the elevator had already been called to the top for other pirates. Rubi cursed. It was the only way out. Placing a finger on her comm, she yelled, "You guys up top have a job to do. Distract any royal guards, veer them off if you can. We need time for the elevator to come down!"

"Consider it done!"

Aidan stepped forward. "Fuck waiting. Garrick knows where we are!" With a yell, he smashed through the control panel to call the elevator, Rubi pushing everyone back as he suddenly lit up with a thousand bolts, the sound of the elevator stopping. Changing polarity, the elevator began to descend. He panted, pulled out a smoking hand. "Get in, ride's here."

With everybody shuffling into the compartment, the doors closed behind them, taking a long trip up. Rubi turned to Aidan. "Can you make it go faster?"

"I can't," he said thoughtfully. "I can do something else though. Get to the car, and get the ship running. I'll catch up with you later." Before anyone could ask or protest, he lit up again and disappeared in a flash of light, the electricity going into the control panel and zipping through the current, causing the lights to flicker.

Rubi snapped, "WHAT THE FUCK! THAT IDIOT! He's gonna get himself killed!"

In that moment, Garrick paused in his stride and grinned. "Looks like big brother is coming to greet us. How cute, protecting his little friends from mean old us."

Mael barely regarded him, glancing over his shoulder. There was a deathly silence, but the more one listened in that large and long corridor, the more one heard the faint buzzing. And as a wall sconce flickered, Mael drew his sword a split second before a violent stream of lightning streaked in his path in an assault. The blade connected, the light faltering and crashing into the wall, solidifying into Aidan.

The pilot leaned against the wall, panting as he seemed shaken by the fact that a mere man had nearly wounded him. Had he not been in such an elemental form, he probably would be bleeding. Mael turned his gaze towards his attacker with an impassive expression. "So...you're Aidan McKay."

"What of it?"

"Garrick. Do wwhat you want with him. He's not my mission."

The violence-hungry brunette grinned, cracking his knuckles. "Now I'm all wired."

Before Mael and Avalynn could walk away, Aidan flashed into their path. "How rude. So, a couple of humans don't have the time of day for a prime specimen like me. I would think you'd want me as part of your experiments, turn me into a loyal dog like my little brother."

Suddenly pissed off, Garrick, zipped between his two companions to uppercut his brother's jaw, sending him flying down the hall. "I'm no one's dog. I'm only helping them because they offered me you. You, however, pretending to be human, parading around with a band of misfit pirates who claim to be humanitarian. You're pathetic. You should be proud of the power you hold--oh, excuse me, I forgot about how weak you've grown since we were last face to face."

"Do you have this, or not, Garrick?" Mael asked impatiently.

Garrick waved him off dismissively. "Yeah. Just go already. I'm gonna be taking my sweet time with this mama's boy."

The doors of the elevators opened, Shaede leant around the corner looking and listening.
"Noone in the immediate vicinity," she stated calmly, "The ship is this way," she took a sharp left, remembering the map from the schematic. Her blood had begun to race in her veins, she could feel the itch of combat looming... They took another turn to the left, approaching the courtyard, from there they could cross to the servants passage and out.

Shaede took to her gloves, removing them and her jewellery, if there was to be a fight, she would not have time to adjust. "Of all the days for them to find us... it was of course the one where I am over dressed," she frowned. She stayed vigilant, she could feel something or someone tailing them, and getting closer.

"Hold on," She stated, turning and pressing her hands to the wall, with a burst of power, the lights all went out through the entire hallway, darkness was her friend, and she must stay in it. "Go on ahead, I'll trail behind to keep them in the dark." She murmured quietly. Suddenly; movement to her right! She quickly drew the short dagger hidden in her dress, preparing for a fight.

-

Leon hurried along a corridor, he had to find his sister and Noire, panic began to set in and his heart began to race, what if they hurt the girls? or somehow captured them? He knew they had powers but... but how could he leave them alone like that? The second he was out of sight of any soldiers, he took off, sprinting down the halls, ahead he spotted lights go out. That had to be them! He hurried, his long legs taking huge strides.

He rushed around the corner, only to come face to face with the three girls readying to gut him in an instant. He blinked, his hands held up in front of him but breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank the gods," he muttered,

"Could have killed you, you need to be more careful." Shaede snapped at him, a disapproving glare marred her features.

"No time for that, little sister." He puffed, then looked around, "Where are the others?"

