"Essentially yes, Shadow Agents are designed to be singular armies, but a lot quieter, we can do what others cannot, if they finished the project, it's likely they could destroy anything. Though strictly speaking I only know this from snooping through files and eavesdropping. They don't tell you why you so anything, just go there. Do this. Use powers... kill him, destroy that." A memory flashed in her eyes, and her mouth twisted bitterly. She was however broken from her thoughts when he mentioned making up for it. "What did you have in mind?" She queried dubiously. Business conversation she could handle, if he started getting friendly she was not sure she would be as comfortable. However she was unsure of him, he knew what she was capable of. Was he trying to be polite? Or was she a conquest to add to his reputation? There was no way he was just being kind, humans didn't do kind. --- Leon's smile widened, "very well, I have a few ideas," he stated. "On this level are the botannical gardens, the theatre and the sky tower, any of those take your interest?" He knew the theatre was hosting a circus for a few weeks, the gardens were massively beautiful, and often had an orchestra playing for entertainment. The sky tower was a tourist attraction, the highest point in all the city. Standing at the top, one could see for miles in every direction... |

Aidan smiled mysteriously. "Well, have you actually ever flown a plane? Airship is one thing, but you seem like someone who'd enjoy a thrill or two. They've got a few planes for rent and you and I could take a spin and take a look at the city from the skies. What do you think?" --- Noire thought about it. Heights didn't bother her. Not much bothered her really, except for very few things. "Maybe the tower first, and then the garden and maybe the theatre last. I've never really seen a performance before." |

"I've driven hover crafts, cars, bikes, boats, piloted air craft simulators, but no, not a real plane, no." She mused, she eyes him with mock suspicion and pushed her plate away, now finished with her meal. She tilted her head to the side slightly, looking at him through narrowed silver orbs, her full lips pouting as she regarded him. "Is this your version of a date Master McKay? Do not think I will fall for the charms you throw at me like the others you've conquered," Her tone was jovial, playful but she was serious in her inquiry. She stood as the waitress came to collect their plates, she pulled yet another coin purse out of her pocket, different to the one she had thrown at him before, and handed the young woman a few gold coins in tips. The woman seemed very grateful. Shaede was curious, had she been excessive in her offer? Money mattered little to her and so she did not think anything of parting with it. Once the woman had gone she turned back to Aiden. "So... lead the way." -- "The tower it is then," Leon smiled, escorting her to the door. The air was crisp and cool, even so late in the morning. Steam rushed from vents nearby and smoke rose from chimney stacks. The streets had cleared somewhat and he was able to walk without being shoved or bumped. He made sure to walk ahead a step to ensure noone accidentally walked into Noire. The tower was not far from where they were, and was visible when they stepped into the main street. "So aside morons with water buckets, what are your thoughts on this great sky city?" He asked curiously as they walked. |

"You wound me, mademoiselle. Conquered is a bit of a strong word," he joked lightly. "I don't go chasing after women who don't wish to be chased." He paused. "Besides, this isn't a date. It's usually being asked out to dinner and dancing. I asked you out to breakfast as a friendly gesture, nothing more." He smiled. "Although, there's definitely a chance in the future that I may ask you out for that dinner and dancing." When she paid a little more in tips than was usual, Aidan waited til they were outside to say anything. "Might wanna be a little more frugal with your spare change. Waiting staff doesn't usually expect anything more than silver. Also, authorities with a decent nose might sniff out thieves that way. Basically, if you're rich, but don't look it, you're either a thief or a pirate. That's how their minds work." --- "It's a bit early for me to say my opinion on this place, though it is impressive. I'm not really into machinery though. I only use it when I have to. Shae is more interested in technology and industrial advancement than I am. What impresses me most about this place is the fact that they've managed to have so much life thrive on something that's man-made. There's also no pollution from whatever factories, and the air is usually thinner up here, yet I can breathe just fine. It also looks like any other city I've seen in the books, but it's not." |

