She took the bottle as he handed it to her, taking a long drink before passing him the rest. She stroked her chin in thought when he mentioned... stirrings. Perhaps Mael didn't care for her... maybe he did... but at that moment he was being an ass and she was mad at him... and the way Garrick was looking at her made her quiver. She stood and chuckled as he threw the bottle aside. She stood to fetch another, when she had done so, she stepped over to his side of the table and stood before him. His face was level with her stomach and she smirked, looking down to meet his gaze.
"I can think of something I want at the moment..."

===

Rubi totted off with Noire, making Shaede feel uneasy, but she had to accept that Noire was able handle it. Even if she was not pleased. The silver-eyed girl turned her attention to the many racks of clothes, it was a daunting task, and must be done right, Shaede knew that with the right costume, one could blend in, or stand out, be mocked or praised. It was the difference between success and failure. Shaede decided to pick something to make her stand out... though the prospect was a little frightening.

She managed to find a selection with sleeves, and backs high enough to cover her markings. She went though a few, discarding any with too full of a skirt that she would have trouble moving in. Eventually she stumbled across one, it was not something she would usually pick but... she would not be herself...

White all over, with floral embroidery, the train flowed and was looped over the belt line of a lilac layered short skirt. It left one leg exposed. And she could not have that. She would have to wear leggings beneath it. She found a cincher in the same lilac hue and a matching miniature top hat. The leggings were found shortly after, of the same shade. Her boots she was still undecided, but they would have to be comfortable. She stepped into the changing area and put everything on carefully. She even found a hair pin and roughly pinned back the top part of her hair. She glanced at herself in the mirror, her lips twisted as she assessed herself. Yes... this would do... after a moment she stepped out and was glad Rubi was right there.

"Will this suit your purposes?" She asked softly.

The young man looked up at the redhead with a smirk. "Well, you're fast, aren't you?" This trip was already proving to be a pleasant one.

===

Rubi looked over the young woman and grinned. "Looks good on you. Once you have everything you need, we can buy the dresses and start heading back." As an afterthought, Rubi suddenly cringed as she realized, "Let's pick up some dinner on our way back. I really don't want to have the cook's. God knows he's already putting together half-rotten food."

Noire soon came out, red in the face while a scowl was etched into it. Her long hair was tucked into a light blue top hat with a white fluffy feather and band. Her dress matched, with a white delicately wrinkled bodice and a light blue button-up cincher. The skirt was pretty puffy but not overly frilly, with black boots and white spats. On her arms was also a pair of white silk gloves.

"I hate you," she hissed. "I refuse to wear this."

Rubi seemed to gush over her. "But you're so cute! Besides, it's only for tomorrow night. Suck it up, Buttercup."

Noire sighed in defeat, muttering to herself, "There's just no winning against her..."

She folded her arms, poking her lower lip out in a pout. "Don't mistake me for some floozy..." she teased, "As you say, I simply find what I want," she lowered herself so her face was level with his, her hands placed firmly on his thighs, propping her up, "...and I go after it." She tilted her head and crimson waves spilled down her shoulder.

===

Shaede allowed a soft chuckle, "you two are definitely related," she smirked. "If it makes you feel better, Eri, I am not pleased about dressing up either... I simply like to show off," she folded her arms, "we seem to match though..." she looked between herself and her best friend.

It was some time before Rubi had chosen finally and they were dragged out of there. They were now laden with bags and boxes, Shaede's mouth twisted into a scowl, she didn't like shopping.... or More specifically, she didn't like people...

It was well into the evening before they returned to the ship, the sun was beginning to set, giving the city a red hue. Shaede was glad to be done with her venture. She made a point of mentioning getting their own rooms to Rubi earlier, she decided to remind the captain of such.

"I don't imagine you want us taking up your room... have you any place in mind for us?" She asked curiously. She would like her own space for a while...

Garrick just smirked as she simply offered herself. He wasn't going to complain. "Likewise..."

===

The captain thought about it for a bit then frowned somewhat. "I'll see what I can do after the briefing. I assume you two want separate rooms."

Noire just hid half her face behind her wrapped boxes. "I don't mind if we share or not. We're used to separate rooms, but we're also used to being together."

Shaede agreed with Noire, "even if it is two rooms with a door or bathroom between, that would suit us perfect," she stated. She did want to have a quiet word to Noire alone... the markings expanding on her back were worrying her. If they were expanding, where would they stop? Would she one day look like a living shadow with inky black skin? The thought made her shudder a little. She did not want that to happen.

