"That's amazing," he murmured, looking to her feet. "It may be possible to transform your whole body this way... you would be indestructible." He trailed his fingers further up her arm, her skin was smooth and soft...
"I am sorry you had to suffer as you did," he stated, his pale blue eyes meeting her deeper ones,. He held her hands in his as though they were precious to him.

Transform her entire body? He said the same thing those scientists did. Frowning angrily, she took away her hands, changing them back as she stood. Typical...just typical. In the end, it was all about her ability to change into something else. Why couldn't anyone see that she didn't want to be something else? To be able to hold something without fear of breaking it, and be without those memories of that place that wanted her for her ability to destroy anything. She wanted nothing to do with it!

"Bye," she said coldly, heading for the door and nearly tearing it off its hinges, slamming it shut behind her.

Leon immediately regretted his words, he jumped up as quick as he could to chase after her, he was about to reach out to grab her but quickly decided stepping in front of her would be better for his health.
"Noire... please I am sorry, that was insensitive. I didn't mean..." he rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. "I did not mean to sound like one of them. I have never seen anything like your abilities, and I admire them, but I do not wish to make you do anything..." he struggled with his words, "I... I was there, I snuck in a few years ago to try and get Shae... I saw some of the things they were doing... it made me sick, and I was caught before I could--" the memory still haunted him. "I can't imagine what they did to you... and I know it must be hard to control such an instinct... To wonder what it's like to be normal and fit in... I... I am sorry." His mouth formed a thin line. He expected her to slap him, or walk away, he glanced down at the ground and waited for her response.

"Really?" she asked skeptically. "You wonder what it's like to be normal? You don't know a fucking thing! You weren't locked up most of your life, tortured and experimented on day after day, pushed to your limits until you can't stand anymore! I had to kill to maintain my sanity! I had to endure things that would have killed a normal person--but not just me! Everyone in that hellhole suffered the same fucking thing and at least five to seven prisoners died in a month! And just about everyone who isn't strong enough to defend themselves gets violated in more ways than one! So don't you dare say you know what it's like!"

As she talked down to him, other pirates were coming out of their rooms, wondering what all the commotion was about. Her eyes flashed dangerously, glowing that intense blue. For a few moments, they were certain that she was about to strike Leon down, even fearing for him a little. However, instead of doing what was likely to have happened, she actually calmed down, closing her eyes and relaxing her shoulders. When she opened them again, she was deathly calm, a chilling look in her expression.

"Once the heist is done and over with, I want nothing to do with you. I've killed men for lesser reasons, but out of respect for Shaede, I won't harm you. I hate humans, but I hate the ignorant just as much, human or not. Don't admire me--be afraid. Now get out of my way," she demanded, pushing past him, hair swinging back and forth much like a cat's tail when they were annoyed.

Leon inwardly groaned, gods she was touchy.... she'd completely missed the intention of what he'd said! She wished nothing to do with him? Fine then, he thought, he would be polite but not force the issue. He sighed, and turned, glaring at the crew members who dared look out at him, before retreating to his room... he took the bottle in hand and laid back on his bad... the bottle would be gone in a short time...

--

Shaede found herself wandering the hallways, and it took her nearly ten minutes to find Rubi... admittedly she had to use her power, placing her hand on a wall and 'feeling' for Rubi using her shadows... She had to practice to keep her mind sharp... and this was a power noone would notice...

She approached the captain quietly. "So, any chance of a bed of my own?" she asked, she was tired, but not sleepy. She just wanted some time to herself... to relax and let her shadows out.... It was a strain to keep them locked up...

Rubi turned to Shaede as she was approached. "Yep. Follow me."

The captain led Shaede to the cabin hall, lined with doors. Some of the crew still had their heads stuck out just as Noire turned the corner, nearly bumping into the pair. She stopped short, anger evident on her features. Rubi blinked, noting the blackened state of her hands, curled into fists. What the hell happened? Noire said nothing, but knew the two were conjuring questions in their heads. Rubi frowned but also decided to say nothing.

"I was just about to show Miss MacKillan where your rooms are," she explained quietly.