The raven haired woman eyed him warily, at first, then she seemed to calm, "I am afraid I must disappoint you, I am a terrible dancer," she stated. It was, however a definitive answer for her, he was not interested. He may say he would ask her to dance, but he was just being polite. He had made himself clear to her, his strange habits seemed more than simply friendly to her, but now she was aware of it, she could react appropriately. Gauging emotional responses were difficult, everyone reacted differently, she was more used to the cold responses of those in pursuit of science, someone being 'friendly' to her was usually a way for them to get what they wanted, or gain favour with her, perhaps he still wanted something, but it was not romanticly related, on that she was sure. She regarded him thoughtfully when he mentioned her money, this was indeed something she was not schooled on. "Hmm... seems there is more to your people's customs than I realized. I suppose you shall have to teach me of these, else I be discovered," she mused. Shaede knew that there was no way in hell she would allow herself to be captured... death first. --- Leon smiled, Noire was right; Shaede always had a keen interest in anything mechanical, she liked to take things apart and put them back together, sometimes they didn't always work however... "I believe there are filters and pumps that create a sustainable environment," he explained, "I believe the intent was to create clean energy," it was then he spotted the tower as they rounded a corner, it was massive, like a bauble on a spire, the symbol of the city. Surprisingly however he found there to be few people visiting that day. Which was good as he did not want to have to cram in with the crowds to get a good look. He paid their entry fee and took the elevator up to the observation deck. The room was large, with a second platform on a railing above them, but the walls surrounding them were all made of glass. 360º views the entire way around, it almost looked like that beyond the city, nothing existed... |

Noire's eyes widened at the view and practically pressed her face against the glass as if it would make the view more clear to her. She'd never really seen such wonders, having been stuck in Ravenholm for nearly her whole life. She only knew of what had been in pictures and even now she couldn't even remember what her old home looked like. Aerial cruisers flew through the skies like golden and silver birds. The few people that were there, some seemed to be cautious about being too close to the glass, not wanting to be reminded of how high up they were. Noire on the other hand didn't seem the least bit fearful of heights. In fact, she looked as though she felt right at home at this altitude. "I wish I could fly," she murmured. "I'd stay in the skies forever." That, to her, was true freedom. Birds were free to fly wherever they wanted. --- Aidan's brows rose at her self-proclaimed lack of foot shuffling. "Terrible dancer?" He chuckled, then it grew into a hearty laugh, earning himself a glare. He sobered quickly, but the smile remained. "It's not that hard, darlin'. You're likely going to be asked by a few lads to dance and it's going to be expected that you accept. If you're terrible, I'd be more than happy to give you a short lesson before the party tonight." |

"Maybe you can learn to grow wings?" Leon chuckled, playfully. He turned and looked out, he would come up here whenever he could... more than once he'd had the idea to throw himself off the edge... but today he was happy to just watch Noire take in the wonder of this place. Seeing her so excited made him give pause, and actually stop and take in the beauty around him. Though he didn' twish to admit how long his eyes lingered on her. "The Alice is always flying free, I have actually felt somewhat safe aboard it," he offered, with a shrug. He knew Rubi would do anything to convince Noire to stay, and he knew that if Shae and Noire left, it was likely the ship would collapse as Rubi would follow. He knew he would, he could not let his little sister out of his sight again. The clouds shifted, distracting him from his thought, revealing the sun peeking from over the mountains in the distance, rising still to catch the city and greet them with it's warmth. -- Shaede scowled at the pilot as he began to laugh at her, she did not like to be laughed at. "I am alright, I am sure I can come up with an excuse or stumble my way through it," she muttered. She was of course lying to make him feel better about not asking her to dance. He would likely find out later... but until then she was just keen to fly. "How far until we reach these planes?" She wasn't willing to admit she was excited, and she did so wish to fly in utter freedom away from everyone... it was a common dream Noire and she shared. |

Aidan smiled and a ten minute walk later, they were standing at the entrance of an airport, which looked more like an airshow than anything, as many antique planes, as well as newer and fancier looking crafts were showcased in grass fields. Enthusiasts and pilots with families and friends wandered about with ice cream, hot dogs, burgers, cotton candy, fizzy drinks, and other forms of sustenance. Some children ran around with triangular flags on short sticks, supporting their favourite plane. There were concrete lanes that stretched for what looked like a kilometre, with many newer planes on them. Aidan leaned over to her and asked, "What's your favourite colour?" He said it in such a way that seemed...mysterious, but then he pointed to one of the planes he was actually referring to. --- Noire stared at the scenery for half an hour before she finally decided she had enough for the time being. Still, she longed to be in the skies. Leon was only joking, she knew, but she really wished she could grow wings. As they left and headed for the botanical gardens, Leon would have caught her constantly looking at the sky, her hair flowing and swaying, delicately and freely behind her like a curtain of black silk. |