Before Rubi could answer, Noire's head shot up and pulled both Leon and Rubi back a second before something crashed through the wall with an electric blast. Aidan lied on the floor, charred marks on his clothing as he winced. Before anyone could say anything and demand what the hell happened, there was a deafening silence as the sound of footsteps was followed by a mirror image of Aidan stepping through the destroyed wall, eyes glowing the electric green as green sparks waved over his hands, lighting through the darkness with an eerie flickering glow.

Garrick's cold eyes briefly ran over the others in the room, a small smirk playing on his lips. "Ahh, if it isn't the misfit captain and her pack of runaways. Nice to see you again, Squire."

For once, the usually self-confident captain with a humorous attitude did not find amusement in this situation. In fact, she looked apprehensive. "Garrick Ritter. Was it necessary for you to blast my pilot through the wall?"

"I find that trouncing my big brother onto his ass to be quite liberating. But, you should know, I'm not the only one looking for a fight." To illustrate his point, he was joined by two others. A pretty redhead and a foreboding figure in black uniform. Rubi's eyes widened. Now they really were fucked.

Mael seemed pleased...in a very subtle turn of his lips...by the immediate results that Garrick brought. "Good, and I thought it'd be quite the bother looking for you two." Noire went on high alert. Her hands stiffened, preparing for a fight as she let out a guttural growl. He turned to her and his face softened, throwing her off completely by the change of expression. "I apologize, but I must return you to Ravenholm. I understand your desire for freedom, but a higher power demands that your wish cannot be granted. Come quietly and you will not be reprimanded later for your indiscretion."

Noire's claws blackened, raising one hand in front of her face as she flexed the sharp talons in a threatening gesture. "And if we refuse?"

He closed his eyes, a regretful expression on his face, drawing his sword once more, "Then I will have no choice but to take you back by force."

Noire laughed. "What's your knife gonna do to me? Pierce through my heart?"

"No," he replied immediately. "I have no intention of killing either of you. My mission is to bring you back alive. It's merely meant to...subdue. I know very well, Lady Squire, that you could easily break my sword in half, but it is just a tool for the real threat you will face--"

Before he could finish, Rubi yelled out as she threw a chemical pellet onto the floor, "Not today!"

As it crashed on impact, suffocating thick smoke filled the area. Noire complained as Rubi dragged her back, running for the exit. Cursing, she picked up the unconscious Aidan with her inhuman strength, running for the car as soon as they were outside. Rubi was the next one to curse as there was a maniacal laugh, Garrick flashing into appearance as he stood on the hood of the car.

"Fuck off, you wanker!" Rubi demanded.

"But you didn't say goodbye," he replied.

By this point, Aidan woke with a groan. Relieved she didn't have to carry him further, she dropped the pilot, who cursed upon the ground. Getting up as Mael and Avalynn blocked there way back inside the building, there was no choice but to fight. After a moment of consideration, he stood straight, cracking his neck with a purposeful turn of his head, then rolled his shoulders, back cracking.

"Alright Garrick," he began in a low voice, his own eyes glowing menacingly. "You have me."

Garrick's eyes lit up with violent glee. "Are you finally getting serious?"

Aidan looked less than pleased, his voice more gravelly than usual, even menacing, "You're leaving me no choice...little brother." As he stepped forward, the ground lit up with blue sparks, garden lights and the lights inside the house going haywire, flickering on and off. As Mael and Avalynn stepped forward to take on the other four, he snarled violently, eyeing them both over his shoulder as the sound of thunder roared in the distance, "Don't you dare fucking move."

Mael eyed the man cautiously. A moment ago, he seemed hardly a threat, but even Garrick doesn't seem to...measure up to him. "Stay back, Avalynn...it appears Mr. McKay is quite the...force of nature."

Ignoring them, Aidan regarded the others. "Go now. Take off as soon as you get to the ship." He regarded Shae in that moment, and his menacing form softened somewhat. "I'll see you later." Garrick snarled at his brother's sudden rise in confidence, and was about to smash an electric fist through the car to prevent them from getting away, but he was blasted into the rose bushes by a streaming of blue lightning. "Don't think I forgot about you, Garrick."

"Don't take too long, stupid," Rubi ordered, getting into the car, catching a glimpse of Aidan smirking.