After a moment of consideration, Noire seemed to have a change of mood, her shoulders relaxing. Rubi took that as a sign to keep going, walking back the way Noire came from. She came up to a set of doors at the end of a hall, situated across from one another. Opening one of them, the inside contained a simple wooden interior with copper framing and a good sized window with a closet next to it. All there was for furniture was a twin sized bed, a nightstand, a lamp, and a dresser. It was pretty small, but the window itself seemed to open it up. Rubi went to open the other bedroom, but it pretty much looked the same.

"There's a bathroom nearby, but everyone shares it, which happens to consist entirely of men, so it tends to smell. If you ladies like, I can have a couple of spare keys made for my bathroom. There's a separate door that I keep locked at all times. Trust me, you don't want to share the same bathroom as the men. Anyway, I've got work to do and much to prepare. Enjoy." And so she walked off.

Finally, with Noire and Shaede alone, as the elemental turned to look at Noire, she snorted, instantly declaring, "Your brother is an idiot."

Shaede looked at Noire curiously as she approached, she did look rather upset. She said nothing however, knowing how Noire liked her privacy. She followed the two ladies to the end of the hall. The room was larger than her cell, it had a comfortable looking bed, and it had wood panels... no grey painted concrete in sight... Shaede smiled. This would be perfect. She had actual furniture! It was a room! A real bedroom... not a cell... thank god. Not a cage.
She wondered if she would feel the ship's engine once they were flying... she would enjoy that... a humming sound to abate the deafening silence that followed her when she was alone. Anything would be better than that.

When Rubi mentioned the bathroom situation she wrinkled her nose slightly,
"Keys would be preferable..." she muttered and nodded as the woman excused herself. She watched the captain go before turning to look at Noire. Shaede barely opened her mouth to speak when Noire abruptly stated her distaste about Leon. Sheade frowned slightly in concern and gestured to the room she had seen her own things had been placed in. Rubi must have had all the shopping dropped off by other members of the crew.
Seeing the bags of clothes there on her own bed reminded her of Aidan's comment just minutes ago, how he looked forward to seeing her in her outfit. Suddenly she felt awkward and uncomfortable.

She turned back to Noire as she shut the door to her room,
"What happened, Eri?" Shaede was worried, what had upset Noire? Had Leon done something??

Noire paced back and forth, agitated by her previous encounter with the healer. Perhaps she overreacted, but still, he had no clue whatsoever. This rage of hers had always been easy to incite. If one said or did the wrong thing, she was likely to snap. Part of it was caused by the scientists at Ravenholm. The other part was how she couldn't even trust those who were supposed to love and care for her anymore. She was even wary of Rubi. The only people she could trust was herself and Shaede. Shaede was the only one that truly understood her.

Inhaling deeply, she explained what happened in detail. When she finished, she finally sat on the edge of the bed, leaning on her knees with black tendrils curtaining around her visage. "I hate men," she added.

Shaede sat beside her sister, listening to Noire spill her story, not saying anything for the moment. She waited until Noire was finished, and chuckled at her last comment.
"Well that is understandable... though, are you sure he meant to insult you... If I remember him well enough, I doubt he would have meant to offend you... he did always seem to put his foot in his mouth..." she paused, "that being said... he is an idiot." she stated.

They continued to talk, discussing their thoughts, what they wanted to do with their time... what they may do when they were at the party... they were admittedly worried about what would happen, whether or not they would be caught... but both were confident in their own abilities, and if Rubi and the others truly had wanted, they could have turned them in by now.

--

It was about sunrise when Shaede found herself again at the high point of the ship, sitting on the roof of the bridge, looking over the city and the skies around them. she was glad at least the hangars weren't enclosed.

She sang a soft tune, a song she had thought long forgotten, but still resonated with her; one her mother had sung to her before... well before all of this... Her voice seemed to resonate over the ship, a calming effect over those who heard it...

She heard footsteps, and her song faded, she looked down, recognising the person standing on the deck.

Upon the wee hours of the morning, Aidan stirred, legs tangled in the thin sheet. Sunlight began to blare through his small window, beaming over his face just enough to disturb him. With a groan, he rolled away from the sunlight, rolling into the wall hard enough to illicit a pained grunt out of him, having knocked his head against it. After taking a couple moments to recover, a melody reached his ears and he went still, holding his breath so he could hear it better.