Shaede looked at all the planes with a sense of wonder, she had not seen one up close, and never so many in one place! There were so many people however, it did put a dampener on the events... she was not a social creature. "Interesting," she mused quietly, "Is there anything these humans wont put cheap tourist conveniences next to?" Suddenly she felt a pair of lips at her ear and Aidan's soft whisper, it was out of no where and intimate... she struggled not to shudder. Damn it. She shot him a glare, "I should think it's what's inside the craft, not the exterior that counts, would it not?" She asked with a raised eyebrow. --- As they left Leon could see Noire looked somewhat forlorn, she had seemed to enjoy her time up there. He felt a little guilty on leaving, but they couldn't stay there forever... He did catch glimpses of her from time to time, when the cool breeze would catch her hair and she looked so beautiful. Leon had to remind himself to be focused, damn the woman for being so distracting! The gardens were beautiful, expansive and full of every tree, flower, shrub and vine imaginable, waterfalls and streams, babbling brooks all flowed through the garden. Leon could not help but smile, this was beautiful. Nature, growing even in the sky... |

Aidan chuckled. "Relax. At least a little," he added upon her expression. "Considering where you've been, you deserve fun. Pick a plane and I'll arrange for us to take it for a spin." Hell knew she needed to see what good was left in the world. There was a bright side to the world beyond Ravenholm. --- Noire stared at all the vegetation in small wonder. She'd seen nature already, but not to this extent. Despite the fact it was man made, it still put a little sparkle in her eye. It was amazing what people could accomplish. It was like a fantasy world out of a fairy tale book. She ignored other patrons walking around, crouching next to beds of flowers. Gingerly, she reached out to lightly cup under the petals of a flower, feeling its texture with utmost focus. She held it, but never grasped it, fearing she'd just ruin it. --- Meanwhile, a ship made its course through the sky to nowhere in particular. Mael stood upon the bridge, arms crossed. It wasn't long before he heard light footsteps behind him approaching. He didn't bother to look, already knowing full well that it was Garrick. When the young man stepped past him, shirt loose, no vest, hair barely tamed into the low ponytail, Mael could see the sated look on his face and knew. "You're a fool," Garrick said bluntly. "A fine woman like that, I'm surprised you've resisted her til now." He looked at the Lt. General with a sly smirk. "Do you lack the goods, or are you simply not into women?" Mael finally looked at him directly. "I don't recall that being any of your business." Garrick shrugged and Mael digressed, clasping his gloved hands behind him. "But, since you're here, enlighten me as to where you would go if you just escaped Ravenholm." "You don't know?" Mael said nothing and Garrick chuckled. "It's simple. If one thinks of the place as a complete nightmare, than one would want to disappear. I assume they've been trained to blend in. First thing you'd want to do is change your appearance. How much do they know about the outside world?" "They know the basics, but otherwise they are ignorant of customs and cultures and how the world runs in general." "Didn't want them knowing too much, huh?" Again, Mael said nothing. Garrick paced slowly around the bridge, keeping his electric emerald eyes out the window. "If I were them, I'd go to the safest known place in the world. But they don't know what's safe and what isn't." "What do you consider the safest place in the world?" Mael asked casually. "Me? Probably Erebus...if one can get in. Honestly, if you haven't broken into the city, they wouldn't be able to." "It's a matter of time," said the Lt. General almost haughtily. Garrick waved it off. "Yes, yes. Anyway, they likely came to the closest town possible, which would have been a Port of sorts, stayed in hiding as they stowed away on board a ship. Sailed to the next town, and that's when they would think it's safe enough to change their appearance. Steal money, get a makeover, get some food, and then find a way to leave the town. Now, if I recall, Parren would have been the closest port across the cape. They have navy ports and air ports too. They could have travelled by foot or by boat." "No," Mael said suddenly. "On foot would have gotten them seen by now. Boats are also unreliable. Ships usually have a specific route to follow. Airship would be the most likely course they took." The young man stared at him. "That makes things a little difficult. There's thousands of airships and most ships won't even allow guests on board. Money or not." Mael didn't look at him. "The day after their escape, an investigation was issued by His Majesty. Like you, it was determined that they had indeed gone to Parren before any trace of them was suddenly lost. Both ports' records had been checked for which ships had left that day. One name caught our eye, and it was the reason you were brought up at all by the Prince." Mael looked at him, stone-faced. "Though it's not an uncommon surname, McKay happened to be in the books. It's a known fact that Aidan McKay, your older half-brother, works under the notorious Captain Rubi Indiana Squire, the cousin of one of the escapees. The reason you were brought along at all, is because you're known for constantly hunting down McKay for the sole purpose of vengeance. And usually, you tend to find him. It's apparent that these girls have somehow met up with the pirate crew of The Alice. I want to know where they've gone. Surely you're aware of your brother's whereabouts...on an...elemental level." Garrick stood there, his expression no longer smug, but serious. "Last I checked on him, he was headed for Mecha." |