Shae jumped back, feeling the pulsing energy rip through her senses. She spotted McKay and stepped aside a moment before he collided with the ground, right were she had been standing. Green illuminated the darkness and a man appeared in the gloom, he seemed to be very pleased with himself. Shaede watched impassively, waiting for a flick of the wrist, jerk of the head, a tell tale sign he would attack, luckily for them, he seemed more interested in boasting and partaking in light banter.

Shaede's nerves were set on edge, her inner monster laughed demonically, 'do not talk, fight!' it demanded, yet she kept herself calm.

A moment later two others approached, one seemed like a sidekick, some grinning fool of a girl. the other, Shaede took far more seriously a man in black, he walked tall, his head high, with an air of regality. He walked like he owned the place and the people in it were boring him. Shaede nearly smirked, too often, she had felt the same. He looked at Noire with a soft expression, but Shaede had seen it before, the kind eyes, the smile. But this would not charm her or Noire. He was wasting his time trying to seem sympathetic.

She instinctively stood in front of Noire protectively, her silver eyes flashed.

"I regret to inform you, you cannot complete your task. We will not go with you, and to attempt to do so will result in death. Most likely, yours." She warned, the room darkened around her, her voice was soft, pleasant, but the subtle edge to it was enough. She held her hands beside her, and as she drew them closed, the darkness began to cover their enemies. The red head began to shift her weight, looking uncomfortable.

Before much more could be said, the Captain reacted, throwing smoke in their direction. Shaede was almost disappointed that she couldn't wipe the floor with the brats.

They ran to the car, Shaede deliberately not moving as fast as she could, being the last in the group to make it to the car, she kept an eye on those behind her. McKay's brother seemed to have the same powers as Aidan, zipping ahead of them as a bolt of light. He reminded her much of a cat the way he lounged about, all cocky and sure of himself. She should like to take the wind from his sails and knock him down several pegs.

Aidan seemed to come to his senses, standing and facing his sibling. Appropriate, but now it seemed the younger of the brothers had severely pissed off the elder. The lights sparked, blue electricity jolted from the ground; even the air itself seemed to buzz, she could feel a pleasant tingling on her skin. The tension was thrilling, it called to a deeper, animalistic part of herself, her inner demon chuckled gleefully. Shaede had to stop herself from smirking once more, the fight would be a fun one, but she frowned slightly when he demanded they go.

He looked at her for a moment, his murderous gaze seemed to diminish, she frowned again. Some seemed to have all the fun, instead of speaking she simply nodded, and walked to the car. She shot a glance to the Regal man in black, he seemed mildly impressed with McKay's actions, interesting. She however felt almost bored, irritable that they had to run like scared mice. She stepped into the car and Leon barely waited for the door to close before he took off.

"Hm," shae mused calmly. "I think I have seen him before,"

While Leon drove through the main gates at high speed, Rubi turned to Shaede. "Perhaps you have seen him before. He's commands the entire royal army right under the Prince-General. Mael."

"Why couldn't we just stay and deal with them?!" Noire demanded irritably.

"Garrick is unpredictable with a temper and a deep hatred for McKay to match. Right now, he's an issue Aidan needs to deal with. As for the woman, I don't know what to expect from her as I've never seen her before, but the Lieutenant-General...let's just say that his feats are...legendary. Since you've been imprisoned, I doubt they would have given you any indication of how dangerous certain followers of the queen really are. Besides, Aidan has a way of...dealing with the situation at hand should the need arise."

Ten minutes and much people and traffic dodging later, they arrived at the port, greeted by the sight of two dozen guns aimed right at them. Rubi cursed but Noire merely grinned, cracking her knuckles. "Shall we Shae?"

She stepped out of the car, standing before the soldiers with a calm glee, grabbing the skirt of her dress and ripping it away, ignoring the horrified whimper from her cousin over the destruction of the material. This left her legs with thigh-high stockings exposed and free, tendrils of fabric hanging in front. She noticed how Leon's eyes instantly glanced over and mildly glared at him before grinning at the opposing squad. With a simple cracking of her knuckles and darkness enveloping the room, she took out half of them with natural ease, claws slashing through flesh, breaking bones, and for one, she snatched their weapon and shot them in the face with it. Once the light returned, surprisingly, minimal blood splatter was upon the already ruined dress, a few drops on her face. Most of the blood was on the tip of her claws, dripping once or twice.

"Hm..." Shaede regarded Rubi's response, perhaps he had been to Ravenholm, certainly something seemed familiar about him, his energy signature perhaps. She couldn't be sure.