Getting up, he sat on the edge of the bed, leaning on his knees with his eyes closed. Somehow it reminded him of home. It was strange, but the melody comforted him. He could almost smell freshly baked bread of the morning, and fresh grass with a hint of flowers. Green fields as far as the eye can see. A little cottage only a couple miles from town. Home... It's been awhile since he visited. He should head there when this heist was done.

Putting on a white wife-beater, he got up and left the room, heading outside as he sought out the source of this tune. Walking out on the deck, he looked up to find Shaede. Her song was just ending, leaving him a little disappointed, but he made no sign of it, instead leaning on the railing to stare out at the hangar. The memory of baked goods and nature left his senses as soon as she had ceased, replaced by the scent of metal.

"Pity," he muttered. "I was enjoying my little fantasy. Ah well." He looked up to deliver a smile to Shaede. "I'm thinking of grabbing some breakfast in town. You wanna join me?"

Shaede tilted her head to the side as she watched him, there seemed to be something behind his eyes as he looked up at her, he looked, sad? She frowned slightly, she couldn't quite place it. Something in his face made her feel sympathetic toward him, something was there that made her curious.

Her brow arched slightly, his choice of words was curious to her, what had he been thinking of? She was about to politely decline, thinking to herself she should possibly distance herself from him, but the growl in her stomach was enough to convince her otherwise. She grimaced and shuffled to the ledge before hopping down, beside him.

"Very well," she stated pleasantly, she brushed her black leather bustier down, and adjusted the white off the shoulder top she sported beneath it. She'd chosen to wear shoes this morning, simple cloth boots, but cut away from the front, only a cord to the sole between her toes. "lead the way, Master McKay," she gestured and arm out before her, indicating that he should lead the way.

She was not overly chatty, but did enjoy the early morning walk, it was a while before she spoke again, glancing ast him sideways and smirking at his appearance.

"You look as though you've just awoken," she muttered, bemused.

Aidan arched a brow at being called Master McKay, but said nothing about it. Walking with her off the ship, out of the hangar and into the city, he remained silent, feeling a little awkward. Yes, they've spoken a few times comfortably together, but he had a feeling she wasn't all that interested in speaking this morning, until she asked him about his appearance. Looking himself over, he realized his dishevelled appearance. Even his hair was a mess. Sheepishly, he removed the tie from his hair and began straightening it out before tying it loosely once more, then straightened his clothes.

"I did just wake up," he answered finally, rubbing his face. "I haven't had coffee, yet. I'm not a morning person."

"I have been up for two hours already," she responded, "old habits and all that..." She watched him attempt to straighten his hair and clothing a little haphazardly, tutting on seeing he had made a mess of his hair upon tying it. She tugged his arm so that they may stap off the main path out of the way of other people rhat may pass their way. "Allow me," she offered and stood to the side of him, gently loosening the tie and letting his brown strands fall. He seemed to give her a quizzical look as she began running her fingers through his long hair.

"Fear not," she chuckled on noticing the raised brow, "until two days ago I had impossibly long hair, and I have had to brush others hair before, I know what I am doing," and she was indeed gentle, never pulling or tugging, more of a head massage than a hair brushing. After a few moments she had tied the locks together again in a neat fashion. She stepped to the front of him, and coaxed a few hairs loose which she positioned around his face, tucking a few strays behind his ear.
"There you are, perfection." She stated, almost proudly.

He blinked, but let her do as she pleased. When she was done, he walked over to one of the fountain aqueducts to stare at his reflection. He looked decent for once. If he shaved his stubble and dress with some class, he wouldn't look bad at all. Well, that was to happen tonight anyway. Subconsciously, he scratched his chest.

"Not bad at all," he said, smiling over at her. "Thanks."

---

Meanwhile, Noire was sitting in her room on the bed, hugging her legs with her eyes closed. Silently, she eventually left the room and headed for the bridge, finding no one there. After awhile, she left the ship entirely, stopping to watch the crew members descend the fancy car on a lift. So, they'd be arriving in that thing, she mused before walking off into the city.

Noire took her time to take in the sights, smells, and sounds. Freshly baked goods filled her senses, and she began to salivate slightly as she followed her nose to a bakery of sweet pastries. She stopped dead at the sight of a group of children on their way to school, gulping some. She had no idea how to deal with kids. However, they ran off quickly as they were given their breakfast by a kindly looking old woman--possibly the shopkeeper.