Shaede decided to heed Aiden's words, perhaps she did deserve a little bit of fun... she slipped past the throngs of gawking tourists, ignoring the mutters of the people around her, she walked to the nearest plane and poked her head into the cockpit, looking at the make and model of the craft. She pushed gently on the exterior and it wobbled slightly. "Weakness in the outer shell... unreliable motor..." she mumbled to herself, her eyes very slowly moved down the length of the light craft, "Hm, tear in the skin of the fuselage..." She added quietly, touching the tiny rip, at altitude any fault could be the difference between life and death. She turned away and headed to the next one, that too had a minute crack in the windshield, and she disagrees with the shape of the nose cone, the next was insufficiently powered... there were not many planes to look at, and she was about to give up on the whole ordeal until she spotted a smaller aircraft across the runway. Shaede headed over, it was not much to look at, no flashy paint work as on the others, and not many people were looking at it. "'Allo there miss, come to 'ave a look at miss daisy?" the man beside the craft grinned. "That remain's to be seen..." Shae stated quietly, "Is 'miss daisy' in similar conditions to the others?" "Aw no miss, she may not look like much but she has it where is counts.." "Engine?" "A Crapshaw b-42," he nodded "A 10 series or 11?" she folded her arms, eyes narrowed, many of the other pilots had tried to lie to her or speak down to her when she asked questions, this man, while surprised answered her without hesitation. "A 10, but it has the 11 manifold in the back," he said, seeming excited to 'talk shop' with someone. "Interesting... and what of the modifications? this was once a Seltheiser Renegade by the front and wings but..." she frowned and leant forward looking towards the back of the craft. "Is that a Highwind tail you've attached?" "Oh aye!!" He beamed, stripped everything back, be built from scratch, solid as a rock, that is, I swear!" He patted the side gently, "but, noone seems to have the enthusiasm you do, they just see the dull paint and they aren't interested... but everything inside works to perfection! That's the most--" "The most important detail..." Shaede finished, nodding approvingly. She turned to Aiden, who had been following her and was likely bored with her constantly arguing with the moronic pilots... though, being one himself perhaps he would understand. "I should like to take 'miss Daisy' for a spin," she smirked. -- Leon watched Noire with all her sweet enthusiasm of a child seeing the world for the first time... He was also careful when they had to cross the small bridges over the streams that he stood on the outside, closer to the water... now knowing she found it... disagreeable. He hoped this made up for his foolish comments the day before, however he knew it would take more than an outing to a pretty garden to turn her favour. He only hoped he had a chance to prove himself, he should like to be friends with her, she understood his sister better than he could, and she was there where he could not be... but it was more than guilt... she was intriguing... interesting, he saw more than just a rough exterior. He spotted a path nearby that led off away from other people, he indicated to Noire to follow. It had been a long time since he had been here, but he was sure there was a fruit tree ahead in a secluded clearing. Sure enough, the large tree stood tall and proud. He began to climb up to the top, the sweetest fruit and best views were always higher up. He offered one of the sweet purple fruits before taking one for himself. The gardens rolled into the distance, though not quite as high as the tower. Something caught his eye below them, a young woman walking swiftly away from a man who seemed to be chasing her. He looked at one of the softer overripe fruits by his head, then back to the man. "Should I?" He asked to Noire with a little smirk. |

Aidan smiled. To be honest, he wasn't the least bit bored. Most men, including pilots, believe no woman can understand the mechanics of such machines, and it was a refreshing sight to see that had been proven wrong. He had held back as she observed each plane, and with his trained eyes, he could tell most were junk. It wasn't until they came across Miss Daisy that he showed some interest. While Shaede talked to the owner, he climbed up the side to stare into the cockpit, taking a gander at the controls, then leaned back to stare at the engine. He already approved of the machine before Shae had turned to him in her own approval. "Mind that we take it out for a spin?" he asked the pilot. The pilot didn't seem sure. "You a pilot too?" "Born one," he replied simply. Satisfied with that answer, the old man nodded. "By all means." Aidan jumped down to pay the man, but he shook his head. "Keep yer money. It's nice to see someone appreciate true machinery." Aidan hesitated, but shrugged, nodding from Shae to the plane. "Hop in." He turned back to the pilot. "We'll be sure to bring her back in one piece and without a scratch." Once they were both settled in, Aidan flipped the controls on before pulling a lever slowly, steering it towards the runway as the propellers started to spin. He loved the way the aircraft purred under him, much like a well loved woman. The plane moved forward towards the edge of the floating city. Whether or not Shaede was ready, he wasn't stopping now. Grinning, he sped up, flying off the edge and dropping a few feet before going into a glide. He turned, flying over the airfield and continuing off over the city. "I missed this," he muttered. "Flying an airship is one thing, but it doesn't give you the same feeling as a classic plane." --- Noire blinked as Leon led her away from the path and towards a tall fruit tree. Curiously, she watched as he climbed to the top, causing her to follow suit, but unlike most people, she didn't even break a sweat, nearly beating Leon to the top. She sat on a sturdy branch before she was tossed one of the fruits and she stared at it. Sniffing at it much in the way a cat did, she took her chances and bit into it, finding the taste sour...but sweet. It was an agreeable flavour. They didn't speak at all for several minutes as they ate until they heard the scowling of a fleeing woman and an overly pushy man chasing after her. Noire frowned, being somewhat reminded of how some of the staff harassed the subjects at Ravenholm. They made several attempts towards her, but they never got far enough without something broken. "Shall I?" Leon asked with a hint of playfulness, interrupting her thoughts. She peered between him and the man getting further and further away. "I doubt you can hit him from this distance," she challenged softly. |