She placed her bags down beside her, she felt a little edgy from all the people brushing past them in the markets, and yet she still felt calmed from the spa earlier. It was refreshing, though she would be lying if she said she didn't want to get changed into something that fit a little better than Rubi's spare clothes.

Rubi nodded. "Alright, I'll see what's on the ship. It's not exactly a luxury vessel, but privacy is still privacy. But first, dinner."

After they picked up some food to eat, they headed back to the hangar and climbed aboard. Rubi just told them to put their things in her room for now until other privacy arrangements could be made. When she left them alone to head off to the bridge and get a report, Noire and Shaede sat quietly in the captain's quartres, eating their food.

Noire was the first to break the silence. "What's going on?" she asked quietly.

The little restaurant was down an alley on the way back, it smelled delicious, like lemon grass, ginger, soy and chilli. They picked up a huge feast, to which the restaurant owners were thrilled! There was enough for them plus Leon, Aiden and half the crew! Though Shaede claimed that she could probably polish the lot... both she and Noire could eat quite a bit. Mainly due to the strain that their powers put on their bodies.

Shaede had grabbed a few portions of each dish, some fried rice, honeyed chicken, fried pork with a sweet sauce, vegetables and spicy noodles. She had to admit that one of her favourite things about leaving Ravenholm was the food. Anything was better than nutritional paste.

The silver eyed girl looked around guiltily, hesitant to tell her friend, she didn't want to worry her.
"Well... I..." she tugged her shirt up and turned around to show Noire the blackened swirled marks had extended.

Noire reached out to touch, but made no contact as her blue pools trailed along each swirl. What they both thought were tattoos had spread significantly. Tattoos shouldn't act like that, even if they were meant to enhance one's powers. What kind of research had Ravenholm done to make this possible? At this rate, Shaede might be overcome by the very darkness she wields. Noire didn't have any markings on her to improve her own abilities. They told her that her power wasn't elemental like most they had come across, so it couldn't be done. Instead they had stuck a hundred needles in her to develop her strength. But still, if it was happening to her friend...would it also happen to her?

Knowing Shaede, she wouldn't want anybody else to know of this, so Noire would remain quiet. "When did this start spreading?" she asked calmly.

She thought the ability to phase through one's body and rip out a man's heart seemed a little strange, since Shaede had never done it before. For Noire, it was natural to tear out his flesh. Actually, it was nearly only a couple of days since they escaped, and Shaede looked fine then. Why was it spreading now?

Shaede pulled her shirt back down and sat down at the table Rubi had bolted to the floor. She toyed with her noodles a while, though delicious, her stomach churned.
"I only noticed it today, it used to only be on my back, the scientists said it was a manifestation of my power... but now it goes from here," she placed a hand on her shoulder, then moved it to her hip, "to here," she sighed, "I am worried someone will notice. I will make a poor agent if I am identifiable on sight...." she grumbled and glanced out the large window, the orange light spilling in.

"And... my powers are changing, more powerful... I don't know if it's because of the experiment the day we left... or if it's simply because we left and I am free..." Shaede bit her lower lip, "I am worried it may make me dangerous... what if my powers get out of control?" She rubbed her temple with her fingertips, "if... if I do, and you can't get though to me... if I lose control completely... I need you to kill me, Eri." Her silver orbs met blue.

Noire's eyes widened. "You must be joking. You can't expect me to do that." She scoffed, a little angry, as usual, but this was different. Standing up, she paced around the room. "There's no point in worrying about it anyway. You won't lose control, and there will be no need for me to kill you anyway." Perhaps she was deluding herself just to avoid the issue, but she couldn't help it. She'd always been evasive when it came to things she didn't want to do. After awhile, she stopped pacing and just stood there, her back turned to Shaede as she spoke quietly, "But...if it really came down to it, I'll...I'll try. But I can't make any promises."

Shaede's usually full pink lips formed a thing worried line, she had expected Noire to upset at her request, but it still concerned her. She did not like to upset her 'sister'.

"I know it is unlikely, I have a good control of them now, this is new, and I don't ever want to be unable to take charge, I had enough of that inside...but..." she stood and wrapped her arms around Noire's shoulders in a very warm hug. "Thank you. You are the only one I trust to do it. Though I hate to have to ask." She mumbled into Noire's hair, Shaede began to regret cutting hers off now...

Noire just remained silent as she placed her hands gently over Shaede's, closing her eyes painfully. It wasn't often she felt sad, as she felt the need to push sadness aside to be strong. It was part of how she survived. And for the first time in years, she actually wanted to cry, but still, she kept her tears inside.