Cautiously, Noire approached the windows to stare at the goods. The woman took notice of her and smiled sweetly. "Hello, dear. Are you looking for anything in particular?"

The greeting made Noire jump up in surprise, staring warily at the older woman. Awkwardly, she replied, "I...I don't know."

The shopkeeper blinked but chuckled, adjusting her glasses. "How about you come inside and browse for a bit. There's no need to rush."

As the woman went inside, Noire took a couple minutes to decide whether she should go inside or not. Eventually she crossed the threshold of the doorway, greeted by the chime of a bell and the sweet smell of sugar, bread, and cookies. Rather than look around, she watched the old woman. She was upright and thin, her silver and white hair tied up loosely in a high bun, with random strands falling out in delicate waves and curls. Her eyes were a soft blue, and she wore a standard baker's dress of pale blue with the sleeves rolled up and a white apron with frilly trim over top.

The lady looked up with a smile then went to grabbing a silver bowl with flour in it. "I haven't seen you in Mecha before, m'dear. Did you just fly in?"

"Er, yeah."

"First visit?" Noire nodded and the woman waved a finger knowingly. "I thought so. You have so much wonder in your eyes, that it's hard to miss. I looked that way too when I first came here. This place is so amazing. Where are you from?"

She hesitated, but the words flew out of Noire's mouth before she could stop herself. "Erebus."

The woman stopped and stared at her. "You poor girl. It must be horrible there right now."

Noire blinked then looked away. "I haven't lived there in a long time."

The woman smiled with a nod. "With the army trying to invade there, it's best you don't. Although I remember when it used to be peaceful and Queen Nya was still alive. She was such a kind and wise woman. In some ways, you look a lot like her, except the eyes." Noire said nothing, but relaxed enough to start looking around the shop.

She shook her head at his dismissive comment, heading down the cobbled street past him. She ran her fingers through her own hair, sighing as her hair suddenly stopped, she regretted the rash decision of cutting it, however she felt it would not be such a problem for long. But why? Why would she think that? It's not as though she could grow hair in a few days... Her thoughts were stopped suddenly as a small child bumped into her, a mass of tumbling brown curls into her side, reaching only up to her waist. Brown orbs looked up at Shaede.

"Sorry!" came the little squeak, the little girl did not move, staring at Shaede with wide eyes. Shaede frowned slightly, how had she not noticed the child? Indeed she was becoming complacent.

"Should you not be in school?" Shaede queried quietly. The girl looked away guiltily, and Shaede folded her arms, in a pointed manner, "What is your name?"

"Ab-Abigail," the little girl stammered, she looked up at Shaede, almost fearfully. This gave her a moment's pause, she recalled seeing children in the Institute like that... She had recalled cowering in fear. The woman's expression eased, she reached out and rested a hand on the girl's head, causing brown orbs to look up confused, relief as Shaede no longer looked angry.

"Very well Abigail, tell me, what do you learn in classes?"

"Well... uhm... to read, and write, and maths..." she shrugged, "It's boring,"

"Hm... do you like to read?" Shaede asked curiously.

The girl's face lit up, "Oh yes! But... Miss Channing doesn't let me read anything fun," A smug smile on her full lips.

"Then come with me," She reached out her hand and Abigail took it.

"Are you a princess?" the girl asked.

Shaede paused and looked at the girl curiously, "Do you think I am?"

"Yes, you look like a pretty princess,"

The older woman raised an eyebrow, as she turned she spotted Aidan, "Care for a detour?" she asked.

"Are you a knight?" Abigail asked looking at him, "All princesses have knights don't they? Or are you her prince?" the girl's eyes lit up again, "Ooh! That would be so romantic! Are you going to get married?" Shaede looked to Aidan, a bit scruffy for a prince wasn't he? She smirked, the Scruffy Prince.

"You ask an awful lot of questions, don't you?" Shaede muttered with a chuckle, and led the girl across the street, to a book shop. "Pick three." she told her. Abigail squealed with delight.

"Really? For me?!"

"Yes," Shaede nodded and waited by the counter, she turned to see Aidan staring at her, "What?" she asked, pouting slightly at his expression. "Didn't think I could be nice, Scruffy Prince Charming?"