Shaede grinned, she leapt into the seat with bare a moment's notice, her heart raced in her chest, she had not felt so giddy in... well... she could not recall. She could not even remember when she had felt any joy... not like this at least... She ran her hands along the sides, the feel of the leather and metal under her hands sang. She felt the engine roar to life and could not help but let a soft sigh escape her lips, it was the roar of freedom! As Aiden directed the plane to the edge, she felt her heart stop a moment, the world going silent as they dropped, she heard nothing but sweet silence for the briefest of moments, before the plane soared again, rising above the city. Shaede looked out beyond the glass tot the world below them, the floating city, miles above the ground... and now here they were... above the heavens themselves... Aiden's voice broke the silence between them, Shaede leant forward, she positioned herself so her lips were right by his ear, and she would not have to shout. "There's nothing like it... is there?" she responded, her voice sounded melancholic, "What I wouldn't give for freedom like this... it's beautiful... isn't it?" she glanced out again at the clouds and the city. --- Leon looked back at her with a mocking sense of shock, "my lady, you insult me!" he chuckled, before drawing back his hand, with a swift movement, and a flick of his wrist, the fruit soared out from the tree, and seemed to curve slightly, before seeming to increase speed and-- THWACK! Smacked the unruly gent right in the head! Leon stifled a laugh as the man fell comically to the ground, stunned. "Serves the git right!" He drew back another mushy fruit before launching it at the man. THWACK! This time it splattered all over his backside, staining his cream suit as he'd bent over to collect his hat. He jumped up and down, stamping his foot an a rage. Leon shook, trying to hold the laughter in. |

Luckily, Aidan was a hardened pilot, otherwise Shae's sudden closeness to his ear would have made them veer quite a bit off course. Damn, he thought with a small shiver, putting on a smile as he looked back at her. "I used to fly planes like this all the time," then he frowned slighty, "before the wars got heavier, that is." It was not a time he wished to remember. --- The sound Leon heard next was an unbelievable one. There was a snort, a whimper, and a quiet giggle. When he turned to look, she had her hand tightly placed over the bottom half of her face, trying desperately not to laugh, as if the foreign action was completely unwelcome. Sadly, she could not contain it, and small tears began to squeeze out the corner of her eyes, her face puffed up with the restraint. Finally, she couldn't hold it back anymore, and she released her mouth, and the laughter that spewed forth. When she couldn't stop laughing and tried to catch her breath, she inhaled deeply with a dramatic intake, holding her sides. "H-he," she struggled, "he fell on his f-face, ha-ha-ha! What a fool! And by a fruit!" Suddenly, it stopped, and she instantly sobered the second she spotted Leon staring at her, and she lit up like a hot flame, turning pink with embarrassment. Her face scrunched up as she looked away, much like a pouting child. |

"I've only flown in training," Shaede told him quietly, "I'd like my own..." she sighed, watching out the window, "I could stay up here forever," After a few minutes a very mischeivous grin crossed her lips as she leant closer to Aiden, "You suppose this old girl could do any tricks?" She wanted to see how good of a flier he was. -- Leon stared... by all the gods! She laughed! At first he was mesmerised, it was a beautiful sound! And her face, with a smile upon it... was nothing short of stunning. The sudden urge came upon him to kiss her, but he knew it would not go over well, he suppressed himself. Only to burst out laughing agin when he saw her pouting expression. He tried to stop himself, but as he turned away, the man whom he'd hit promptly slipped over and fell again. Leon's sides hurt as another bout of laughter took over. Though he half expected her to swat him one... |