He was dangerous then? Perhaps she should have stuck around. Rubi knew he was powerful... but she had not seen anything yet, Noire and Shaede were Class 1 of Ravenholm. The best of the best. They had dampener drugs pumped into them to ensure their powers were not out of the scientists control.

Her fingers were twitching, twirling her dagger between them, getting faster and faster with each revolution. She had been constricted for far too long, her powers needed room to move and be free.

Her prayers seemed to be answered a short while later when they pulled up, several armed men were awaiting them.

Shaede noticed Noire smile, and nodded as her sister spoke. She stepped out of the car, an air of elegance about her.

She regarded them with disdain, "This should not take long," she stated softly. With a swift slice of her knife, part of her skirt fell away, only revealing part of her right leg, it was covered with a stocking anyway. She took Noire's cue and threw up a cloud of black smoke, blinding the enemy. With a wave of her hand, she vanished into the inky blackness, moving swiftly and silently.

They did not see her as she snuck up behind them to snap their necks, they never heard her when she slashed their throats, nor take notice when the shadow became solid and skewered them with dozens of sharp ethereal blades... not until it was far too late. An eerie silence fell over the port, and the dark smoke faded. The girls stood amid the dozen or so corpses, mild blood splatter and sinister smiles.

"That was a good start!" Shae grinned, "I do hope that is not all of the entertainment for the evening?"

"Indeed," Noire agreed with a thickness to her voice to accompany the malicious smirk on her face. It was the face of a bred killer. To add to her darkened nature, she licked the blood off one of her talons. "They brought this upon themselves. It's only fair that we respond in kind."

Undisturbed by their sudden mood swing, Rubi exited the vehicle to climb aboard the ship, sending a wistfully sad expression towards the car. They didn't have time to take it along. Escape was a must. Five minutes later, they were soon joined by another vehicle filled with her misfit band of pirates, carrying what they could of the loot they had taken. Rubi immediately started barking orders for them to get the ship ready to leave.

"Hurry up! Those royals will be on us any minute and then we won't be going anywhere!"

"But, Captain! The dock doors are closed! We can't leave!" exclaimed one subordinate.

Rubi gave him a long and hard stare, baffled by him, even. "WHAT THE HELL DO WE HAVE WEAPONS ON THIS SHIP FOR?! IDIOT!"

"R-right!! Sorry madam!"

"Get your ass moving!" When he scrambled away along with the others, she turned a fierce gaze upon the girls. "If anybody else arrives before we can take off, you'll be our offensive shield. Since you two have trained for dire situations, I'm putting all my trust in you."

"I understand," Noire said seriously. "It's a shame though that we can't simply finish off those losers."

Rubi said nothing. Inhuman strengths and powers or not, she knew those two were no match for a man like Mael. The rumours behind him were indeed legendary. Some said that his strength rivalled that the of prince's. The only bigger monster was the prince himself, and he was no opponent to laugh at.

---

Meanwhile...

Aidan and Garrick stared each other down with great contempt for one another, glowing daggers of blue and green aimed at each other. Garrick was the first to crack a smirk. "Oh, McKay, even if they get away now, you're still dead meat, and we'll just find them again. I saw your eyes when you looked at the darkling. It's too bad she and her friend have to remain alive, otherwise I would have enjoyed the sound of their screams as they were being slowly cooked to death by my power."

The pilot kept his face impassive. "Impossible. Unlike you and I, they were trained to kill. You don't stand a chance. They did not have mothers to nurture them, or a father to shape them."

Garrick snarled. "At least my mother wasn't some timid whore like yours."

That did it as Aidan showed immediate rage at the comment. "You honestly are blind to the kind of man our father was. If he was still alive today, he would have sold you in a heartbeat to even the most vile scum of this earth. You didn't know him like I did."

Garrick scoffed. "You're right, I didn't know him. You killed him before I got that chance, but not before he killed your precious mother."

"Words of a spoiled brat." Aidan smirked. "What's the matter, little prince? Did this pauper give you a case of daddy issues?"

"Enough!" Garrick growled aloud. "Enough talk! I'm going to kill you, and then I'll have finally accomplished what our father could not!" The sound of thunder rumbled again, only it was more fierce, and clouds began to form above the flying city, lightning lighting up the cumulonimbus with that ominous green. "And once I'm done with you," he continued, eyes flashing a dangerous green, "I'm going to spit on your corpse and throw it to the wolves!"