===

On the bridge, a majority of the crew stood with the windows closed up to not allow anyone from outside to see inside. Rubi stood near the wheel, having adopted a serious expression. Aidan stood off to the side, wearing his hat, tipped down in the front, covering his face while he leaned against the railing, arms crossed. Noire herself stood with Shaede, away from the crowd, but they could see Rubi perfectly well. Rubi took a step forward, making sure everyone was paying attention.

"Everyone's here? Good." She cleared her throat. "Around 8 PM tomorrow evening, guests will be arriving at the Ashcroft Estate. Around 9 PM, myself, Noire, and Shaede will arrive with an escort, being Leon."

"Why him?" Noire asked. "And why can't we just go by ourselves?"

Rubi smiled. "Because in rich society, it's unthinkable for even refined women to walk around without a man. They're narrow-minded like that. Anyway, I'll be acting the part as his business partner, while you two will play the part as sister and fiancee."

Her impassive expression turned to shock. "W-what?"

Rubi sent a glare around the room when a few of the crew members chuckled, immediately shutting them up. "Don't worry, the most that will happen is you standing close, maybe a little arm clinging, and chaste kisses on the cheek or hand. Anything more than that isn't appropriate behaviour in the aristocracy. Besides," she added, smiling to the pair of them. "At least while playing as the sister and the fiancee, men will be less inclined to go near you, as you're both off limits, as it were."

Noire blinked, but relaxed. "Oh, okay then." Well, that was a plus. Still, she looked over to where Leon was. He better not get any ideas.

Shaede lingered tot he back of the group, sitting on a railing as she listened to Rubi's plan. Her arms folded, she frowned when the captain mentioned the escort, she did not like to be 'nannied' Leon however did not seem to react, he kept his gaze on Rubi, his face impassive. If he was happy or upset about the decision, he was not showing it.

Her gazed wandered over to the suspiciously quiet pilot, he had his face covered, and almost looked asleep... She recalled he was sluggish when she had seen him last, having been up all night... she began to wonder if he had slept yet. She made a mental note to go and harass him for attention.

She began to think on her own actions for the following night... she would have to think on her name and her personality for her 'act' She would also have to consult Rubi on what she would want her to do, if she was purely distraction, or if she was also to have a mark... She found herself distracted, thinking on her markings, not really looking at anything, until she blinked and realized she was staring at Aiden's hat... She glanced around, thank god noone seemed to notice.

"Moving on," Rubi started again. "Okay, here are the jobs. The four of us will be mingling for an hour to establish our presence. Naturally, we will have to greet the host of the party, Mr. Ashcroft himself. In that hour, McKay will sneak in with a couple others and find the security room which is on the top floor of the estate. He'll disable the alarms and loop the camera feed. When the hour is up, us girls will excuse ourselves while claiming a need to use the bathroom and powder our noses. Leon will stay behind and distract the host while we meet with Aidan and leave for the basement while two others stay behind to guard the security room. The rest of you will be dressing up as the security guards themselves. Knock them out one by one, steal their outfits after hiding their bodies away in a broom closet. Y'know, classic stuff that never gets old."

She continued as she began to pace, "When we reach the basement, we'll encounter a state of the art security system. This cannot be shut down from the security room, so we have to make do. First, we will enter a mirror room with laser beams that move and alternate patterns. This will be our biggest obstacle. The lasers will bounce off the mirrors, creating an intricate web of defence. Also, even the slightest movement of smoke can set them off. However, there is a way to shut them off. Ashcroft carries with him a remote. Which is why I must stress that before we leave for the basement, we need to snatch it from him."

Noire looked at Shaede then. "Shaede's the best when it comes to slight of hand."

"Excellent! What do you say Miss MacKillan? You up to that task? Don't worry, you'll have a bigger task ahead of you."

Shaede nodded as Rubi looked to her, "Whether he has it on his person or not, I shall find it." She stated calmly. She was good at gauging people, finding out what they did, where they went, and where they were most likely to carry their wallet, vital documents, guns or in this case, a remote for a security system. She knew she would have little trouble with it, especially if he had no clue what she was capable of.

She found her gaze wandering again, looking over the members of the crew, Rubi as she spoke, then to her brother, who stole a glance at Noire. Shaede frowned momentarily, had she seen what she thought she had? He seemed to look at Noire in admiration, a gentle smile across his face; but only a moment as when he looked back he was impassive again. Shaede blinked. He... liked her? Was that what she had seen? The silver eyed girl shook her head to clear it. It was an unlikely outcome, but she decided to firstly keep the information from Noire for now, likely she would react poorly... and secondly she would keep an eye on her brother to see if indeed it were her imagination or not.