Mael watched with small interest, then turned away. "Come Avalynn. We have a ship to catch."

Aidan went to turn his attention towards them in an attempt to keep them where they were, but was surprised by a green blast to the chest, sending him crashing into the brick wall. "Don't get distracted!" Garrick demanded with malicious glee.

Mael ignored the rest of the battle, heading towards the front of the house to get inside a vehicle which immediately rushed off through the gates and towards the end of the city. Garrick would handle his brother, while the Lt-Gen. would capture the fugitives. He turned his gaze towards Avalynn.

"Don't disappoint me, or His Majesty."

Shaede watched the humans scrabble around and suppressed a laugh, she felt a grin crawl across her lips, her fingers flexed and she could feel a surge of power through her, shifting and changing. She felt hot lines run down her arms as another group of guards came into view. Part of her mind told her something was different, she had not felt this sort of power before… The sleeves covered the black markings that moved over her skin, coming from her back, taking smoky shapes, her powers felt stronger, and her inner voice hissed at her to fight…

“I need something challenging…” she muttered irritably. She raised a hand and with barely a thought, black darts show out from the smoke forming around her hand. It shot with enough force to take out the guard that ran around the corner. Her steps were precise, a swagger to her hips and a flick of her wrist, another guard fell, the darts fading into shadow once they had found their mark.

---

Avalynn watched the battle with interest, she was almost annoyed she had to leave, Garrick’s brother was cute… very cute… but neither of them compared with the vision of a woman she had seen leaving in the car before. There was some sort of aura around the two girls, something that put Ava’s hair on end. One of them had marred her pretty face with a scowl, but the other, she wore the same look Mael seemed to, as though she could see everything and everyone, and it bored her.

“Have you ever seen them before?” she asked curiously to her travelling companion as they got into the car. “One of them reminds me of you…”
They took off so fast she had to hold on in the corners, she heard him speak to her and smirked,

“As if I could disappoint my dear brother,” she laughed softly and readied her weapons. The two girls were waiting.

The Lt-General kept his gaze on Ava. "I've seen them a couple of times when I accompanied His Majesty to Ravenholm. While one accepted the experiments, the other chose to rebel against them. Despite the difference in receptiveness, they both came out of the experiments equally deadly. One is calculating, the other unpredictable. As a pair, they are a deadly duo that could take on an army if they so wished. His Majesty and the Queen are the strongest beings in this world. Those girls, if left alone, could be on equal footing with them."

For a split second, he smirked. "One strikes in darkness and the other strikes without the need of a weapon, for she herself is a weapon. I implore you to exercise caution when you fight them. They are not normal opponents. Even I will have a difficult time with them."

Noire stood on the open ramp of the lower dock of the ship, cracking her knuckles with a simple flex of her claws, even as more soldiers came into the port. Shae could handle mere soldiers with ease. She noticed the citizens and other airmen within the vicinity showing immense fear at the display of violence. She recognized a couple of the men from earlier that day who had dumped water on her. Seeing them both looking horrified and dropping their bottles of liquor, she grinned, jumping down and running at them. They screamed, but she stopped mere inches from them as they backed up in a panic and fell against the wall of the office, sweating and gaping in terror. She towered over them, thrusting her claws into the wall above their heads, causing them both to squeak.

She leaned close, a dark expression on her face. There was a long pause as she allowed the fear to further take hold, and then... "Boo."

They screamed, one of them leaving a telltale wet stain on their trousers. "O-oh god!! Please don't kill us!" one pleaded loudly.

Noire smirked again. "Maybe you'll think twice about who you dump water on next time, you ilk."

There was the sound of a screech of tires on metal. Noire looked up to see a tank-like all terrain vehicle spinning towards her. Not phased, it screeched to a halt a mere foot from her. Grinning, she drove her claws into its side, nicking Mael's cheek as he barely moved to avoid serious damage. He grasped the hilt of his sword as the side of the car was ripped away, coming face to face with one of the escapees. Eyes narrowing, the warrior drew his sword in a flash, thrusting it towards her, to which she responded by leaping onto the top of the vehicle, sword landing into the wall where she had her claws previously. The two drunkards whimpered, being ignored by Mael as they crawled away in a hurry.

He turned his gaze over his shoulder to witness Noire leap onto the hood and rip it apart and then grabbing the engine. She didn't even feel its heat as she pulled hard, sparks flying as it was now above her head. The driver managed to show awe and horror before she leaped into the air, front flipping and throwing the engine downwards with the added momentum. Mael had no time to think as he grabbed Avalynn, pulling her out and jumping away. The impact caused the engine to go straight through the vehicle, ultimately destroying it.

"Captain! We're ready to take off," cried out one pirate.

"Good!" Rubi pointed towards the flight doors. "Blast those open!"

As the ship began to hum then roar to life, hidden launchers emerged with loud clicks and clanks. Guided torpedoes whistled through the air, and a shockwave shook the entire area as fire and smoke exploded, sending metal flying. Rubi cheered for explosions then demanded they take off. Even as they tried, there was a violent jerk, causing the she-pirate to curse.

"What the hell's wrong now?! The ship should be fixed!"

"It's the docking locks, sir! They haven't been disengaged!"

"Shit!" Where's Aidan when you needed him? He could have done it in a snap.

Mael looked over to see the predicament his enemies were in, then smiled darkly. "It seems you won't be going anywhere, Miss Squire," he proclaimed to Noire.

She looked over then snarled. "Like hell we won't!" And like that, she ran towards the giant metal arms. All she had to do was deal with the joints and the rest was easy. "Shae! Distract them!"

Mael eyed the darkling with fierce determination. "Avalynn, make sure Squire doesn't succeed. Go!"

Avalynn paled as the Lt. General spoke, evenly matched with even he? Damn… she had watched him in training… this was going to be a hell of a fight…

Shaede laughed as Noire terrorized some pathetic looking humans on the outskirts of the dock. She barely paid attention to the three men that were attacking her, their moves were so predictable she didn’t even have to look at them. She was playing with them, biding her time, jumping about and dancing around to keep herself entertained.

Her attention was caught as she saw the heavy car screaming around the corner, with a flick of her hand the three soldiers dropped, gasping for breath for a few moments before expiring. She walked slowly toward Noire and her targets. Her sister destroyed the car with barely any effort. Shaede could not help but grin.

Avalynn fell aside with a thump as Mael threw her out of the way, she opened her mouth to protest but the loud crashing and explosions told her now was not the time. The clawed one took off toward the ship and Mael demanded her to follow. She wanted to ask him if he were mad… but she had been trained alongside her ‘brother’ in the palace… she knew what to do. And with that, she took off after the darkling, shooting a few bolts from her crossbow in her direction to deter her from the landing gear.

Shaede heard the call of her kin and her skin prickled, she felt fire in her chest and in a flash, her body became smoke and she appeared ginning before the Lt. General. A massive flash of smoke and she hovered just above him, her hair suddenly splayed out behind her, long and luxurious, no longer the short cut she had moments ago.

“Hello darling,” she hissed, her eyes glinted in the moonlight, her torso only visible in the smoke. She slashed at Mael, something sharp hidden in the shadows, an unseen weapon. She shifted and swayed, her body ethereal and she was not even touching the ground. A moment later she was gone… “I was told you could bring me some real fun…” her lips brushed his ear, the smoke behind him suddenly.

Noire's ears twitched some from the faint whistling of steel piercing through the air. Pupils shrinking in focus, she leaned and rolled sideways, one of the bolts barely nicking her cheek and slicing through a few loose strands of her hair. Stilling, she remained in a crouched position and glared piercingly over her shoulder at the offending redhead. So, she wanted to play. Smirking, she continued forward, undaunted by the threat. She jumped forward towards one of the docking arms, climbing up the limb to one of the joints. As her claws pierced into the first, she gasped as a bolt went through her shoulder. Growling, she glared down at the approaching woman.

"You're gonna pay for that, human," she promised darkly. Standing straight to face her from her high point, her eyes of fiery blue coldly took in her opponent. Hands at her side, she flexed her claws outward, the sound of joints cracking with dangerous proposition. "You should have stayed at home where you would never have had to deal with the fear and pain I'll be gifting you with."

He grunted slightly as a sharp projectile shot into his side out of the dark. Ignoring the wound, his eyes widened as he heard her behind him, but then the initial surprise was replaced by cold calm. "You don't know who you're dealing with, my lady." And like that, he was suddenly behind her with a speed that matched her own, and in kind he whispered into her ear softly, "Give yourself up. Don't make me hurt you. I'd rather avoid harming a woman."
